Well the Steelers offense has crashed back down to earth...
Tied at 9 with the New York Football Giants.
Wait... the Steelers just ran back a punt for a TD.
16-9.

Steeler (and refs) won a close game. I had to stop watching after all the flags.
Daboll actually pulled a smart one

Kind of like how Oregon intentionally put 12 men on the field so time would elapse during the end of their game against Ohio State. Rule change happened immediately after

Your wife deserves a better man for a husband, but it is what it is I suppose.
Hey just out of curiosity, after 1994 - how many times have the Browns won 11 regular season games?
It's 30 years later and they've done it twice in 2020 and 2023 with the same Head Coach. Is he really the Big Bad Wolf?

That's a great point but I don't think it excuses him from the shit show that was the beginning of this season.
2 things were painfully obvious.
1 Watson needed to be benched.
2 the team as a whole needed more focus to eliminate stupid penalties.
I think clock management was bad too but can't remember.
Those fall on Kevin. He only made the changes because he was forced to. I'm not saying he should be fired but his ass should have a little heat on it.

I agree Watson needed to be benched. Tell you what, I sure got the impression he had a lot more fun calling the plays when Flacco was directing the offense last year. Did he make the call to not re-sign Flacco or the FO (which probably needs the 2 thumbs up from the owner).
It was awesome to see our best 5 OL starting for the 1st time together. The flags seemed less frequent - although the guy rejoining the group (Teller) had a couple penalties. Some guys are getting healthier to be more efficient in that group as well.
Just my opinion (and it could be wrong), the financial commitment made to Watson (and traded away picks) was done by Owner and FO - so I doubt Stefansk would have the absolute power here to just say "hey I'm benching your idea of football savior at QB and myself as play caller."

It’s a tricky scenario in general, one that upper leadership put Stefanski in.
Watson beat the ravens last year before blowing out his shoulder, we all said he looked good and the season was over RIP - then Flacco happened. So it made sense they had some confidence in him going into week 1.
If Stefanski benches Watson for Winston and dark jameis comes out and throws his 4 INTs - then they switch to DTR who lobs ducks to center field, he’d be in hot water for benching Watson in the first place who sucks but had other excuses like the OL and no running game. Winston is the QB who has historically come out and thrown 400 yards and 4TDs one week, and 180 yards and 4 INT the next week.
I fully supported benching Watson during and after the giants game, but I understand the politics involved - definitely should blame the owner and FO for putting the coach in that situation even if he signed off on Watson he isn’t ultimately responsible for personnel decisions.
Stefanski can be criticized like anybody, especially maybe for the mind boggling failure of putting DTR as QB2 when Winston is obviously more NFL capable. But he is nowhere close to the hot seat.

To Stefanski’s credit…when he was calling plays…it is a difficult job when you have two incompetent bookend tackles, bad QB play, your top running back out, your #1 WR pissed off and your Guard and Center in and out of the lineup. So those shouting for discipline and focus under the conditions above - good luck.

BINGO! Good to start seeing you back in the mix!
The guy they HAVE to keep seated barring injury is Wills. What's left when your LT doesn't have the W I L L? Add the S for SEAT HIM. Man, all this time that guy has been entitled and he's just pathetic in terms of effort. All anyone has to do is watch Wills vrs Cincy. The GREAT news is Jones did a great job at LT while Conklin is reverting back to old form (he's always going to be a good run blocker but the pass blocking is getting better as he plays his way into shape. Now that we finally had our O-Line in their best places - can we have better luck at keeping them healthy?
