Would the Cowboys try to trade up from #12 to get Shadeur if they sign Deion? That might help drive up the price. But if the Cowboys move up for Shadeur then that means Dak is gone. Dak has a league-high cap hit of $90M in 2025, so I'm not sure who would be willing or could take that on. I think the Cowboys/Jerry Jones are frustrated with Dak and would be willing to move on from him, but man $90M is a big ask...the Cowboys would have to eat a chunk of that.

If the Cowboys wanted to go up to 12 to 2 the Browns could demand a Watson-like return…

What did Washington give up for RGIII back in the day?

Washington gave up 3 firsts and a second.

If you look at an NFL trade value chart, Dallas would be coughing up two firsts and a second at minimum. Dak has a no-trade clause so I don't know how they figure out trading him to somewhere he wants to go that could afford that salary. Maybe one of the teams that misses out if Dallas trades up - Jets, Raiders? Raiders don't have much going for them other than Bowers. The Jets have some weapons if they move on from Rodgers, but Davante Adams might have to be traded back to Dallas for salary cap purposes.

  • Mike Florio was suggesting that Jason Whiten might be in play for Dallas.

In memory of all Deion's previous business decision reminders of "I ain't here to tackle people" wouldn't you love to see a smart ass player ask him the following question?

"Hey Coach Prime we got Derrick Henry coming at us this week. Can you show us how to deliver a nice old school form tackle?"

Your buddy Flugel would pay to hear it and see it...

I wouldn’t want to tackle Henry either. But Deion wouldn’t even try to tackle a slot receiver on the Oilers.

Yes, I said this a week ago as potential trade spot. Teams have to get ahead of the Giants. You get Shadeur locked up on much better deal.

Im more interested in a first round next season - so you have the ammunition to get a QB in 2026.

Very talented!  Believe it or not, I enjoyed watching the guy especially when he was about to return a punt in an away game.  He'd put his hand up to the ear hole of his helmet and tilt his head to show the crowd he couldn't hear them.  Next thing you know he'd be taking it to the house. I think we all agree he was an exception to the rule as a shutdown corner that only Revis could somewhat compare to.  Those guys could close off a side of the field to a passing game.  Never said I didn't like the guy.

All that said, he's a coach now.  I can assure you he's not going to want to hear one of his RBs or WRs saying "I don't block" if they're needed to chip an edge rusher or step up to protect a QB if his team has a LT like Jed Wills.  On defense, if an opponent is getting outside running sweeps, off tackle or catching swing passes - is Coach Prime gonna be happy if his 2 or 3 corners on the field don't want to tackle?  FWIW, he just let one of his players play Wide Receiver and Cornerback - and it even worked. Do you know why?  The guy likes to win.

Okay, now it makes sense Syd.  If I wasn't so old - I would have remembered you're a big Reds fan.  Then again, I remember you're way older than I am with your birthday right around the corner again.

I think you and I are pretty much in lock-step regarding this draft… trade down and get as much ammo for a QB in next year’s draft or if we stay at #2, Abdul Carter.

Yes…that’s exactly what I want so we will have a 10% chance of it happening.

  • Who didn't think this was inevitable to see Jerry firing McCarthy and contacting Deion about discussing his HC job now available.  Oh, and he has a son that's the #1 rated QB prospect as well?  You don't say!  Here's a link and a cut and paste of content from 1 article about the possibility of what could be coming to the Palace.

Deion Sanders to Dallas Cowboys? Jerry Jones willing to make Prime Time splash

Jerry Jones loves to make headlines, and there is no bigger way to take the NFL world by storm than by handing the keys to America's Team to Coach Prime Deion Sanders.

Josh Sanchez | 10 Hours Ago

Dallas Cowboys Nation, buckle up, because we are about to get a show. Everyone knew that Jerry Jones would turn the head coaching search into a circus after deciding to let Mike McCarthy walk, and he has wasted no time.

Just hours after allowing McCarthy to seek out less chaotic opportunities, reports surfaced that Jerry Jones has reached out to Colorado football coach Deion Sanders.

Yes, the one and only Coach Prime.

MORE: 3 former Dallas Cowboys players who could become the next head coach

Deion has always said he's not hard to find, and Jerry wasted no time digging up his phone number to give him a ring. According to the reports, Coach Prime is considered a "top candidate" for the job and the interest is legitimate.

If there is one thing Jerry Jones cares about, it is the Dallas Cowboys brand.

Unfortunately for Jerry, the Cowboys brand has taken a hit in recent years because of his mishandling and meddling when it comes to football operations. If there's one thing Deion is good at, it's being a salesman.

Coach Prime has made Jackson State a legitimate FCS brand and helped restore the brand and prestige of the Colorado football program.

Could he do the same as an NFL coach? With zero experience at the pro level, Coach Prime would need to surround himself with rockstar coordinators. But, because he brings an aura people want to be around, that wouldn't be an issue.

MORE: 4 candidates to replace Mie McCarthy as Cowboys head coach

The Hall of Famer brings something else Jerry Jones covets: Attention, and don't downplay that as a factor.

As a player, "Neon Deion" was a two-time Super Bowl champion, NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and eight-time All-Pro. As a coach, he is a two-time SWAC champion and won at every level, compiling a 40-18 record.

Love him or hate him, Deion Sanders knows what it takes to win and that is something the Cowboys desperately need.

And Jimmy Haslem is the same way.  Glitzy!  New and Improved!  He'd like nothing more than to make headlines and draft Sanders' son!

A different option, if you just plain hate the two top QB's, would be to trade to #12 with the Cowboys.  That way the two Sanders' could be together.  Unprecedented!   That's something that would be valued somewhat higher than a regular ol' trade.  We might be able to reacquire some/much of the Watson trade back for present and future use.  -  I know that that would be trading out of the top ten and probably losing the true blue chippers, but the haul would/should be substantial.    ( day dreaming )

Here's the thing - I don't know enough about either QB to hate their game.  That said, your your idea intrigues me and I'm guessing you're wanting more than simply swapping a 2nd pick for a 12th.

All that said, do we ever just let the draft fall to us?  It seems like the teams that often do that (ie: Baltimore) always seem to have great football players falling to them. Just prepare for the slots were in and draft the best rated guy that lands in our draft slot.

  • 49ers went from 12 to 3 in 2021.

Niners gave up three first round picks and a 3rd round pick. That kind of haul goes a long way in securing your QB for 2026. Maybe finds an heir apparent to Myles and reloads the offensive line.

At 12 give me a tackle.

They got lucky that Purdy bailed them out.
