Downs seemed like the best player on OSU. He's a beast.

I got as far as TE. I was pleasantly surprised with Akins this season. I looked up his stats and he got 40 catches and 2 TDs, and was good for almost 10 yds/catch last year. Those are solid numbers for a 2nd string TE. I think he iron manned it through the whole season too. Maybe missed 1 game?
He’s north of 30 years old and l believe a free agent now. I wouldn’t mind a re-sign.
I was pleasantly surprised with Akins this season.
He had a solid season. Let's see if we can make him TE3.

A definite argument could be made that he is.

Man, this really spells out Best Player Available throughout the draft. Virtually every group is a definitive need.
The good news is Ohio State is no longer further away than Siberia for the Browns. Here's some well deserved news that may end up with 1 or 2 of the guys mentioned wearing a Browns uniform in the very near future. In a way, it's good news that Downs won't be available until next year - but this is a weakness that needs to be addressed this year. That said, Donovan Jackson and Seth McLaughlin offer flexibility to an aging and injury prone OL.
Ohio State Safety Caleb Downs Becomes A Unanimous All-American, Donovan Jackson Also Named First-Team All-American by Sporting News
Caleb Downs is officially a unanimous All-American.
The Ohio State safety became the 34th different player in Ohio State history to earn unanimous All-American honors as he was named Wednesday as a first-team All-American by Sporting News.
Donovan Jackson also earned first-team All-American honors at guard from Sporting News while Seth McLaughlin was named a second-team All-American on the offensive line.
Downs becomes the fourth safety in Ohio State history to earn unanimous All-American honors, joining Malik Hooker (2016), Mike Doss (2002) and Jack Tatum (1970).
Downs, who transferred to Ohio State after one year at Alabama, is the first-ever transfer to earn unanimous All-American honors for the Buckeyes. He and Seth McLaughlin, Ohio State’s other consensus All-American this year, are the first two transfers to earn consensus All-American honors for the Buckeyes.
Already considered to be the best safety in college football when he transferred to Ohio State, Downs has lived up to the hype in his first season as a Buckeye. He recorded 62 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one interception and three pass breakups during the regular season, leading the way for Ohio State’s defense to lead the country in both points and yards allowed per game with his excellence in both coverage and tackling. He also had a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown against Indiana, Ohio State’s first punt return touchdown in 10 years.
Overall, Downs’ unanimous All-American season is the 39th in Ohio State history as five Buckeyes have earned the honor twice: Marvin Harrison Jr. (2022-23), Orlando Pace (1995-96), Archie Griffin (1974-75), Bob Ferguson (1960-61) and Howard “Hopalong” Cassady (1954-55). As a sophomore who is still a year away from being draft-eligible, Downs will have the chance to join that illustrious group if he performs up to expectations next season.

I always really try to temper my OSU homerism when doing mock drafts, etc...
But sweet 8lb, 6oz baby Jesus, the amount of Ohio State players this year that I would love the Browns to draft is staggering. I totally forgot about McLaughlin, he'd be a great interior OLineman along with Donovan Jackson... And of course Josh Simmons at LT.
There's the entire Buckeyes DLine, I love me some Cody Simon at LB, both RBs Henderson and Judkins, safety Lathan Ransom and CB Denzel Burke and WR Emeka Ebuka.

No Homer, you'd be better with Michigan's DL

I'd have no problem with TTUNs DLine prospects either... I said recently that I'd be fine if all of the Browns picks were from Ohio State, Penn State and TTUN.

If you are only a player or so away from a realistic SB shot, then you can think about positional needs. Other than that, accumulating as many stud players as you can has to be the goal. You can never have too many good players.

IDL yes; but that team didn't lose 5 games by accident. I like the edges of Ohio State's Defense better. FWIW, Ohio State had a good enough interior to be a team hardly anyone could score TDs against after achieving 1st and goal.
I'm a big fan of Ma son Graham. If you look close enough - he's got my chins...

The Steelers are not bringing back DangerRuss.
I've had this thought for a few weeks. But this is something the Browns should pursue. It's the intersectionality of low cost, contract length and personnel - scheme fit that would do well.

Wilson in the Stefanski offense isn’t the worst idea

It's as close to Seattle as he can get unless he goes to play for Pete in Vegas.
Mobile QB, under center in an outside zone? You wanted us back to running Stefs offense, this is a good start.
He'll be inexpensive, easy to drop, can help show a rookie how to prep and play like a pro. Insures we don't have to start said rookie too quickly. Yes, he's corny and dorky. But his teammates like him, you don't hear anything bad about him off the field or in the community. I think it would be foolish to not at least kick the tires and see how he would feel on the fit.
I'd rather him than Kirk, who is a strong breeze from being on one leg.

I wish I knew what the team's plan for Watson really is. I mean, are they going to keep him on the roster for financial reasons, give him the title of backup QB, and make him carry equipment on and off the field? Or sever ties completely and open up the whole QB room. Or, God forbid, pretend he'll come back from the injury and work his way back to the starting role.
I'm looking for a scenario where we can swipe that Joe Milton kid from the Patriots.

I think he’ll be placed on the IR List for all of 2025.
