What happens when he doesn't sign an extension and leaves to get a ring with a team that's not run by idiots?

I truly believe he likes it here

    I do as well.

Nick is all about team. Once on a team, that is his team.

He still supports his HS Cedartown Bulldogs.

He is a Georgia Bulldog through and through.

Now he plays in front of the dawgpound. The Browns are his team.

For some reason I think Myles has this thing about loyalty somewhat like our LT HOFer Joe Thomas. It's a shame for both, but speaks to character. I hope Myles has his own dinosaur museum in Cleveland some day. He can have statues of he and JT on either side of T-Rex.

Yeah, we had a dream LT to protect the blind side of QBs our FOs drafted with 2 blind sides.  That said, it's nice to have HOF players that LOVE Cleveland and glad they're here.  After all, this franchise could use endorsements like Myles Garrett and Joe Thomas with all the other stuff having draft prospects hoping Cleveland doesn't draft them. That statement also works against my point.  Bear with me while the East and West sides of my mouth are having a Civil War.

No way you get a similar player as Myles in this draft,.

The PR disaster will be real if they trade Garrett & release Chubb. See Watson/Baker with we fans.

I'm against either move. These guys need to retire as Browns.

I agree on Myles.  It might take 15 more drafts to get someone as good. Chubb is where we disagree, be it slightly.  I think the guy is pretty much used up. He might still be a good back, but finding guys who can gain 700 yards isn't all that hard. With all the negative PR hits the team has taken over the last few years, I wouldn't be worried about one more.

In the end I think we will sign him to an easy to get out of 3 year, incentive laden deal. That way we don't take the PR hit, we keep chubb for a few more years if he still has gas in the tank, and will give Nick the chance to hang 'em up if indeed it works out that way.

Yeah, the business side of sports is tough.

Chubb's attitude and strength bought him another chance. Clearly, he didn't have that "burst" when he came in, so maybe he lost a step. Maybe it's because our run-blocking scheme was lousy, or the line in general just isn't what it was.

I doubt he's into personal stats, but surely he was on a trajectory to be a 10,000 yard back until the injury.

You could be right. DePodesta probably isn't on board with him contributing much from here, post injury. Letting him go would be very hard on our fan base.

I know from the experience of a medial meniscus bucket handle tear of my L knee in racquetball that even after 4 months post surgery of 15 miles a day bicycle riding, I was favoring it when I tried to come back and began to stress the R knee. So I went back to the bike only for another year before coming back. That second year everything was back to normal. And that was around age 60 or so. So I'd damn sure give the much younger Chubb another good shot at it in 2025. I thought from the getgo that 2024 was just too soon for an NFL RB.

Totally agree, even a world class athlete needs time to recover, despite the modern medicine rehab.

He may never return to former form but will definitely get a chance to try. I hope it's here.

I don't know how much Depodesta has to do with it.  I think he is just the scapegoat, but that is for another thread.

As for fans, we think with our hearts more than with our brains.   I am not saying that is wrong but it isn't always the right decision.

I think back to Hanford Dixon....I didn't want it to end, but from one game to the next it looked like he inserted lead plates in to his shoes.  It was hard to watch.

DePodesta has everything to do with it IMHO. That's his job/supposed area of expertise. Analyzes production.

I'd be curious to see what DePodesta would do if he was with another team, like Cincy. The Tee Higgins situation would be right up his alley.

But yes, fans are fans and our emotions rule over sensibility many times.

And apparently Myles might be going somewhere else ?

    Garrett is no Joe Thomas.

I'm very disappointed to say the least. But I also understand that he's aware this is the worst owner and the worst FO in the business with a baseball guy running a football team. I'm speculating when he sat down and listened to their "winning" plan for the future, he saw losers in it. I got stuck on a team like that early in Little League. I was so happy to get picked up by a good team in a higher level the next year. That one competed for 1st place rather than lose all games ridiculously. Yep, hated to abandon my father/assistant coach, but he'd never played a lick and it was time to go.    LOL!?

    Myles isn't going anywhere.

I can't say the same about Chubb, though. I'd love to see him come back, add a couple young RBs in the draft and have Ford as our 3rd down back. RB by committee.

Chubb won’t command a big pay day anywhere, I think it’s pretty feasible he comes back here. The organization could really benefit from the PR in keeping a fan favorite around given all their other shit.

Haslam has deep pockets which is great, he just needs to back the F up and hire a football guy to run things.

All that to say at least we’re not the panthers.

I doubt 3 first rounders would happen...maybe the Cowboys would do something like that.  Jerry is nearing the end.  He might be more interested in the here and now over anything in the future.  There are some rumblings that Dak might be on his way out of Dallas.  Dak is 31, so he should still have 4-5 good years left.  Dak and a 1st this year plus whatever we could get next year. A 1st possibly, a 2nd for sure.

As much as I want Myles to stay I'd have to do that trade.  Having the DPOY hasn't got us far often.  We need a QB.

Same here. A starting calibre QB with 2 first rounds plus the word is that this draft is rich in DE's so maybe we can find someone 80%of Myles too.

The possibilities are intriguing. The big problem is I don't see much chance of trading Myles this year before the draft.  Maybe June 1 at the earliest.  The reality is it will probably have to be a June 1 cut next year. The anchor of the Watson situation along with some other contracts that had money pushed forward have us in a tight spot.

It was at least on paper manageable the next 2 years. This Myles situation has thrown a monkey wrench in to that plan.
