About the only one who thinks tariffs are a great idea is DJT.  The guy didn't learn a f**king thing at Wharton. He's an economic moron. Period. As predicted, he ignited a trade war. It's going to hit American consumers fast and hard. I do the grocery shopping, & I happen to notice all the "made in Mexico" produce. Fortunately- I don't care for avocados or guacamole- but a lot of people do. Get ready for a price increase at Chipotle.

Car parts and cars flood into the United States from both Canada an Mexico, If you're in the market for a new car, or if your old beater needs a new alternator...  Surprise!!! 25% increase.  Well DUH!!! It would take YEARS for Ford and GM to build plants to move production stateside.

Panama pledges to end key canal deal with China, work with US after Rubio visit

State Department estimates around 72% of all vessels that travel through the Panama Canal are coming from or going to a US port

The whoreta looks like a hippo ass AGAIN ! LOL

So, 149, come on. Tariffs are a tool - if used wisely, it gets attention, compliance and

makes fixing problems a huge win.

  • if not for the dumbass high taxes on businesses by the left - companies would STAY in AMERICA.

    That was serious, destructive bs.

and other countries flooding our country

with cheap and crappy steel crashed our excellent steel industry.

Another reason for tariffs. China with their slave labor does it.

The hell with mexico and canada thriving on the bad trade deals with with us.

No more. We are more than 36 TRILLION in debt, dammit.

  • I can't even keep up with all the great things Trump is accomplishing.

In the long run, the bad trade deals will be fixed, meanwhile... mexico can keep every single thing they export. ban everything from mexico.

and canada ? they are letting illegals flood into our country too.

they won't stop until we put pressure on them. 😁 😁

and we have mega billions in trade deficit with them, too.

It's time to stop it. With trudo girlieman, they are not much of an ally.

    Screw their gov.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it recorded a record-high number of encounters with migrants between border posts on the Canada-U.S. border between October 2023 and July of this year.

Maybe you should look at what the United States currently imports from Mexico before you spout off. Sorry- crazy talk. Like damn near a half TRILLION dollars worth of stuff...   Go kiss your T-Rump poster... https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/imports/mexico

'America First': Largest steel producer in US announces support of Trump tariffs

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Saturday authorizing tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China

  • So, mexico caved, no tariffs then.

Canada caved - a one month delay to make sure they comply.

So, no devastation from the mean, frightening tariffs.

Tariffs are a tool. Use tool wisely, tool works good.

Thank GOD for PRES TRUMP !!!! (and it's only been two weeks !)

the tariffs ARE the way to go -

(because prices are still high  ...  is that right OP?)

Maybe you should look into what has been addressed thus far by this administration.

Your type would rather see this country fail than give Trump credit for anything.

    Mexico caved

    Panama caved

    Colombia caved

    Venezuela caved

    Canada panicking

    Mass deportations

    Hostages are home

    DEI programs ended

    Bureaucracy slashed

    FBI purges are underway

    USAID funding cancelled

    Gender ideology eliminated

DOGE already saved over a billion

    51 intel agents lost clearance

Border crossings have dropped by 93%

Actually, Canada caved yesterday as well - I may have missed it on the threads.

So basically Mexico and Canada are on 30 day probations for the moment.

China may have retaliated, saw something about it, just haven't dug into it yet.

So for now, China is the outlier.

But any previous Administration would tell everyone these things are not possible   .   .   .

Ya'll getting the picture of how inept / corrupt our Politicians have been for years upon years ?

And we're just a day over two weeks of being in control   .   .   .

I thought prices were supposed to go down on day one.

While bearing in mind that the threatened tariffs have now been suspended due to Canada, Mexico agreeing to take action on the smuggling of fentanyl and illegal migrants from their countries into the U.S., yet the imposition of tariffs does not necessarily increase shopping costs. This is because the consumer has the option to buy U.S. products.

An issue could however arise if energy costs such as "gas" (U.K: "petrol") increased, and if so this could lead to an increase in the cost of food products that are transported (using any pricy gas) across the U.S.
The U.S. exports oil to Canada which refines it and then the U.S. imports that refined gas from Canada. Time for the U.S. to refine its own oil !

  • Tariffs on communist sombeitch china are only 10%, and I heard china will retaliate.

Whatever, we need to boycott the cheap, sometimes ingrediented with toxic byproducts chinese crap every damn where.

If you told me we would have all of that done in Trump's first two weeks, I would have volunteered $10 a dozen for the whole year, and my family eats a lot of eggs.
