  • So, mexico caved, no tariffs then.

Canada caved - a one month delay to make sure they comply.

So, no devastation from the mean, frightening tariffs.

Tariffs are a tool. Use tool wisely, tool works good.

Thank GOD for PRES TRUMP !!!! (and it's only been two weeks !)

In the long run, the bad trade deals will be fixed, meanwhile... mexico can keep every single thing they export. ban everything from mexico.

and canada ? they are letting illegals flood into our country too.

they won't stop until we put pressure on them. 😁 😁

and we have mega billions in trade deficit with them, too.

It's time to stop it. With trudo girlieman, they are not much of an ally.

    Screw their gov.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it recorded a record-high number of encounters with migrants between border posts on the Canada-U.S. border between October 2023 and July of this year.

Maybe you should look at what the United States currently imports from Mexico before you spout off. Sorry- crazy talk. Like damn near a half TRILLION dollars worth of stuff...   Go kiss your T-Rump poster... https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/imports/mexico

Maybe you should look into what has been addressed thus far by this administration.

Your type would rather see this country fail than give Trump credit for anything.

    Mexico caved

    Panama caved

    Colombia caved

    Venezuela caved

    Canada panicking

    Mass deportations

    Hostages are home

    DEI programs ended

    Bureaucracy slashed

    FBI purges are underway

    USAID funding cancelled

    Gender ideology eliminated

DOGE already saved over a billion

    51 intel agents lost clearance

Border crossings have dropped by 93%

Actually, Canada caved yesterday as well - I may have missed it on the threads.

So basically Mexico and Canada are on 30 day probations for the moment.

China may have retaliated, saw something about it, just haven't dug into it yet.

So for now, China is the outlier.

But any previous Administration would tell everyone these things are not possible   .   .   .

Ya'll getting the picture of how inept / corrupt our Politicians have been for years upon years ?

And we're just a day over two weeks of being in control   .   .   .

I thought prices were supposed to go down on day one.

While bearing in mind that the threatened tariffs have now been suspended due to Canada, Mexico agreeing to take action on the smuggling of fentanyl and illegal migrants from their countries into the U.S., yet the imposition of tariffs does not necessarily increase shopping costs. This is because the consumer has the option to buy U.S. products.

An issue could however arise if energy costs such as "gas" (U.K: "petrol") increased, and if so this could lead to an increase in the cost of food products that are transported (using any pricy gas) across the U.S.
The U.S. exports oil to Canada which refines it and then the U.S. imports that refined gas from Canada. Time for the U.S. to refine its own oil !

  • Tariffs on communist sombeitch china are only 10%, and I heard china will retaliate.

Whatever, we need to boycott the cheap, sometimes ingrediented with toxic byproducts chinese crap every damn where.

None of those things are mutually exclusive to nationalism. Control of the Panama Canal was advocated for by protectionists and globalists alike. The canal and a new Northwest Passage are far more strategically important to the well-being of Americans than Iraq and Afghanistan ever could. I'll concede that there's nothing protectionist about his Gaza proposal.

Zero chance we annex Canada and Greenland by force. Trump's interest in them tells you what he really believes about climate trends. More interestingly, NATO's Secretary General, who is a Dutchman, explicitly said "Trump is right" when it comes to defense of the Arctic from Russian and Chinese interests.

Panama... I wouldn't rule out forced annexation. People forget that we invaded it Desert Storm style, bombing the shit out of them after Noriega stopped providing any utility to the CIA. The Panamanian government seems to be playing ball after Trump's initial week of threats. Hopefully, soft power wins the day here.

His nonchalant suggestion to ethnically cleanse Gaza was hilarious, as noted by his Chief of Staff's reaction. Leavitt has already walked it back to "temporary relocation." Relocation of any kind is a nonstarter for the Arab allies and there's zero chance it happens. All of these things are Trump taking extreme opening statements as a negotiating tactic and using them to get concessions to something closer to the middle. He did the same thing his entire first term, and it's a big part of why his foreign policy was so successful. I'd take it all with a large grain of salt until a deal is actually made - remember, he started off antagonizing the head of a nuclear power and calling him "rocket man" and it ended with him being the first POTUS to be invited to NK in decades.

"Saying insane shit is all part of the strategy". Alright, let's just hope it doesn't turn into insane actions. Though we're at least at "crazy" and "ridiculous" actions right now.

You even conceded in there some of these actions don't exactly match the "we gotta fight the pedo elite deep states globalists!!!" crowd that blindly supports Trump. But, I mean, who cares about egg prices. They'll find a reason why invading Gaza makes sense for "Real America".

Also, I love the take that Trump is secretly completely understanding of the scientific consensus on climate change. A closet Greenpeace member, lol. He's going after Greenland and Canada because he realizes that will be prime real estate as the world continues to heat up, and even though he won't be around, he wants what's best for the country (or his Trump themed empire). Fucking hilarious.

But then again it's very similar to MAGA political figures railing against vaccines and medical professionals, to appease their idiotic base, while getting them and their families vaccinated immediately.
