I know its been over a year since this thread was posted but I just want to offer some information that both supports and explains what "calfoxwc" posted:

Firstly, Israel is Re-established within the Jewish ancestral-homeland. Internationally-recognized history shows that the last indigenous sovereign state in the land of Israel (Roman-imposed name “Palestine”), prior to the RE-establishment of Israel in 1948, was the post-Biblical Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom. It included: Judah and Samaria (since 1948 wrongly referred to as: the “West Bank”), plus Gaza, and Golan Heights.
    Capital (what is now referred to as “EAST”) Jerusalem / “Old City”;
between 110 BCE / 754 BH and 63 BCE / 706 BH - Map [URL omitting the "https"; otherwise it displays the map again]:
    upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4b/Hasmonean_kingdom.jpg

    Hasmonean_kingdom.jpg

The Roman occupiers of Israel imposed on it the name “Palestine” (from the (by then defunct) smaller Philistine region) onto the land, to seek to negate the names Israel / Judah; as likewise do today’s “Palestinian” Arabs and their primarily anti-Semitic supporters:
    https://www.encyclopedia.com/religion/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/roman-empire

Since there's no "P" in Arabic, in Arabic "Palestine" is pronounced: "Philistine" ("Filistine"), and the "Palestinian" Arabs also have zero connection with the ancient Philistines !

The Amended Palestinian National Charter (1968) - English, Article 5 defines the “Palestinians” as Arab:
    - - - - Start of extract: - - - -
“Article 5: The Palestinians are those Arab nationals [...]”

    Extract source:
    http://ecf.org.il/media_items/677
    - - - - End of extract - - - -

The “Palestinian” Arabs having considered themselves to be Arab only, this is why they were opposed to being called a “People” until the 1960’s, when they decided it fitted with their intention to steal the land of Israel from its indigenous Jews:
    http://www.targetofopportunity.com/palestinian_truth.htm

Israel (size of New Jersey state in the U.S., or Wales in the U.K.) was Re-established in 1948 following a United Nations Partition Plan in 1947 under resolution 181, which had sought to set up two states, one Jewish and one Arab. However, it takes more than one party to make an agreement:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine

The then Palestinian Jewish Community accepted the U.N. Partition Plan, while in 1947 the “Palestinian” Arabs commenced a civil war to oppose it, instead take ALL the land, and expel (or murder) the Jews.
Arab countries also attacked with the same objectives, but the Arabs lost the war.

There has never been an indigenous “Palestine” / Arab sovereign state in the land of Israel upon which the “Palestinian” Arabs could base any claim to any part of Israel.
The League of Nations in 1922 resurrecting the name “Palestine” from Roman occupation (see below), authorized a British Mandate; being an administrative region ruled by a foreign imperial power.

    - - - - Start of extract: - - - -
'[...] The word Palestine derives from Philistia, the name given by Greek writers to the land of the Philistines, who in the 12th century BCE occupied a small pocket of land on the southern coast, between what are now Tel Aviv–Yafo and Gaza. The name was revived by the Romans in the 2nd century CE in “Syria Palaestina,” designating the southern portion of the province of Syria [which included Roman-occupied Israel ...]
it had no official status until after World War I and the end of rule by the Ottoman Empire, when it was adopted for one of the regions mandated to Great Britain. [...]'

My extract was 34 words long, and having made a slight change is now 33 words long!
              Edit:
On review, I felt it necessary to take the whole paragraph, so that the quote is now 104 words.

I've now slightly corrected the extract I put, because Britannica have made some changes since I copied it to my research document.

If you want to check my extract you can use the link I provided to go to the Britannica webpage in question, and in your web browser use its Find... option to search for the words:
              "had no official status".

No, I am a nobody (though with legal training) who has over eight years experience rebutting anti-Semitic / pro "Palestinian" Arab hate propaganda against Israel / the Jewish people, on the now defunct (English) Yahoo Answers. This is how I know that you are one of those apparently rather rarer people who are expert on this subject! Have you considered (if not doing so already), rebutting falsehood against Israel on social media?

No, I'm just a guy. I took "Mideast Studies" in college before I went into the service, and was fascinated by it, which didn't happen very often. I was also fascinated by Freshman English III, which involved Joseph Campbell's "Hero of a Thousand faces" ...about his theory about all literature having common symbolic elements in it.

The history of the region was amazing, and the conflicts from the beginning of the history of it all, is a constant. From Muhammad ordering a Jewish settle to become "muslim", and they refused, and he killed all the men, etc.....

                    to Oct. 7th...

The Prof was a visitor to Israel many times, in his studies.

The history is complex and violent. And, as a cultural identification, the insane hatred still exists today.

Despite the political history, the modern dispute over the land of Israel is not one of religion, but can be sourced to the territorial ambitions of the "Palestinian" Arabs. The Media often say the "Palestinians" WANT various areas of the land of Israel for a state (typically: Judah and Samaria ("West Bank"), Gaza, and "East" Jerusalem), but one will look within that news piece in vain trying to discover upon what historical or legal basis that is; for there is none ! Nor are the "Palestinian" Arabs ever put to the trouble of being asked to explain it.

Here's an example why the dispute is not a religious one. The noble Quran refers to the ancient Jewish Temple at Jerusalem as a mosque! In Surah (chapter) Al-Isra (The Journey by Night) 17, the Islamic Prophet Muhammad was miraculously transported overnight, from the “al-Masjid al-Haram” (the Sacred Mosque) in the vicinity of the Ka’ba Mecca, to the Al–Masjid-al–Aqsâ (the Farthest Mosque) identified in Islamic teaching as the Haram al-Sharif / Temple Mount Jerusalem.

However, during the Islamic Prophet’s lifetime there was NO mosque in Jerusalem, as the Islamic conquest of Jerusalem did not take place until 637 CE / 16 AH, which was after the Prophet’s death in 632 CE / 11 AH. Therefore the “Masjid” [mosque] at the Al–Masjid-al–Aqsâ (the Farthest Mosque) to which the above verse refers, can only be the Jewish Temple.

You refer to today's 'hatred'. I would say that can be sourced to the "Palestinian" Arab side and not to the Jewish / Israeli side. The "Palestinian" Arabs and their primarily anti-Semitic supporters have no basis for claiming the land, which is why the "Palestinian" Arabs teach falsehood and hatred to their children in Palestinian education, in particular their school text books. I discussed that on the following webpage (in my first post on the page) [I've removed the "https" to prevent the System showing a graphic instead of the address:
                      www.thebrownsboard.com/topic/69432-outrage-as-drag-queen-leads-young-kids-in-%E2%80%98free-palestine%E2%80%99-chant-during-story-time-event/#replyForm
By comparison, Israeli education does not malign Arabs.

You will find that in any debate or attempted debate, when the other person lacks argument, if they make any response and cannot divert the subject, they tend to resort to emotion. The next time the general reader finds themselves in discussion with a "Palestinian" Arab or pro "Palestinian" Arab, I invite them to try challenging them to provide objective-evidence in support of their allegations against Israel, and then see what the reaction is !

By comparison, Israeli education does not malign Arabs.

You will find that in any debate or attempted debate, when the other person lacks argument, if they make any response and cannot divert the subject, they tend to resort to emotion. The next time the general reader finds themselves in discussion with a "Palestinian" Arab or pro "Palestinian" Arab, I invite them to try challenging them to provide objective-evidence in support of their allegations against Israel, and then see what the reaction is !

I thought it was obvious I was referring to the self-imposed plight of the aggressor hating "palestinians".

                        Certainly not the Israelis.

From the horrific crimes of mohammad's armies, the black september and grey wolved terror groups, to hamas/hezbollah/houthis, isis, al-quaeda, and whatever else groups I don't know.....

it's been a vicious, arrogant, violent, sick actions by "muslims" groups.

and the "palestinians" want Israel to not exist. It isn't just the West Bank, etc.

When I reply I do also have half an eye on the general reader who may not yet have made up their mind, and so I sought to make the matter clear for them that it is the "Palestinian" Arabs who teach hatred; no discourtesy intended.
