McShay's Way Too Early 2026 NFL Mock Draft

With the 9th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select T.J. Parker, defensive end, Clemson.

Just maybe they didn't like his team abilities that any good QB has to have. Too much Daddy in him to develop that well. He's on his own now and will need a lot of help changing that aspect of his game. That's where Flacco can help him the most IMO.

With the 32nd pick in 2026, Browns trade out....
Woofs
There was this Cleveland Browns fan (let's just call him Flugel?) who died and went to Hell. Devil sees him sitting over in the corner with a big grin on his face. He asks his new guest why he's smiling and Flugel says, "This heat can only mean one thing, it's preseason time in Ohio and football is just around the corner." Now this pisses the Devil off so he turned the temp up to Max and looks again at his guest. He sees an even bigger grin and asks why. Flugel says, "This can only mean one thing, it's time for kickoff of the first game of the season in Ohio." Now the Devil is seething so he turns it down to absolute zero, takes a peak over and sees our friend again completely blue with an even bigger grin frozen on his face. Once again the Devil inquires about this new development and Flugel replies, "This can only mean one thing, the Browns finally won us a damn Superbowl!!!!"??

Relentless! Make sure we remember him next year Dutch!

There are a ton of excellent CBs and OTs in the 2026 draft. Also one great safety. Y'all should already know where he comes from. Lot of good QBs too, but I am assuming one of ours rises to the top in 2025.?

Man I would looooove to have Caleb Downs be a Cleveland Brown.
An absolutely amazing player.

Caleb Downs is a hell of a player.
Going to have to see A LOT more from Drew Allar this season in order to justify a top 10 pick, let alone first round.

He's a local kid with a very good arm, good size and decent athleticism. There's a lot in theory to be excited about the kid.
But when push comes to shove he's just a JAG as of today. All the stuff above makes me want to think he's the guy the Browns should want, but then you watch him and he inevitably does stuff in crunch time that makes you just shake your head. That interception he threw to Notre Dame at the end of the game was inexcusable. When he played Ohio State you got the feeling their coaching staff had zero confidence in him doing the right thing around the goal line.

Ricky Stanzi
Mitch Trubiski
Brady Quinn
Craig Krenzel
Terrelle Pryor
Charlie Frye
.... I think you get my point. But you are right, the measurables are there.

We're lock stop in our assessment then. I need to see the mentals cleared up and a shit ton of consistency before I would draft him first round.

Obviously I hate OSU, but Downs is an animal. He was everywhere in the Michigan game (and other OSU games I watched). I'd love to have him on the browns

...just gonna say....waay too early. But with two 1st round picks we can possibly make big progress in '26. Or, we might have to package the 2 picks to move up near the top of the draft to reset the QB position yet again. 11 1/2 months of stuff in the way right now.

I know what Downs brings. If I have to nitpick he’s just very good in coverage. As an extra defender in the box going downhill and creating havoc - it is an elite tool. He’s enough to pass on a QB.
Im watching Nussmeier too.
It is hard to move off of what I think of Allar. His footwork too often is awful. He Beats up on the tomato cans. Can’t judge him too much for OSU 2024 he had a bum knee. 2023 the stat line was awful 42 attempts 191 yards. Oregon game last year he had some nice throws but again had a lot of skittish moments in the pocket. He’s had two seasons of protected playcalling. That alone makes you pause. Granted they had no receivers again in trying to give him the benefit of the doubt…but i can’t. Penn State is viewed by some (wrongly IMO) as the team to beat - in that case can he finally be great and warrant these lofty projections
-
How does the team with the 2nd worse record wind up with the 2nd hardest schedule?
Because they have to play 3 great teams in their own division twice each. Kind of hard to avoid more good ones in the rest of the schedule, especially if the commish wants to punish a poor owner into selling.

As much as I'm hoping we're not going to have a miserable 2025 season to the extent of drafting the best QB for our draft slot - I'm starting to change my mind a little about Cade Klubnik. I watched two 30 minute ACC previews just recently for Clemson and Va Tech. Yeah, life was that exciting. Anyway, it showed some things that lead me to believe this Klubnik will have a great season this year. I Googled up an AI overview that mentioned much of what I learned and here's a cut and paste of that:
Cade Klubnik will have a talented and experienced group of wide receivers to throw to in 2025. Specifically, he is expected to be throwing to Bryant Wesco Jr. and T.J. Moore. These two wide receivers had over 600 receiving yards each and combined for 21 touchdown catches in the previous season (2024). Klubnik's return and their presence is anticipated to bolster the Clemson offense. Additionally, Antonio Williams is also mentioned as returning to the Clemson receiving corps in 2025.
It's also worth noting that the Clemson depth chart lists several wide receivers, including Tyler Brown, Misun Kelley, Juju Preston, Tristan Martinez, Chase Byrd, Tristan Smith, Parker Fulghum, Clark Sanderson, Sammy Earle, and Clay Swinney, but the sources specifically highlight the experience of Wesco and Moore.
Stay tuned...
