I guess the steelers look forward to playing against watson again. They always won. Who knows. I don't know how much arm Flacco has left, don't know how good Pickett can be, I just don't know. lol.

If I had to guess, I'd say PIckett starts the season and surprises.

    Delusion is often tantalizing.

And Mary Kay is a fucking hack.

I wouldn't call her a hack. Being a reporter in this day and age is a hard job.  They have to push out so many column inches a week for the paper.  Add in a digital blurb a day that can't be a mirror of what they put out for print, and this is the doldrums for NFL reporting, so they have to reach deep in to the barrel to put out some sort of content.

Not that it was ever an easy job, but you used to have the newspaper, radio and the local TV channel news/sports/weather.  Now there's ALL KINDS of outlets reporting stuff. And all kinds of ACTUAL hacks who think that what they think matters.  Insiders, analysts, ex-players.  Just look at some of the stuff that Calfox dredges up.

I think that she does a pretty decent job...compared to a lot of the others.  And there's a LOT of others trying to horn in on the action....there's a LOT of competition.

On the football board I don't waste my time with the links, though I don't mind hearing his actual opinion. He has good things occasionally in the Barber Shop when it comes to outdoor stuff and gardening/canning.

There's something I found when I started my film reviews, that I onlu realized was significantly worse as I invested more and more time into this as a passion becoming a pursuit.

The internet has given people a voice.  Most honestly shouldn't use it.  But like being at any table for a gathering, you'll have original takes and words with substance; then you'll have those who repetitively mimic what they hear with minimum understanding, if not just outright repeating something with slightly altered phrasing to present as their own.

Or worse, those who say wildly inflammatory, short sided, inaccurate or poorly researched shit just to have a spot at the table and to make sure they are heard.

     It's a FOMO, in a sense.

Football, especially with the advent of the YouTube analysts now, is chalked full of them and it has created an overwhelming, formulated approach to "reporting" that is anything but.  No depth, little detail, but a shit ton of words.

I've previously used a lot of the Dawgs By Nature staff as my whipping boys.  Barry Shuck in particular because he's supposed to be their film veteran.  He's average at best with what he does.  My Facebook exchange with him about the Browns IDL in 2022, in particular Tommy Togaiai, revealed the lack of depth behind his understanding of the game.  But holy fuck, does he have daily content.

Truth be told, many journalists could have better content.  They don't because its a combination of a lack of knowledge, a lack of focus and a desire to produce it.  It's just easier to fart out a couple articles a week about the same shit you'll see a dozen other local media type report.

  • Mary Kay writes for the masses...the casual Browns fan looking for a 'brief' update on Browns stuff.  She's not playing to the small % that is the message board die-hards.  They can go snoop that stuff out with some googling.  She'll go as in depth as it pertains to the point of the media coverage of the player.  Which is usually superficial stuff.

  • Tony Rizzo has revealed that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam may already be looking toward the future as far as signal-caller is concerned.

Haslam's target? Texas Longhorns phenom Arch Manning.

“I know he would not admit it, and I know it’s nothing that they want to talk about, but I’m telling you the thirst that Jimmy Haslam has for Arch Manning is unmatched. Unmatched," Rizzo said. "You know the connection. The Haslams donated a ton of money to Tennessee. They have a good relationship with the Manning family. I don’t think it’s a coincidence they acquired a second first-round pick. ... It was described to me by a billionaire that said, ‘In a perfect world, that guy would be in Cleveland next year, and they would do anything to get him.'"

"The thirst that Jimmy Haslam has for Arch Manning is UNMATCHED," - @TheRealTRizzo has heard that the Browns owner LOVES him some Arch.

    Thoughts?

Anyone know if the homeless guy is still around?

I know there is a Haslam/Manning connection, but I just cannot see the Manning family allowing their kid to come to the Browns. I’m not even listing Arch Manning in the list of possible first round QBs in the 2026 Draft.

I don’t understand why Manning is viewed as even a potential 1st round pick anyway, other than his last name. He got beat out last year by a guy who was an eventual 7th round pick.

The last name and how highly rated a recruit he was. Homeboy has less than 100 college pass attempts I believe

Probably the same way the "Fail for Cardale" crowd was huge in January 2015.

Hype, a flash here or there and some national exposure can go a long way.  Toss in a big name and the projection multiplies 10fold.

I’m not torn on one thing…taking the under on OSU UT in a month.

Two “new” QBs against the saltiest Defenses…week 1.  All day.

our boy manning had one play in the semifinal game…got his helmet pushed into his face and lost the ball on patented Arch Manning scramble that Texas fans are raving about.  And four new offensive lineman in a loud stadium.

Well the way you describe it, perhaps you should take the parlay. OSU AND the under.

  • How long before Daddy starts complaining?  How come my boy is the only QB not getting any reps with the #1's?

  • Geez I'm so desperate for football season I watched that group above beat a dead horse to death fifteen ways from Sunday while watching women's football between D.C. and St. Louis on ESPN 2. I'm just pathetic.?‍?

If "Daddy" has any common sense... He would know this is good for Shadeur whether I like him.. Or not... There was a guy drafted ahead of him.. And two guys who are vets.. He needs to tell his son (if he doesn't know already) Respect and time is earned... Not just given on a silver platter..
