Explain your logic then. Pretend you’re good ol’ Goodell and your job is to increase fandom, viewership and of course profits for NFL teams. If you don’t do these things, you won’t get to be commissioner very long.

Where do you find non-traditional football fans? LGBTQ folks would likely be considered non-traditional football fans. A little marketing to them may go a long way. Some gay couples, especially gay male couples, make some bank. Think about it. Two incomes, likely no kids, and there’s a buncha hunky dudes to watch on the field.

Goodell has been active trying to make the NFL an international sport. It’s a good move if the goal is to increase the fanbase. There’s plenty of ethnicities involved with that, so why wouldn’t they be on board with ending racism? The goal is to increase the audience, not limit it.

Good God... you don't fucking get it... You're as bad as woody... Stay in your bubble... The point you seem to not understand.. Is you know Goodell the cuck motherfucker loves to hand out suspensions.. But its okay to push gay shit and divide more people with his woke bullshit platform...  Gay shit is mental illness.. Kids watch everything... if they grow up and become gay... Thats all good and fine.. When they are the appropriate age. But the league doesnt have to cram it in everyones face.... Most Trans people don't even like football... I have people in my family who are such.. Yes .. there are gay couples that love Football.. All good and fine... They shouldnt be denied...Like any other consumer... The NFL's ratings havent been great since idiots like Krappernick started turning it into a circus and kneeling during the Nat' Anthem.. Now we have... The black this... The black that.. The bulk of NFL revenue are the people who buy Merch and the Middle Class that can actually afford the exorbitant cost of seat licensing and seats.. And the NFL is doing it's best to make it hard to watch the sport when you have turd balls like Krappernick, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham with their "Me first" attitude...  Then they disrespect the fans.. And the country that allows them to become millionaires for playing a game... Then putting End Racism on each side of the field... Thats not awareness... That's fucking gaslighting...

I was hoping you’d give some insight on what you would do to increase the NFL fanbase if you were the commissioner. I wasn’t trying to prompt a meltdown.

Like l said, l don’t think any of us are big Goodell fans, but the owners keep voting him in so they must not have too big a problem with his methodology.

Putting “End Racism” in the end zones honestly seems like a safe bet to me. Who would have a problem with it except for actual racists?

You definitely have a different thought process towards gay people than l do. They’re just hardwired differently and it’s easy for me to accept that. If a few gay cheerleaders and supportive words is all it takes to pull in another demographic of football fans, it could be a smart move in the long run.

I also don’t know if you buy into the theory that “any publicity is good publicity”, but there’s something to it. It plants things in minds and gets them talking. Kaepernick hasn’t taken an NFL snap in almost a decade, and you’re still talking about him. See how they pull the strings? Genius yeah?

All those guys in their pickup truck caravans down here for Trump with their Confederate Flags flying on most of them would have quite a problem. This is no BS either. There were tons of 'em.

Interesting. What bends you outta shape about it? To me it’s kinda like the cancer slogan “Hope for a Cure.” It’s just one of those things we’ll see everywhere until it’s eradicated.

I don’t get why there would be opposition to it. I suppose there are weirdos out there that think cancer is a gift from God or something, but l think the majority of the population is hip to eradicating both things.

I see enough cancer at work that the susan g komen grift is the last thing I want to see when I turn on a football game in October. I'm watching football to forget about it for 3 hours.

Yes, and Cancer is a scientific matter and it is more of a bipartisan matter  we all want to eradicate it and support the effort to eradicate it.

the difference with “end racism”.  Me please!!!  I’d love for that to happen but I don’t think DEI programs (the biggest recent movement) move the needle in that direction and actually promote further political polarization.  I’ve seen it create resentment (not just with the typical white middle class male) and especially in the workplace and especially in certain places of the country where there is more diversity like CA.  Bottom line there is a lot of conflict with how we end racism.

let’s just start by being kind and not saying ignorant things to people

It doesn't bend me out of shape.  What bends you out of shape to assume I am a bent out of shape weirdo?

It doesn't carry much meaning and it isn't even used in proper context. I don't think racism is a bad thing by itself. It's a normal human condition.  I will assume you are white, just going with the percentages, if you walk in to a room and notice a person is black, you are a racist.  No big deal.

Bigotry is the problem. Only if you use the fact a person is white, black, brown, yellow or red as the reason to discriminate against them, then that is a problem.

End Bigotry would be a more on point term. That we might have a chance to end.  We will never end racism.

     That I can't argue with.

  • OK, Judkins has wriggled out of his legal issue.  So where does this saga go from here?  Who's currently sitting on their hands?  Is it that we won't sign him to a contract until Roger GoToHell puts him in time out in the corner?

Good question. I know a couple factors likely involved is that the players drafted before and after Judkins got guaranteed contracts, and that’s a dodgy thing to hand out to a player who may or may not be suspended.

Not that the Browns are strangers to such a scenario…
