I think there’s a real chance he doesn’t make the team
Nah....you know their ego regarding draft pick players.

The Browns traded up to get Mike Phipps at #3 overall in 1970; but when they drafted Brian Sipe in the 13th round in 1972 - should they have just kept telling Sipe "yeah but you've never been the plan man." They could have but a lot of us were ecstatic they didn't. It'll be interesting. Like Drew Brees (it took him 3 years of growing pains before Pro Bowl #1 the year rookie QB Philip Rivers held out), I think Gabriel will take longer to develop. If Sanders heats up - they gotta go with the better guy.
The Browns are gonna have to settle on a QB sooner rather than later and quit dicking around with the patience of the fan base.. Especially since they are basically ripping the fans off for the new Taj Mahal they wont be able to tailgate at..

There's 1 unpredictable factor in all this. Who's going to have longer early on growing pains? Steve Young got chased out of Tampa Bay by a media that caught Bill Walsh's attention in SF. Steve Young is a HOF QB today.
Buffalo had a plan for Josh Allen so they were actually ready to see growing pains they knew they could coach him out of rather than knee-jerk to a lesser talented guy that hopes to be a career back-up at best. Some young QBs get it immediately - others take longer. That ain't new! It is the problem this time of year; especially on a team divvying up reps between 4 QBs. I'd say 5 QBs ; but Pickett's pulled muscle has Huntley getting his reps for now. While I don't think (maybe just wishfully) Sanders is as bad as his performance was yesterday - that means I also need to acknowledge he isn't as good as his 1st performance was. What I mean is if he gets decent protection and there's a solid running game prong in the balance - I've seen him play well.
We've only seen both rookies twice. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I want them both to do well. My guess is if our FO wants to prove their plan is right especially after they played a big role in giving up everything for Watson - they were very happy our fans got to see what they saw yesterday. As someone once reminded us - their plan is Gabriel; but you might have to fact check me on the "once" thing...
-
I was actually excited when they took Zinter, he was a captain on a very good OLine... but it appears he's just not progressing at the next level. Perhaps its more difficult when you don't know what the defense is going to do prior to each play.

I completely agree.. You said it all better than I did.. My reason for going Gabriel is simple... He takes what the defense gives him. No he doesn't have an arm like Daryl LaMonica or Jay Schreoder. But he played against better teams in college.. He processes things lightening fast.. I'm not down on Sanders (Despite what others may think).. He's basically a good kid with a lot in front of him to learn.. And as long as Daddy stays away.. He has a chance to be exceptional under the right circumstances... I still think regardless of what happens.. My hunch is Jimmy has a big boner for Arch.. The jury is still out and time will tell on that one...

Me too Dutch! I think his mental game needs more consistency - which is the complete opposite of what I expected. Some guys just take longer than others. Let's hope he doesn't take as long as Austin Corbett took. Speaking of which, that guy just got a nice contract this off-season to stay at Carolina. On that film I singled Zinter out on for that mental blunder - he played pretty good after that.

I was actually excited when they took Zinter,
Sure. It was (still is apparently) a position that needed to be addressed. Fortunately Bitonio has given us another season.
...what is his plan here? Strong just runs past him as he's obviously not going to be of any help to him.

On screen passes a RB should usually exercise a little patience to let the blockers in front of him get to their blocks from the lanes they're in; or in this case - allow the blocker to create a running lane for him. Could there be one potentially setting up here on the outside of Zinter further away from defenders in pursuit?
FWIW, Zinter is a 3rd round draft pick (that came off a brutal compound fracture to the Tibia & Fibula in his final regular season game) that is only entering his 2nd NFL season. When both Bitonio and Teller have frequented Pro Bowls here - his learning curve on top of what he needed to overcome injury-wise wasn't slam-dunking immediate readiness to start and upgrade. I get more annoyed with guys for when they make mental errors. That's why I pointed out Zinter's mental error in pass pro on that video someone shared the other day.

Well said! If the Manning family was happy Peyton decided to return to UT for his senior year to 1 more full year of experience - my guess is they will want the much less experienced Arch to return to Texas in 2026 (while earning millions of $ doing so). As much as the Mannings like and appreciate Jimmy for what he helped set up for Peyton at UT, they're not about to get clumsy at thought with Jimmy's NFL history with the QB position. It's already being speculated that Arch will return to Texas in 2026 by some draft analysts already reluctant to list him as a 1st round QB prospect in 2026 draft class. That COULD change I suppose if Texas wins a Natty.

He'll make more $$ in 2026 if he returns, but risks the long term $$ if he doesn't come out and take the guaranteed money.

DTR was released by the Eagles yesterday. I don’t think that surprises anyone.
-
Reading that shed sander has an average time to throw of 3.96 seconds ..the highest by any rooking since PFF began tracking the stat in 2013.
Other notables
Tim Tebow 3.46
Justin Fields 3.50
Malik Willis 3.72

Of his first 6 throws, 4 are absolutely on shedeur. The OL wasn't incredible, but when I have side by side footage of Shedeur and Gabriel, with the latter properly executing the concepts decisively... it should be very cut and dry that he had a rough day.

Berry will find a way to bring him back.

He played like someone who doesn't have a good grasp of the offense.
He reminded me of Baker in his second season, when defenses made adjustments to him and it was on record that he put in little work in the off-season leading into the season. The second either thinks their might be pressure, they haul ass out of the pocket and all hell breaks loose.
-
The guy who traded him away?
Any other Berry in the FO?
I hope you understand I wasn't serious with that comment...at least 100%, but I am a bit down on Berry. I wouldn't be 100% shocked if he did.

The bulk of the time it was either him not starting his eyes in the right places. In one throw he was late to his third and in another he came off of his primary too quick after his slow processing removed his outlet throws on previous drives.
When he did have the read, the OL wasn't up to the task. On 6 throws, I count twice. So thats 2/3 on the rookie, 1/3 on the OL.
He had his eyes in the wrong places a few times in game 1. But his scrambling allowed him to work off script. The Rams flipped that script and this is what you got.
The Baker association doesn't feel like it's about not knowing the offense, but it does remind me of a direct quote from Baker who was talking about his improvement as a QB in year 3- the biggest was where he said he was starting his eyes. This is a shit ton like that.
But the media blame is the bigger issue. We're so quick to blame and say it's either this or that. It's a little bit of everything. A rookie having a really off game, an Oline that struggles every few snaps. Struggling to find rhythm or something good. I know that doesn't drum up the bias and arguments like people want, everything is an Us v Them narrative and it's shameful on top of being fucking exhausting.
What I watching from the offense under Shedeur reminded me of a clip from the Replacements...
I see people playing hard, but not technical, not sound and not smart. You're fighting hard and being buried.
