The Official Browns at Jets Game 9 Thread

BernieSuperBowl2

The Jets think they can out tank us for the #1 overall pick? Think again!

There's only so much regrouping you can do on a bye week.

I understand that to an extent.

Clearly they didn't emphasize the pre-snap penalty plague that's been here forever.

4th and 1 and they go empty backfield shotgun. So dumb

It has to be rehearsed to be that bad. To be fair to the coaches, you can't legislate for that level of stupity. KS looked like he was gonna cry ?

I'm curious what leads you to believe that? It's not like professional coaches see a problem and just say "Nah, that's fine".

We have an OL that's not talented and aged. It's showing in their form and execution, physically and mentally.

HURGENpooper

Bit late on this, had to take a moment, but I literally can't understand why you would do that in that situation, just f-ing stand still, you know they're trying to draw you off?. Oh well next year it is ?

tiamat63

Rees ran into the same play calling limitations Stefanski has.

How odd.

to late in the year to change the playbook or to add talent the O side of the ball

One would think so, yet here we are. I don't have the actual stats/game log in front of me, but I'd estimate there were at least 4 pre-snap offensive penalties today. This is the one major flaw in the Stefanski regime that drives me insane, and nothing has changed there over the years.

Yep, and one of the outcomes of being over matched is a penalty.

Right. If you call a run, you need blocking...whether you're Stef of Rees. If you call a pass, you need a minor miracle...whether you're Stef or Rees.

Very sad to statistically dominate the game, and lose. This time the ST's lost the game for the Defense. The D just cannot catch a break.

Behind just the joke itself, there's something to be seen in this play that highlights the desperate need for a QB and elite WR, or some vertical threat.

- Thrash pushing vertical on the left side of your screen and beating the DB.

- Late rotation from the corner in zone replacement on the right side of your screen.

If you have a tall, aggressive QB who can see landmark throws vertically and towards the middle, this could have been a huge gain.
