fucking stefanski going for it on that 4th down when the game was still in hand was just insane, never should have been called. just punt the fucking ball

Yea it was too far deep in own territory

  • Well after 3 games... I can honestly say "Shiddur" isn't the answer... He has 0 field vision... Misses many open field targets.. I can't take it anymore...

let him keep on playing and see what happens, lets not forget this post is coming from a guy who said Arch Manning sucked after 1 game and that Notre Damn was toast after 2,so please do not listen to this dimwit

Waaayyy too soon for that conclusion.  He's a rookie who's played 2  1/2 games.  I thought he played rather well.  No INT's.  And no passes that SHOULD'VE been and INT.  That's not nothing.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of it....but what's worse is having a non quarterback under center.  Fannin is NOT used to taking snaps from center.  It's not quite as easy as it looks.

Too many mistakes.  Mostly made on special teams.  Kicking it into the end zone before the half was a huge mistake.  I know that the wind was at his back...but still...ya can't do that.  And I was wondering when someone was going to mishandle a punt.  Of course, it was us.

The game was not as bad as the score makes it seem.  Was glad Myles got a sack...I loved when he and Purdy were smiling at each other...Purdy smiling like, Hey!  I'm not going to purposely let you sack me.  LOL

I would like us to stick with Sanders at QB for the rest of the season and try to find out if he can be the future starter for us.  I hope that he proves that he IS the man.  That way we can use our draft picks on OLinemen and WR's.

At least the Jets won so that we move from draft pick #6 to draft pick #5.

I'll add that Judkins had a good game.  That freakin' guy runs HARD.   Schwesinger had yet another really good game.  Fannin did well (aside from when he had to play QB).  Samson ran hard.

Tillman....sadly, he looks good getting off the bus but he is just not a productive receiver.

    agreed

  • So I just finished watching the game, couldn't watch it live.

    1. I'm all for Sanders starting the rest of the season. It's not going to be pretty, the last five games are all outside in northern cities and the OLine and WR unit makes this offense so limited. Still, I like what I've seen from him and am willing to let him finish the season.

    2. Three special teams blunders pretty much torpedoed this game. A huge return, a boneheaded catch at their own five on a kickoff destined to go out of bounds and a muffed punt pretty much guaranteed a loss.

    3. Mason Graham is going to be a problem for opposing offenses for years to come.

    4. That 4th and 1 from our own 32 looked destined to fail from the outset. It literally looked like the rest of the offense had to convince Fannin that yes, Harold, they want YOU to play QB on this play and sneak it.

    5. Fuck Michigan.

    6. The Browns have four picks that will be in the first 70 overall picks. At least three of them better be OLinemen and a WR.

Did they play him at FB or TE??

I totally disagree, he should have a 7 game sample size like Gabriel. Just as I stated pregame he needed his receivers to not give up on routes. Jeudy clearly did that today and was arguing about it with him on the sidelines. This offense maybe as bad as the Atlanta Falcons in the 90's who couldn't identify Brett Favre as a franchise QB and traded him to Green Bay. I'm not saying he's Brett Favre, he could be an Alex Smith good enough to stabilize the team so we can establish a system and winning culture then draft a Mahomes.

  • If we cared about the season Stef never would have went for it.(I like to think)

However, I agree with the radio broadcasters. I was driving at the time.

They had trouble getting out of the huddle and getting organized, at that point they should have called a time out.

That's the part I put on our HC. If you see things are a little messy, call it off.

I dunno man I watched him miss a bunch of open targets out there.. I was screaming at the TV... He doesn't lead anyone open either... I think he has backup potential.. That's all I see at this point

Yep. It was a Chinese fire drill, very rushed.

A young, relatively inexperienced team behind a subpar line trying to make a play.

I've been in Stefanski's corner, backing him up. Not so much anymore, there's simply too many mistakes on offense.

  • I watched approximately the first 20 minutes (real time) of this game in a McDonalds near Daytona driving back from Thanksgiving in NC. To keep it super simple- Sanders at least looks like a QB back there. IDK how else to say it, but Gabriel looked like the well meaning little brother who is trying his hardest but clearly can't compete.

Do I think Sanders has that factor to be the long-term guy? Probably no. But the tools he brings to the table are clearly more pro-level than DG just from this dumbasses simple view point. These last games have to be about Sanders learning to get the ball out more quickly, though. If he can't speed up the processing there's 0% chance he stays for more than a cup of coffee in the NFL.

You seem to be one of the more knowledgeable posters here, do you think Kev should stay?

     I appreciate that.

I suppose I can only answer that by saying, much like with Joe Woods, removing Stefanski must come with a clear plan.  A plan both coaching and with roster construction.

I'm not arguing that Stefanski is elite. That said, when the roster is even remotely capable, we've been a playoff team.  Hell, had the defense not been league worst on the IDL in 2022, he would have another wildcard berth under his belt.

Replacing Joe Woods wasnt enough. Had Schwartz been brought in and not received the massive infusion of talent with it, those 2023 results would not have been the same.  They brought in Tomlinson, Ogbo and Hurst.

Obviously I'm damn grateful for Schwartz being brought in. But the mindset to comprehensively fix the problem, top - down, was kept in mind.

So many HCs bring in their own staff. So speaking of Schwartz, if Stefanski is let go, the likely hood Schwartz going with him is strong.  It wouldn't be just your head coaching you lose.

A massive infusion of offensive talent is also a silent admission that not only the roster is a significant problem, the front office has let it decay to that point (like they did prior)

It sucks because my instinct is to want to win.  But, long term, the higher draft picks are the most necessary and intelligent strategy.

I know we've talked about this already, but it just seems like dead air and stale around this whole regime at this point, to say it as simply as possible. It doesn't smell awful, but it's absolutely a thought of what option "B" is. Practically speaking, I would guess that the Haslams knew this was a leaky ship and planned to give Kev at least next year.

  • This was a pure coaching loss, what happened to the 2023 Stefanski who beat an even better SF team with PJ Walker?

Judy didnt give up on the ball.  Chase Daniels has a good breakdown of almost every throw including this play.  Judy is running at full speed, at an angle, and the throw required him to turn "straight" to get to it.  The throw should be out in front of the direction he is running. Instead where it went Judy just cant get to it with the change of direction (try turning direction while running full speed, you lose some speed with the change in direction)

That said, the other nearby receiver, I think was Fannin, is also running towards same open area in front of Judy.  Both guys shouldn't be heading to the same area

Well, for starters SF didn’t miss 2 FG like they did in that 2023 meeting. CLE didnt have the same OL capabilities where in 2023 they ran for 160 yards.  ST in 2023 didn’t give up a 66 yard punt return.
