True. However both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll have Texas at 14 and Vandy at 12. And the last CFP Poll had Texas 16 and Vandy 14. They are still a 3 loss team.

Well, if you can't lose 3 games - you can't lose 3 games.

Texas at 13 but above 2 loss Vandy at 14. Vandy got screwed over but with two at large conference champs coming it at 11 and 12, who knows how it works out. For Texas to get in, 3 more teams have to be pushed out of the current 12 (which does not include those  at large champs at the moment). Bama, BYU could drop out with losses, but no one else until Texas screams "Fraud" a la presidente dictador.??

Thanks Aggies!  Below shows CFP rankings. It's well done so I cut and pasted the link and copied and posted the content below it.  Believe it or not, the biggest thing that jumps out at me is Ole Miss hasn't had record this good since Archie Manning played QB for them in the 60s; and those kids just got orphaned right before the College Football Playoffs.  Never been a Lane Kiffin fan - this assures me I never will be!   Wow!

    https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2025-12-02/college-football-playoff-bracket-based-current-committee-rankings

Here's a cut and paste of the article from the link above:

Here's how the 2025-26 College Football Playoff bracket looks, using the CFP selection committee's fifth top 25 rankings as announced on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

This is not the final, official CFP bracket, which won't be revealed until Sunday, Dec. 7. The bracket below is just how the CFP bracket would look based on the most recent CFP rankings.

    2025-26 College Football Playoff bracket

This bracket uses the fifth selection committee top 25 rankings from Tuesday, Dec. 2. That means the next rankings reveal will be when we get the official College Football Playoff bracket on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The top 25 ranking does not always match the seed in the playoff, as the five highest-ranked conference champions get in automatically, even if they are ranked behind teams in the top 25 or not ranked in the top 25 at all.

Here is the College Football Playoff bracket, from the Dec. 2 rankings

First Round (and related quarterfinal matchups)

    • No. 12 fifth-highest ranked conference champion at No. 5 Oregon
      • Winner vs. No. 4 Texas Tech in the quarterfinals
    • No. 9 Alabama at No. 8 Oklahoma
      • Winner vs. No. 1 Ohio State in the quarterfinals
    • No. 11 fourth highest-ranked conference champion at No. 6 Ole Miss
      • Winner vs. No. 3 Georgia in the quarterfinals
    • No. 10 Notre Dame at No. 7 Texas A&M
      • Winner vs. No. 2 Indiana in the quarterfinals

    College Football Playoff rankings, seeds

The four highest-ranked teams — regardless of how they finish in their conference — receive first round byes into the quarterfinals. These teams are listed in bold. The five highest-ranked conference champions receive automatic bids.

Here are the latest CFP top 25 rankings.

    1. Ohio State: 12-0
    2. Indiana: 12-0
    3. Georgia: 11-1
    4. Texas Tech: 11-1
    5. Oregon: 11-1
    6. Ole Miss: 11-1
    7. Texas A&M: 11-1
    8. Oklahoma: 10-2
    9. Alabama: 10-2
    10. Notre Dame: 10-2
    11. BYU: 11-1
    12. Miami (Fla.): 10-2
    13. Texas: 9-3
    14. Vanderbilt: 10-2
    15. Utah: 10-2
    16. USC: 9-3
    17. Virginia: 10-2 (would be fourth highest-ranked conference champion)
    18. Arizona: 9-3
    19. Michigan: 9-3
    20. Tulane: 10-2 (would be fifth highest-ranked conference champion)
    21. Houston: 9-3
    22. Georgia Tech: 9-3
    23. Iowa: 8-4
    24. North Texas: 11-1
    25. James Madison: 11-1

There is no re-seeding of the bracket after rounds.

The four quarterfinal games are not played on campus sites like in the first round. The quarterfinals, scheduled on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 — will be played at the Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. The four highest-ranked teams will be assigned one of these bowls in consideration of historic bowl relationships as well as seeding.

The four quarterfinal winners will then meet in the semifinals at the Fiesta Bowl or the Peach Bowl on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9. If the seeds hold, that means No. 1 would play No. 4 and No. 2 would play No. 3. The two semifinal winners will then play on Monday, Jan. 19 in Miami for the CFP national championship.

It'll suck to lose him but this was bound to happen soon especially since Ryan Day isn't going anywhere. USF a very good football program here in Tampa right now.  They handed North Texas their only loss. image.png.e2b8cd55dd122f249c57dacce5c4aef2.png

The previous HC Alex Golesh just got hired as Auburn's HC.

Aggies OC is going to be HC at his alma mater Kansas State, but not until A&M has completed the playoffs however far that takes them. BTW today was National Signing Day for recruits. How did MU, MSU and OSU let a damn good CB from Toledo escape to Aggieland? All 3 offered? Of course so did Tenn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Indiana and Oregon among many others. But then we signed 3 from Georgia in our top 5 that they wanted too. LOL!?

I am not sure why it has impacted recruiting today they lost a WR and could lose another.  He was as good as gone either this year or at the very least next year.  He wasn’t going to be around the next 3-4 years.

Big blow for recruiting….im mixed on his playcalling.  He develops the WRs well too…even if he’s got a lot of talent to work with

It definitely has affected today's WR recruiting, as 2 or 3 WRs have committed elsewhere.

Ohio State had great WRs before Hartline became their WR coach, and they'll have great ones after... but they need to fill his spot with someone who WR prospects want to play for - like Hartline.

I honestly wonder if Chip Kelly could be an option to come back next season to be Ohio State's OC again?

Yes.  I thought he was a better playcaller.  Word is he hates recruiting so you pair him with a WR coach that can do what needs to be done there maybe with an NFL pedigree too

The Ohio State legend hire would be JT Barrett as OC -- current coaching job is the QB coach for the Bears.. he's the guy who fixed Caleb Williams in just one season.  Hartline wasn't spending as much time in the WR room so either you hire a new one or Keenan Bailey goes to WR's fulltime.

I heard about Chris Henry Jr. earlier today. He’s considered one of the top WR recruits in the nation and son of a former Cincy Bengal. Apparently Hartline was a significant factor in him committing to OSU but he hit the pause button after hearing the news.

They have to spend hours on Miami vs Notre Dame.

No ACC teams (if Duke wins)

why a 3 loss Bama team is in

Why is Georgia ahead of Indiana when Indiana has a better loss.

talk about how everyone is sleeping on Texas Tech.

Personally I’m not in for banishing teams from the playoff because of one bad loss. But I think Texas is getting picked on for the Georgia game that wasn’t really competitive and even the OSU game where OSU just ran the ball over and over with their now 3rd or 4th string running back.

Notre Dame is unsettling to me.  Each year they take on the middling teams of each conference and build hype off of it.   I think the committee is setting a bad precedent when picking Notre Dame over Miami (same record) when Miami has head to head.

I going all in on Virginia winning the ACC it is too costly to the conference.

I think BYU keeps it close vs Tech

I got a OSU comfortably and Georgia narrowly.

Not sure Bama will be in with 3 losses.

And in 2020 Notre Dame lost their last game of the season 34-10 to go 10-1 while Texas A&M lost only an early game to #2 Bama to go 8-1 in the SEC (COVID year we only played SEC-no cupcake games). Yet ND was chosen to go play in the CFB P and got their ass handed to them by Bama 31-14. #5 A&M settled for beating N. Caro. in the Orange Bowl.

@sdbacker80 nailed it, but I think it's sad what has happened to CFB.

The BCS was better, but surely not perfect.

12 teams, soon to be 16, is ridiculous. Participation trophy stuff.

No, it hasn't but we have to assume it's coming based on the SEC & Big 10 opposing the current system (to a degree), and their money is going to do the talking. Thrown in ESPN, who has become ridiculously biased due to their SEC contract ties, it will happen sooner than later.

I'll search for the article I read last week. Basically the SEC & Big 10 are pushing hard for automatic qualifiers from their conference, with the SEC wanting 4 auto bids, the Big 10 wants 3.

The expanded conferences make this really tough, obviously. Things can't be settled on the field to determine a true conference champion anymore. It's a sham based on big money.

But yeah, I'll watch it because I'm a football addict.

Another dangerous precedent if Bama doesn’t get in with three loses.  All the teams playing this week are playing an extra game. Would Bama be better off “taking a knee” and forfeiting then?  And Notre Dame will never have conference championship game.

A&M got screwed that year.  OSU got in too with 6 games played or something like that we certainly benefited
