The Official Browns vs Titans Game 13 Thread

  • Sanders played solid in a difficult situation. No run game, J. Simmons wreaking havoc on the poor OLine, Special teams playing poorly..
He has to clean up the patting the ball.

I would be surprised if Stefanski is coach week 1 next year. Too many questionable decisions have accumulated from a game management perspective. Unless this is a tank job.

Kevin shouldn’t be the coach tomorrow

  • Bubba Ventrone is the Freddie Kitchens of special teams coaching.

I want Stefanski and Ventrone gone tomorrow, or Christmas is cancelled.

  • So I didn't read any of this thread, so my deepest apologies if I just end up repeating others...

    1. Sanders really showed me something today. Yes, I know, the Titans suck... but so do the Browns, and he looked way better than Cam Ward did. He had some bad plays, of course, but he made some of the prettiest throws you'll ever see. We have four more games, but unless the wheels come completely off I'm definitely pondering the idea of letting him be the starter next season. I'd like to see what he could do with a full off-season.

    2. I'm assuming Pocic's season is over, so we'll get to see extended time with his replacement Luke Wypler. He might end up being the starting center for the Browns based on what he does down the stretch.

    3. I'm sure people lost their minds regarding the two points attempts vs just kicking the extra points and tying the game. Honestly, I didn't mind going for two twice. Its the end of a lost season, I don't mind when a coach decides to win or lose the game in regulation. Problem was that Sanders lost the snap on the first one, and Judkins literally lost his mind on the second one. According to the post game show if Judkins had actually pitched it to the WR like he was supposed to he would have walked into the endzone.

    4. So in Sanders' press conference after the game he was asked about the second two point attempt, and he talked about it for a little bit and mentioned something about running the play in practice. Some reporter smart-assedly asked "Did it actually work in practice" and Sanders - without missing a beat - shot back: "No, it didn't work in practice. We like to run plays in the game that don't work in practice..." I laughed and laughed and laughed. Dammit Shadeur, you are almost forcing me to like you!

    5. Lost in the two point drama that will be the topic of local sports shows is the fact that the defense really let the team down. Tony Pollard had a long of 21 yards rushing this season before today, where he scored on two long runs that totalled almost 100 yards.

    6. Since my only two Browns jerseys are Nick Chubb, I've been contemplating getting a new one. I think I'll be getting a #44, gotta represent the local kid. Fannin had a helluva game. Speaking of ends that are tight, hate to see Njoku get injured, but that was one helluva throw/catch for a touchdown. I hope that wasn't his last play in a Browns uniform, but if it was, hats off to the Chief.

    7. Another Sunday, another shit show from the (not so) special teams. Good times.

    8. Dog I love this rookie class.

Good post. You got a link to the Sanders press conference? He’s a quirky dude in front of a microphone from what l’ve seen thus far. Would be good to see that quirkiness get parlayed into a net positive.

I was stuck with the radio feed. I miss Jim Donovan real bad. I don’t want to dog on the new guys and l appreciate their work, but Jim was truly special and had a knack for raising the bar in the “painting pictures” department.

I suspect Maliek Collins is a big missing piece of the puzzle as far as the defense goes. He was a great signing and l hope he gets back on the horse.

Question is right off the bat

  • It sucks to lose.

Bad idea to throw resulted in a Shedeur INT.  Bad Shedeur.  But a GOOD Shedeur for much of the game.  With very little talent around him.  Larvadain plays and Thrash is inactive.  Son of a Bitch I wanted Thrash to be good!  🙁  We NEEDED Thrash to be good.  Good game Shedeur!  I'm happy for him.  I've been in his corner since January.  He's made great strides since that Rams game in August!  Apparently though, it's ok for opponents to whack him in the head.  (man I held my breath when big, fat #93, Sweat, fell right on him)

Our special teams are sooo bad that the kicker is told to just boot it out of the end zone and let them have it at the 35 instead of trying to tackle a guy.

Another game, another reception for Tillman.  And none for Bond.  That WR room is an anchor.

We lost another OLineman.  (get well Pocic)  Unless we get one or two starters back next week Bitonio will be the only starter out there.

Our run D had a humbling game.  Sad to see that.

Fannin is good.  (like that's news to anyone)

Saints won, we move up to #4.

  • Sanders looked good with a few notable exceptions but he's a rookie. Hard to out this loss on anyone but the coach with the benefit of hindsight.

To me the loss was on the defense which did not come close to their norm.

  • I hate to see the loss no matter what the ramifications for the draft might have been if they won. The rally to come back to bring it to the point where there was a potential tie  was maybe the most heart the browns have shown in years.

Sanders is winning me over. The sanders bandwagon circus will never win me over but putting that aside as something I don't actually have to interact with, the kid has a little heart. I like that.

Exactly, Maliek Collins absence was felt and it looked as if they gameplanned so Myles could break the record at home. Pollard was feasting all day on filling the void left after 95 rushed vainly and Schwartz wouldn't counter it.

  • Sanders impressed me today. There were also times where I think he lapsed into his bad habits. But some of his throws and quick decisions were a nice sign of him growing into the role.

I was a big fan of Tyler Warren in that draft, and Fannin fits that mold - he is a heck of a football player. The rb's are terrific, our oline is pitiful.

Tennesee seemed to have a better oline, and their playcaller had the Browns' defenses' number every so often, fooling them.

seems like something is really wrong with special teams.

Stupanski is the problem. Going for two was pretty much stupid. Twice. My two cents, I get tired of watching the Browns run on first down so much. Defenses see it. But they did call a pass on first down at least once. yay.

Almost as stupid as one of the college teams throwing a low percentage sideline pass over a CB trying to drop it in the bucket on 4th down inside their own 20. They had to go for it to stay in the game, but the choice of plays was just plain made for failure just like taking out Sanders was just plain stupid.

  • All -22 isn't available yet.  But the Titans running strat *appears* to have been pretty simple.

    - Get the Browns in their over front (3tech to strength)

    - Watch for the spell on Shelby Harris

    - Get Kamara slid over to the shade

    - Duo Sam and run weakside.

    - Profit.

  • I was wrong.

    - Sam is the 3tech

    - Reach the backside 1, cut him off.

    - combo the playside 3t

    - Center climbs to the LB

    - profit

    Simple. Effective.

Yep, they exploited MG’s outside position.

It made for a natural running lane, I expect future opponents to do more of the same.

I recall this being a major problem in earlier iterations of Schwartz's defense here and looked like it had been solved this season. I mentioned here earlier, was this because they designed the defense to facilitate Myles getting the sack record yesterday?
