With his 364 yard passing performance Shedeur brought us from 31st to 28th in passing.   But our run D fell from 10th to 13th.  With the Bears being 2nd in the league in rushing we could slip farther down the rankings if we don't shore things up.  The Bears young QB has made real progress this season.  Although they're only ranked 19th in passing, they don't need to pass as much as other teams.  153 yards rushing per game can certainly wear down a defense over the course of a game.  We've got to stifle that run game of theirs in order to force them to throw at our 2nd ranked pass defense.  The problem here is that we count on pass rush pressure to help our DB's.  The Bears have given up less than two sacks per game.  They obviously have a pretty darned good OLine.  We've gotta get one of those somehow.

The Bears are a half game out of first in a heated battle with the Packers & Lions for the divisional crown.  They haven't experienced this kind of success in quite some time.  I don't expect them to be looking past us and having a casual preparation week.

Do we need a win here on the road, this late in the season, while sporting a 3-10 record.  Hell Yeah!  We just had our rookie QB set a Browns record for passing & TD's in a game.  And we lost the game to the worst team in the league.  BitterSweet, with the accent on bitter!  If we can win this game, with a solid performance from Shedeur, it will be a message sent to the entire league that HEY!, we've got a little something here in Cleveland.  We just need a few of you upcoming free agents to sign on to help block and catch balls for him and we'll be in the hunt for a championship.  It's all up to Shedeur to pull that off.  It's a lot to ask of a rookie.  But it's not new to him.  He had the same situation in college.

Would winning any/some/all of these final four games help us in the draft?  Hell no!  Right?  But if Shedeur plays solidly (doesn't have to be great, just good, smart and solid playing) then it WOULD help us in the draft.  Because we would then not be looking to trade assets to draft Mendoza, the QB, and we could concentrate on improving the OLine and WRs.  Doing that would move us forward.  Drafting Mendoza would mean a learning curve for him and would reduce our draft assets to get him the quality OLine and receivers that are needed so badly.

In some other thread I'll root for a better draft position for us.  But not in this  thread. (THIS week anyway)  🙂

  • Yep, should be a good test.

I want a W, but you painted a good picture of how the Bears operate. Physical O line & an improving QB.

I'd much rather see the Bears succeed than over- hyped & over- exposed Green Bay.

I think this will be a close game. Go Browns.

  •  What has improved most with the Bears has been the Oline and running game.   Caleb has fed off that improvement and its protected him as the season has progressed.

Ben Johnson is as creative a coach from the under center running game as you'll find.

Part of me fully expects CHI to pick up where TEN left off.  I hope Schwartz doesn't blitz himself into more trouble.

  • Will watch the game to see if Shedeur continues to develop when challenged with decent defenses and if Schwartz can outscheme Ben Johnson and get a few sacks for Myles. I don't expect any more wins this season.

Let's hope our plan is to stop the run. Myles will find a way to get his sacks on his own. I hope he breaks the record and then some but not at the cost of compromising our D.

Same here, I've been pleasantly surprised by him and it's made the game more enjoyable even with a loss.

As mentioned by others, if Mendoza isn't our guy, would love to see the 1st few picks address o line and WR and maybe restock a 1st round for next draft.

  • Pretty Frosty!  And winter doesn't even start for almost two weeks.

  • Brrrr!

The Bears were taking about a new domed stadium before we were, but it’s been quiet lately about that

  • Jerome Ford is put on IR.  He was our primary KR.  And they liked using him on 3rd down.  He did a good job in both roles.  They signed Trayveon Williams off the Chargers PS.

Williams was with the Browns earlier, so they are familiar with him already.

I thought so.  TC & PreSeason, correct?

He didn't make the 53 and was placed on the PS for about 2 weeks before being cut. From there he went to LAs PS about a month and a half later where he remained until we signed him. I assume this means he is now on the 53 since you can't just move someone from one team's PS to another without fully activating. I think he's better than Ford (the blind man) because he has better vision. He had over 3,600 yds rushing in 3 SEC years with A&M. Plus over 500 in receptions.

  • Yes, he's gotta be on the 53.  I remember that I kinda' liked him in preseason.  He ran hard and was tough to bring down.  Of course he didn't gain much yardage...because he was a Browns RB with no place to run.   (the blind man  lol)

  • Keep an eye out on the weather, right now the forecast is pretty brutal with the wind & cold.

while these two teams are obviously used to playing in the blistering cold, this might be a little extreme, even for them, with temperatures around -20 degrees:

“It’s going to be FREEZING in Chicago for Browns-Bears on Sunday,” Yahoo Sports posted on X.

This might not be safe for people in attendance at Soldier Field. Then again, the show must go on,

.....Yup, the show must go on.  Of course, we don't know for sure what the temperature or conditions will be from today until Sunday but let's just say the temp is somewhere below negative ten degrees.....that's not good for the human body / skin.  And as for the 2 teams being used to playing in the blistering cold, that's bullshit.  If it's too cold outside they practice indoors.  Nobody likes playing in those temps.  The ball slides through your frozen hands no matter which uniform you're wearing.

  • Well at least our QB played in Colorado where it can also be cold and windy.

  • Well, we didn't get back Conklin or Teller....so....Bitonio is the only starter on the OL.   🙁

    Injury report: Browns - Out:

    Right tackle Jack Conklin (concussion),

    defensive tackle Adin Huntington (quad),

    tight end David Njoku (knee),

running back Dylan Sampson (calf, hand),

    right guard Wyatt Teller (calf),

    cornerback Denzel Ward (calf), and

    quarterback Deshaun Watson (Achilles).

    Questionable:

left guard Joel Bitonio (knee, back),

    wide receiver Malachi Corley (concussion),

    defensive tackle Mason Graham (ribs),

wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion, ribs),

    guard Zak Zinter (back).

    Bears - Out:

    Defensive back Kyler Gordon (groin)

    running back Travis Homer (ankle).

Questionable: Wide receiver Rome Odunze (foot).
