  • Towards the end of the game when Sanders threw the INT towards Fannin, the color commentator says, He's targeting Fannin too much.  He's got to learn not to do that.  And I'm like, What?  Who else is he supposed to throw to?  I mean, Who would YOU be looking to?

When Jeudy shows up as Dwayne Bowe we have ZERO yes ZERO viable outside targets unless Fannin splits out. We have had 26 renditions of Browns football since our return this is the worst WR group

He should be looking for the all star Jeudy.  After he plays soo hard just like he did on the TD pass,  er interception.

Seriously, did you look downfield on some of the plays?  It seems like our WRs are telling the defense their routes as they line up

Because the coach sucks. The other team only has to prepare for 8-10 plays.  We have NO way to adjust to what the defense is doing

Well it is hard to threaten the deep pass when your line cannot block and your wrs cannot catch a handoff, let alone a pass.

  • I remember one play where the Bears blitzed and we had a perfect screen pass called.  There were 2 big fat OLinemen out front of the receiver about to catch the ball.  I was thinking, Yeah, this is goona be good!   But NOPE!   The 2 OLinemen might have well been 2 scarecrows on sticks in a farmer's field.  The defenders went around and between them without even being touched.

The QB & Receiver did the exact right thing....with absolutely zero chance of success because we have the worst OLinemen in the league.

Yeah, the entire offense was bad they even gave him the wrong playcall wrist band to start the game.

We're just playing out the string on offense the rest of the way out.

A rookie QB behind this OLine with these WRs honestly is a recipe for disaster. I have no idea if Sanders has legit starting QB ability long-term, but I'm not writing him off because of these this last month of games.

The good news, I suppose, is that the team we played today had a horrible OLine last season too. Look at the Bears offense now.

When you have an Oline - you can rank 2nd at running the ball out of 32 teams like the Bears have accomplished as depicted below. Their QB is also improving after a rookie year where their fanbase thought they got it wrong again; because success running the ball sets up play-action passing.  The Oline matters even though people cringe at the thought of drafting them.  If you need at least 5 every week (considering injuries over 17 weeks) - this team is way behind too many teams with talent on the OL.

The good news is the Bears seemed to fix their Oline in one off season. I recall during the broadcast they talked about how they got a new center and 2 new guards, so the IOL was brand new as of this year.

If they can do it, maybe we can too.

Yeah, people were ready to write off Caleb last season and tbh he looked pretty bad, holding the ball too long taking sacks, couldn't read the field etc but look at what an offseason (and new coach) did for him. People shouldn't make the same mistake with Shedeur.

Not only that but Jeudy tried to body-catch the deep throw that bounced off his chest into the cradle of the DB that had him well covered. That was the INT at the goal-line/endzone. When Jeudy is our #1 WR - we're in trouble.  2 of our 1st 3 picks need to be OL and 1 should be WR.  The volume of OTs is said to be weak so waiting until round 6 thinking there's a modern day Cody Risien for the right team or holding off for Undrafted Free Agents thinking there's another Tony (T-Bone) Jones ready to be a solid LT isn't advisable with the 2026 supply for the demand...

Agreed!  That's exactly why I posted what I posted.  If you can have the 2nd ranked running game - it opens up your play-action pass game and gives you doable 3rd down conversions. Caleb's stats are improved especially his TD:INT ratio but he's still only completing 58% of his passes (shown below).  I'm not gonna judge Sanders by THIS OL and Jerry Jeudy's rock quarry for hands.  Legit #1 WRs would have caught that ball at the goal line instead of had it bounce off their chest into the DB's hands that had him tightly covered...  That said, I wish Sanders played better; and I also would have liked to have had our plays into the QB quicker every time the offense took the field.  There were numerous times they barely got it snapped in time.

Problem is I believe the three interior OLinemen they got were all veterans acquired through trades/free agency.

Our cap problems makes doing something like that difficult

That was inexcusable for Jeudy, I recall Lavardain being unable to bring down a similar catch in the Baltimore game but he's a UDFA rookie. We need a true WR1, hopefully Bond can grow into a WR2 and Jeudy drop to WR3.

Correct on Jeudy. I still don't understand why the Browns extended his contract when he hadn't played a down here yet.

The Lavardain play looked like DPI to me, but since it wasn't called you have to credit the Ratbirds defender for ripping it out.

Let's build the trenches in the draft first, maybe for once we get lucky on a WR in round 2 or 3. There's a real possibility we will have pick #1, 32, & 33 ( meaning Jax wins the SB?).

  • Met some friends up in Cleveland, got an Airbnb a couple houses down from the Christmas Story House, got dinner at Mabel's and watched Ohio State win a thrilling double OT game vs West Virginia by one point Saturday.

Got up and walked down to the Rowley Inn (like Mabel's, I highly recommend this place) for a great breakfast, then drove north to Ohio City and grabbed a few drinks at a place called the Old Angle Tavern, a nice Irish bar.

    Then the Browns game started.

    Sigh. ?

we stayed at a Hilton the entire area decked out for the holidays, well the next morning we went to a place called grits and gravy (one of the few black owned restaurants in the city) food was awesome and we made our way to the train station, A half hour delay turned into a 2 hour delay, so we found a sports bar ( called fields , a real nice place for the location) all I can say is thank god for alcohol cause that was some ugly ass shit to watch, oh well Portland is not burning down as some orange guy said and I did not see any homeless eating cats or dogs

  • All-22 was out early today.    Bears picked up where TEN left off last week with the run DEF issues.

Once they got Mikey Hall and/or Sam Kamara on the field, they had efficient runs then explosive runs.   Even Shelby Harris struggled at times.   Browns are losing the battle on the IDL more and more without Maliek Collins.

A couple questionable designs (so far) by Schwartz when the Bears went heavy(ier) and ran the ball, and some non-existent defensive checks that should absolutely have happened when CHI went with their 2 TE, YY looks.

Defense did an admirable job cleaning things up after the first couple drives, but the lack of offensive support only lasts so long in the modern NFL.

I'm not aiming this at you as much as it is an ideal place to put it.  We can draft 2 Tackles this year within the 1st 3 picks and get a very good WR with the other one.  Again, Tackle volume isn't deep in this draft so it isn't the type of draft you can wait for 2 positions that sunk this team all year.

Be that as it may, our IOL guys are paid mighty well already, so it stands to reason we can afford it. There were a few plays the Bears’ IOL really popped. The push was noticeable.

Wasn't *just* the push - Ben Johnson has done a great job getting his OL setup to utilize good angles by design.

Players have to win their assignment and be setup to win that assignment.

All credit to the Bears coaching staff, it's an impressive young group so far. They've improved defensively as the season has gone on as well.

I like to put jelly in my grits. I know that’s an embarrassing thing to admit.

Biscuits and gravy is one of my most favoritest things in the world. Splash some hot sauce on it. That’s basically how l imagine heaven.
