Myles Garret traded to LA Rams

I hope not.
IF Arch comes to Cleveland, the Manning family will be welcomed with open arms and offered to buy equity in the team- I'd almost guarantee it. Easy way to drum up interest in the new stadium. See Tom Brady and the Raiders. Also makes it way less likely for him to pull an Eli to the Chargers moment.
This is why there was a strong case to hold onto him. This may shock the world but not every team can fit Myles in financially or can handle the asset departure and some aren’t at a point and time where it makes sense. So we didn’t have 25-30 offers.
You don’t get like for like with a first ballot hall of famer with prime years left. Because you aren’t getting that player in return at a premium position. They are unicorns.
So you hope Verse becomes very good and hits double digit sack numbers and you use all these picks now to hopefully find us the best QB we’ve had since Graham or Kosar. And the money you aren’t paying Myles you take it and spend it wisely adding some other talent. Hopefully 4 or 5 equals 1.
Indeed, my friend- indeed. We saw a small glimpse of Myles with competent QB play in 2019-2020 and, God willing, it would have been awesome to see that in three years with an up and coming rookie QB. Alas, three years in NFL terms may as well be a decade in others.

Do you see franchise QB in Arch Manning?
Me neither.

The other thing to remember in all of this- there was NEVER going to be a package that was fair for Myles Garrett when you really think about it. The man when it's all said and done could easily have both the highest single sack season and the all-time sack record, it addition to them already fitting his gold jacket. This is all in the context of him being in his physical prime.
I can tell you this much, though- I ain't buying a single sunday ticket package or anything other than sailing the high internet seas to watch the Browns this year. I completely understand why this happened, but it's not going to be pretty this year.

Looks like the Rams first 2 years of cap hit are minimal, then 98 million the next 3 years.

I'll be honest man, there was a time where I'd follow that sort of stuff to a science. Between kids and other priorities in life my football watching time is way lower yet alone the deep dives into footwork, release angles, and all that jazz. So truthfully I have no good basis to make the answer yes or no.
All I know is the dude checks off a lot of boxes you want at the QB position and I think it made a lot of sense to go back to Texas this year. He would have for sure gone top 5 if he declared this year on potential alone.

So the 2029 third round pick is a conditional pick, apparently.
If the Rams trade Myles to an AFC North team, that pick becomes a first rounder

-
Just reinforces what I said about this being a good trade for the Browns. 2nd best run defender in the league and others coming? What more would you want?
yet people still bitch, local la sports radio are saying they gave up to much

As noted on social media, including ESPN Cleveland, looking at what the Browns gave up and got in return in those three deals is an interesting way to evaluate Berry’s overall trades and remaking of Cleveland’s roster:
Traded Away
- Travis Hunter - Jaguars 1st round pick
- RB Bhayshul Tuten - Jaguars 4th round pick
- S Rayuan Lane III - Jaguars 6th round pick
- CB Greg Newsome II (Jaguars traded away the 6th round pick they received in the deal, in a smaller deal)
- DE Myles Garrett
Acquired in Trades
- DT Mason Graham
- RB Quinshon Judkins
- RB Dylan Sampson
- WR KC Concepcion
- DE Jared Verse
- CB Tyson Campbell
- 2027 1st round pick
- 2028 2nd round pick
- 2029 3rd round pick (that could become a 1st rounder)

Great! Let's trade with the Rams to get him back in a couple of years.

Seriously, how good does that trade in the 2025 Draft with the Jags look now?
Hunter - the generational unicorn that will revolutinize the NFL - is already relegated to basically being a cornerback only. I wonder if he'll ever be at even a Denzel Ward-level, and the Browns didn't have to trade away a first and second rounder to get Ward.

It all depends on what you do with the picks you get...so, in this trade, it Looks great!
In the Myles trade we get a younger player who has shown very well in his 1st 2 years. So we DO have a bird in the hand...and 3 in the bush. In theory, the last part of the trade, the 3rd rounder, won't have to ever play in the cold weather of Cleveland.

And I'm seeing some national commentators saying the opposite and using Verse's run stopping/QB pressuring/maul OL style as not too much a dropoff plus 3 young ones for the future.
what up with the board ?

It was down several days so I contacted Tom Flugel who had Steve's number to call (which he had done already). I'm glad to see it's up even though it looks a bit strange.

I didn't call Steve - I texted him after I was contacted by you, Tia and CD. I had also previously emailed Dutch to find out if he had access to the message board and he didn't either. So, now I looked to the ph# I had for Steve that I got at a draft party Canton Mike threw in 2016 and I informed him the message board was down. I try not to be up his ass about the message board after learning from Stan (Atenears) how much he hated cry babies and a small contingent from the poli board "party of 1" that was addicted to tattling. I'm guessing that's been somewhat resolved as of late.
Steve texted back that he'll work on getting the graphics and colors back next week when he's back in town. Not much news happening beyond reading about the QBs and Jared Verse has played 2 NFL seasons and earned Pro Bowl honors both times; EXCEPT for Joel Bitonio's retirement that could be found on the Browns website anyhow.
