speaking of wr's being cut seems a udfa from some small ass collage Floriea will make the team again this year, who was that that talked shit about small collage guys that go undrafted ? I forgot who , must not be that important of a poster

I give you credit.
I just can't handle Cleveland radio sports talk anymore. It's all "good cop vs bad cop," takes. Long gone are guys like Geoff Sindelar, who seemed to have balanced takes.
Here's the thing (and this is more for the out-of-town Browns fans on here), I can't think of one local sports guy who wants Watson to win this battle. Not one guy on The Fan, not one writer, beat reporter, or guy on shows like The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show. There is no "Watson Clique", despite what some unhinged Shadeur fans on-line might say. Any criticisms or critiques on Sanders is considered "hater talk" or even more laughably, racist. I mean, Sanders' competition is another black fellow.
If/when a local guy says that they think, or have heard, that Watson has the lead, it isn't because they are rooting for this. Zac Jackson and Jason Lloyd have both openly thought the idea of Watson ever playing for the Browns again as a complete waste of time.
So I think the coverage on this has been balanced. The guy no one wants to start is being talked about - probably accurately - as the guy who most likely is somewhat to solidly in the lead.

The biggest problem with 100% of that Dutch is in spite of ALL that above - Watson is here with the biggest guaranteed contract we've ever seen at the most important position on this franchise in franchise history. It's a persistent distraction that flares up any time he gets injured/reinjured to the extent he's never going to be that guy that was good or great as a young Pro Bowl QB that erased a late deficit vs Josh Allen's Bills in the playoffs. As I said in this thread yesterday - the earlier version was a million miles ago.
That Houston franchise has most recently turned an (AP) NFL Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud into a QB that lacked a lot of confidence and poise in himself. One has to wonder if it's just a mere coincidence or an inevitable destination for the most important position on their franchise. What do they have in common with Cleveland - an ownership that repeatedly didn't understand all that goes into developing a young QB from their very 1st pick David Carr and forward. Okay so what about C.J. Stroud's Rookie of the Year proving there was development Flugel? First, I LIKE the guy and can't imagine he can't get coached back on the right track again. I don't see enough of their games to give an accurate summaty on him. They have very good WRs there for so here's one of the media analysts in the video link sharing what he's seen in Stroud's recent trend of concern there:

Well, not that he WANTS him to win the battle:
āIf you want to, just name Deshaun the starter and letās get going. Iām dead serious. Iām not the only one accepting reality here. Iām not the only one. Thereās reality to real Browns fans and then thereās whateverās going over the internet. Yeah, you know who I want to start, but I will accept the reality of a first-time head coach, knowing the nature of the business, and needing to win. If a veteran is able to get them in and out of the huddle and knows a little bit more of things, Iām willing to accept the reality,ā Carman said.

I have zero problems with what Ken Carman says here.

Right. Ken Carmen, you, me, all of us don't want Watson to be the starter. That's because we're allowed to view things through a different lens. A coach can't use that lens until hopes for the playoffs have been extinguished. And as you stated, even if Watson is named the starter, it won't be long before he hurts himself and Shedeur gets to play.
edit and add: .....perhaps there's still hope.

āShedeur was great today. I wasnāt sure, maybe Saturday [he] wouldāve preferred to be with the ones, and Iād be [angry] if he wasnāt, because all of our guys should want to be with the ones. Iāve always said that about Shedeur. But even over the last week or so, Deshaun has played better, heās looked better, heās made better decisions. I think some of that grows, like all of us, as they have success. Their confidence grows with the success they have every day,ā Monken said.

Regarding the QBs...one thing to consider, maybe it's been posted already-
It might actually be easier for the Browns to start Watson, then turn to Sanders when that most-likely fails.
If the Browns drop their first 2 games in Florida, and DW isn't very good, maybe it's SS' turn. I can't imagine our fans being kind to DW if he sucks at the home opener, even if it's one incompletion or interception/sack.
Starting SS, and if he fails, turning to Watson, well then we've got an even bigger problem. Just my two cents.

1st Depth Chart - Bears game. I'm very happy for Denzel Boston. I was disappointed that we chose Concepcion at #21 and not Boston. But by some strange miracle, there was Boston still on the board for our 2nd round pick. And in hindsight, had we chosen Boston at 21 then for sure Concepcion wouldn't have been there for us in round 2 because a lot of people had Concepcion rated higher than Boston. Not me however. I thought Boston would already be gone before pick 21. It worked out better than I could've imagined. Boston came to us not as a 1st rounder. Without having to live up to the 1st round moniker. And yet, wanting to prove that he should've been a 1st round pick. And with the camp he's had to this point, he has done and is doing just that.
I'm envisioning the WR room like this: Jerry Judy, Denzel Boston, Kevin Concepcion, Isaiah Bond....and then one or two guys that are going to have to separate themselves from the pack. One might think that Cedric Tillman might have the inside track, but he just hasn't shown much in his two seasons with the team. So being a veteran might actually be to his detriment.

@orion yeah I think Tillman is still under his rookie deal, bigger body, so I think he's safe. Has some upside but injuries have slowed him.
The potential for a good offense is here again, as the skill guys bring excitement.

I just wish we had a legit starting QB.
I'm not even talking a top notch starting QB, just a veteran who can read defenses, get the offensive players on the same page, and run the offense in a competent way for this season, and some of next until the rookie we draft (I hope) is ready to start sometime in 2027.
The lack of that is tempering my enthusiasm.
