  • Woke up today with the power out, left and came back home a few minutes ago and stopped and talked to a neighbor, she had no power either. Told me it might be 6 or 7 hours until it comes back on.

A few minutes later, it's on!

So let the Browns 2026 season begin!

  • Time for kickoff.

I can tell that all of you are on pins and needles with optimism and enthusiasm!

A shoestring away from a TD.

  • Can't believe Fannin dropped that pass.

  • Watson struggles to work 1, 2 ,3 on early downs. Fires back with a big gain. Then Fannin drops a great read and throw on 3rd down.

I need something to hang my hat on here. Need a unit who is going to step up and sustain the offense when it's needed.

The Fannin drop will be the exception to the rule in regular season. He's normally very sure handed. And so far I like what I see from Boston and K.C. As long was Watson keeps finding them, bodes well.

Fannin doesn't concern me. THIS type of shit already does because I was seeing it in Training Camp.

A HUGE concern of mine I had mentioned during training camp is already showing up early in Game 1 of pre-season with the Browns QBs - processing speed.

  • Wasn't 95? LOL!

  • Just saw Bisontis for Cards with likely season ending MCL tear. Too bad. They really needed him.

EDIT: I was going to try to get Love as a RB on my FFL, but without that key OL, think I will pass on that.

  • So far pass defense looks very iffy. QB getting way too much time to throw. MG spoiled us. And just as I typed that we got to the QB.

  • Beat for a TD on a dagger concept (looks like dagger, it's CHI after all and Ben Johnson LOVES dagger) middle field safety looks like he was in a zone replace and just got beat on the route - BAD.

Beyond that, 2nd and 3rd level haven't been too bad.

If you know Johnson loves the dagger, then why don't the Browns defensive coaches know that and what do they do to defend against it?

  • I know it's preseason but Jesus this 3rd team D looks putrid!

Good question - I'm taking an educated guess because you never fully know until the all-22 is out. A middle-field replacement in cover 3 drives down on the dig route, the problem now because can your defense out-execute the offenses bread & butter? Especially in *most cover 3's where the hi safety has serious depth.

The popular defensive adjustment in the NFC North last year was to run inverted cover 2 or 3 'cheat'. To that high safety, which can look like cover 3 and muddles a QB's read on depth, is now the post safety in cover 2. This means his assignment drives him closer to the LoS and he can match the route easier. That said, even if you get your players in place, they still need to make the plays.

#41 is Chris Edmonds and will likely be cut after today. He was beat across his face and failed to executed.

A visual representation of some of the defensive designs I've mentioned, with pretty arrows and videos.

Zone replace rep from #ATL DEF

    - Both corners using 'vision'
    - LCB rides hash & matches vertical
    - RCB replaces Post safety off #1 breaking positive
    - Post safety cuts the Over.

Another #Browns tool in the bag off the hi pre-snap looks from Coach Schwartz.

    - Post snap drop into NTT = Non-Traditional Tampa (2)
    - Instead of the MRT coming from the 2nd level, the Pole Runner is the 1hi DB stepping down into the lane.

  • Welp, all the problems from training camp.

    • QB processing speed

    • IDL Depth

    • Pass rush 2nd string

All showed up in full force today.

  • #1 looked damn good today, I wonder if he will also be our full time punt returner

  • I am a bit irritated with Monken not calling time out at the end. Maybe he saw the game as over and a score would be meaningless but I doubt the players on the field felt that way. It's a friggen preseason game. Why not get in the work?

Poor coaching decision IMO. If the coach packs it in he has no business telling his players to give it their all.

  • #4 looked as about what you would expect from a guy who has not played a down for a very long time, he looked confused a few times but over all should receive a decent grade for todays game, the fumble he lost I believe we had some back ups playing on the line, but still no excuse (hold on to the damn ball) special teams ? night and day from last year, penalties we had the one false start with the ones and the tripping penalty ? from what i saw just looked like a normal collision, on D evens look ed like crap while coates is making a statement for a roster spot
