The Browns Board

Thought I'd stop by again Tom.. What a f**king bad decision. Sorry, but Sanders obviously outplayed Watson in the two preseason games.. So they bench him and start a guy who went 5-12 with an int and a qbr of 14? Are they out of their f**king minds?

The only explanation I have is the Tank-a-Thon is the Browns strategy this year. Suck for Arch 2027. ?

PS- I was thinking of hopping on a plane and stay at my friends son's place down Tampa way for the Browns game... But no way in hell I'm wasting money to see Watson play like crap.

Davon Booth is our leading rusher in preseason. Should he be the starting RB?

We had a camp battle between a past 1st round pick pro bowler against a second year 5th round pick that nobody on this board besides me wanted us to draft. And we're shocked that the 1st rounder won the battle??

Some want to say that it's a Haslam's mandate that Watson be named the starter. When in reality, about 9 months ago, Haslam called the Watson deal a Swing And A Miss. Now his Swing And A Miss QB is named the starter by a new and impartial HC. This doesn't seem like it's making Haslam look any smarter.

This thing has played out just about exactly as I've been saying it would all along. We start the season with the veteran 1st round pick, on the road for two weeks, away from the hostile home crowd. If he plays really well, he keeps the job. If he plays really horrid in FL then maybe Sanders starts the home opener. More likely, he'll not play great or awful and we'll have to wait a bit for him to get himself hurt...because he plays dumb and takes on tacklers when he runs. Then we'll see Sanders play. He will eventually get hurt because he will be playing dumb and taking on tacklers because his job depends on him winning games and keeping the team from drafting a QB in round 1 next year. Of which, IMO, will be our future...bundling picks to take a new QB in '27. But we'll see how many college QB's ruin their draft rankings and how many improve theirs by the end of November.

I'll respect your opposing POV Orion. BUT... And IF Watson plays true to form as he has in the three season he actually played in Cleveland? Then what? We've tossed two games in the toilet on a bad bet that he can somehow regain the form he showed in Houston. That was ancient history. Actually, I hope he somehow does regain his pro bowl form, But from what I've seen of him this preseason, looks more like Akilli Smith. Horrible bad.

If Haslam called him a swing and a miss- but now he's somehow better that Sanders? That would say Sanders must really suck. I'll go with the out of town talking heads on this one- that the consensus is the Browns have lost their collective minds starting a washed up Watson.

To you and me, but not to Monken. Monken will be coaching in his first ever NFL game as a HC against the Jaguars. Don't you think that he wants to win that game in the worst way? He's been working with these two QB's all off season...all through the mini camps...the playbook installs...through the TC practices, etc. He's putting in the QB that he feels gives him the best chance of winning his 1st ever NFL game as a HC.

which just reaffirms that there was no camp battle going on, it was all about #4

  • This team doesn't exist until they move to the new stadium. They want to peak in a few years. It's obvious.

    Sucks for us

  • It's easier to start Watson and then move on to Sanders than the other way around. Actually, I'm a bit surprised that so many are surprised by this.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Play the Rapist turd, when he sucks, put in the other guys. It's easy and no one will question it even the owner. They are playing for next years draft IMHO. When Watson shits the bed, it's finally over. yes we will take a hit. That's on the owner. But they can collectively cut his ass. Im so glad modern medicine allows us to live longer, maybe 1 day this shit show can succeed.

Modern medicine still has a long way to go for us to see the day the Browns succeed. πŸ™‚

I'm being totally serious when I say that I tell my grandson ALL THE TIME to become a medical research scientist. And I swear that he's smart enough to become one....even though right now he wants to be a pilot. And of course I tell him that that's a cool profession....and that what Papa wants most is for him to be a good person.

I agree with this, and we are going to suck. The only logic they could have used, is that it would be easier to pull Watson when he sucks and put Sanders in than vice versa.

If he shits to bed and we roll into the home opener at 0-2 I highly expect Sanders to be the starter.

I agree. There is only the first 2 games to prove it. The NFL did us a solid with the schedule.

I believe the offense will be night and day different from what we've become accustomed to.

We already know what this defense is like.
