    Joe Thomas:

“[Todd Monken’s] gonna make decisions on what he feels is best for the franchise to win today. When he has worked with these quarterbacks throughout the offseason, he’s looking at his offense. He wants a guy that can take the play at the line of scrimmage, see the defense, get to another play quickly. He feels like that is Deshaun Watson as of today. There’s context that’s involved in Todd Monken’s mind: what he’s seen throughout training camp, what he’s seen in the meeting rooms. In the preseason, there’s just not much of the playbook that you put out there,” Thomas said.

Joe's a football smart guy. And probably smart in general. He was at TC multiple times this year helping the OL. Monken wanted him to stay. But Joe doesn't want to commit to an every day gig...which is what coaching is. He's a family man. And he's got a nice little gig commentating. It's the team's loss that he's a family man. He's a 1st ballot HOF'er who never jumped ship. The #73 jersey with his name on the back only comes in 3 colors. Seal Brown, Orange or White.

  • When JJ McCarthy gets cut...we should pick him up, he will fit right in.

Ya know, I really don't think highly of The Bull.

Wasn't he heading back to NY a couple of years ago? To do something 'different'.

He left the Fan to join the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show

It was a few years ago, he was with Justin Fox, and he was to be leaving the show and he said something like, Yeah it's time. I'm heading back to NY and do something a little bit different.

I remember an interview with him during his playing days, it might have even been on the sidelines of a preseason game, but he was talking about how competitive the NFL is and how it's so hard to beat a team. He said, You can be sailing along in a game thinking that you're going to win and all of a sudden a couple of things happen and you need to get down the field fast and score the required points to get the win. He said, A team has to have a QB that can bring you down the field, kind of Carry the team to victory. He said, you can't run yourself down the field at the end of a game or the half. You need the good QB.

I remember thinking, There's no flies on Joe Thomas. He gets it. It doesn't matter how good your LT is, how good your running game is, if your QB can't bring the team down the field to score the required points, you're not going to be a consistent winner. - I wish he was working for the organization.

And Watson can't even bring bring a sack of potatoes up from the cellar... Let alone drive a team down to score... How fucking laughable...

Yeah, sadly Joe's words still hold true for us.

Watson's presser where he explained why he hates Cleveland fans has put the organization in a difficult position. The fan base that already disliked him is now infuriated. They're taking it out on the Haslams as signage on the Jim Brown statue indicates. If he trots on the field with the starting offense at our home opener you know the offense (by association) will be booed loudly. And that footage will be played on every media outlet able to broadcast at least sound.

    That scenario would be unprecedented.

So, what do you do? You can't have the fans decide who your starting player(s) have to be. Obviously, Sanders did not show that he's equal to or better than Watson or he'd have been named the starter. It's a tough spot to be in. You either hope that he plays lights out and the team romps in FL. Or you hope that he sucks royally such that he gets demoted after 2 games. Or lastly, you call that guy named Knuckles and you tell him that Watson cannot leave FL without a broken leg.

That is a thought. We will need somebody. I do know that if/when we draft a QB, Shedufus better not be on the team. If not him, his fans are a distraction. I am not sticking up for Watsons comments, but it was moronic to boo the guy when he 1st came out on the field in the 2nd half, as if his playing wasn't planned.

how about if we keep Gabrial and draft Dante Moore from Oregon

edit: LOL if you all thought Sanders fans were myopic wait till you get ahold of duck fan they are insufferable

  • Joe Milton released by Dallas. Would probably be an improvement over any of the four QBs on our roster. Do we take a swing?

I would've said yes, until this past April's draft when we drafted one of those QB's.

So, here we go into another season with major concerns at the QB position. The main question being, will we be drafting one at the top of next year's draft. Here's my take: Yes (short answer)

Why: Sanders couldn't beat out Watson for the starting job. Monken is well aware that Watson's odds of being on the team next year are quite low. And that he's hated by the fans. If Sanders were anywhere near close to Watson's perceived abilities, he'd be the starter. So I'm assuming that Sanders isn't even close. Which means that we want to improve upon him next April by trying to settle the QB position once and for all.

By this time next year he will be a distant memory.

    Can't happen fast enough.

I agree, but with a slightly different version of your take on QB1.

Watson starting is confirmation to me that we are tanking. The fan base hates him already, so the FO can blame the lost season on him, while getting the early picks they want. Maybe Sanders gets a few games towards the end of the season, when all is already lost (as intended). Thereby taking away any counter to drafting a QB and revamping the room.

I see Monken as having too much character to be party to that sort of thing. I'm going with Occom's Razor on this. Monken simply doesn't think Sanders is as good as Watson.

And if we wanted to tank, we were 2 games away from Fernando Mendoza last year. Everyone's Mom loves him. Instead we won our final 2 games and fell to 6th pick.

There is however, a certain couple of facts. Arch Manning will be in this draft. And Haslem wants to be associated with the Mannings in the worst way,

Is this informant the Limo driver? It would be quite sad if true. With Haslam at the winter meetings saying out loud that the Watson thing was a swing and a miss....I find it odd that now he wants to go up to the plate yet again, with the same bat.

It has to be Jimmy.. He went to his wedding for Christ sake!.. jimmy is a dumb asshole... And now Moken is a big asshole for going along with this shit... jimmy doesn't give a fuck and neither does Monken.... And we know Deshaun doesn't give a shit.... They all got their money... And like always.. The fans pay for it.. Why in hell did I think it would be different this year?

    Probably because of DePo's departure.

I'm going to hope that starting Watson was Monken's decision and that he didn't put any weight into Haslam's opinions.
