The browns finally did it. I suffered through 32 years of disasters since 1994 when I was 14 years years old - essentially the last year of the franchise that is now the Ravens. I managed to suffer all those years and maintain a fandom but I just cant be bothered to actually care anymore. I dont see where they're going and I don't even care. Maybe one day they'll get their shit together, but as for now I'm much happier just watching the national games because I do love football.

See my post- I've suffered much longer than you. My wife's family is from Toledo, so I'm now rooting for the Lions.

Her name isn't Laurie is it? A 10 grade girlfriend of that name moved to Toledo. Oh wait, she's in Dallas now twice divorced.

    Never mind.?

  • Mostly, Lawrence had the time he needed to find a receiver. That being the case, it would have to have been a shoot-out. We were ill equipped for that. I'm sure that there were LOTS of plays where we had 8 guys in the offensive huddle that had never played together before. Including the entire OL.

Penalties. We had just got solidly into their side of the field.....and then we steadily 'penalty marched' ourselves to a 1st and 30 situation. That's practically taking points off the board. (again, a whole new OL...with one starter unable to suit up due to injury)

We also made a coaching error when we failed to call a time out from the sidelines on a 3rd and 2 from near their goal line resulting in a delay of game.

This game outcome should not be a surprise to us. We knew that the D was going to take a step backwards because we weren't going to be able to pressure the QB so well. (that's huge in the NFL) We knew that three quarters of our starting offense have never played together before...and that four of those starters had never played in the NFL before (rookies). And we knew that our QB had years of rust to shake off and work through. (and in reality, Watson's stat line for the game was not bad. He was even our leading rusher)

It's one game. New coaches, new players, new playbooks. We'll now be wanting to see a little bit of improvement against Tampa Bay next week.

    • It was good to see Boston haul in that long ball in the end zone...and control it all the way to the ground and beyond. To Infinity, And Beyond!

  • I’m the same as a lot of you. Been a fan for 50+years. Had season tickets for 19 years. I DON’T CARE ANYMORE. I fully expect them to be the first team to go 0-17. And They will screw up the draft and the owner won’t care. He’s a billionaire LOSER.

That's just not true. The Haslams want the team to be successful in the worst way. They really do. You can dislike them if you want. Heck, I do. I don't like Jimmy. But I don't doubt at all that he wants his Browns to be winners. He wants the respect that comes from being the owner of a perennial winning franchise. And not the respect that comes from your business being raided for cheating customers. But since it's the latter that is his claim to fame he tries to make his team be successful. And he's just no good at that.

It is an inherent contradiction to want your team to be good with 2026 Watson as QB

Unless you have the QB room that we have. And the HC is telling you, As much as we may want Sanders to be the starter, he's just not as good as Watson. That's where we're at. And I don't want Haslam telling Monken who to play. We've got to let this season play out and then attack the QB position next April. (if it turns out that that's what's needed...and so far, in the early going, it looks like that's what's needed)

We may as well lose with Gabriel, Sanders and Greene. Then it becomes abundantly clear who to draft or trade. Unless you are certain that they are worthless as starters, you may as well play them. With Watson starting, the issue is in doubt.

That's the 'fan' view...from 5000 feet. But Monken is not trying to lose. He's trying to win. And he thinks that Watson gives him his best chance. Monken won't allow himself to think like that until he knows that he can't make the playoffs....which of course, is waiting way too long in the 5000' fan view. It's not easy being a HC. Your fired or not fired based on how many wins and losses you get. Not on setting up your franchise for a high draft pick which will benefit the team in the long run.

The Browns are NOT going to win with Watson now or in the future. Monken has 2-3 years. He better find out if he can win with the other 3 QBS in the room. Watson will not be here in 2027

No, the wife grew up in Toledo. Went to Miami (Ohio) and worked at the same hospital I did at the time. How we met. Somehow, we've managed to not get divorced after many years. Our 40th wedding anniversary is next month.

Anymore Orion, I'm not buying the corporate BS Monken- or anyone else in the Browns organization is spewing. Said it as soon as Watson was named the starter. It's tank-a-thon time. Obvious to this fan. Great- Watson had a garbage time TD to pad his stats. Call me not impressed. You've seen it on this board- that a bunch of us old timers just don't care anymore. And the young 'uns have never seen a Browns team that's been consistently good, so why should they care either? Haslam has pretty much lost what used to be the most loyal and dedicated fan base. You can only put up with shit football for so long.

If some of you still have your rose colored glasses on, I'll lay heavy odds when the NFL Power Rankings come out in a few days the Browns will solidly be the #32 team- and it won't be close. We're going to get laughed at- so get ready for it.

Well congratulations Larry. My wife and have our 57th coming up on Valentines Day.❣️

  • As I have said before here, the Clowns are the losingest team in the NFL over the last 20 years

I watched the Bengals game yesterday , only to check the Clowns to see how badly they were getting beat.

As someone else mentioned, we old timers that used to be loyal Browns fans are just plain sick of it..and I see another on here already saying wait till next year....

So pathetic and so real because this team stinks, again

You can blame Hasalem if you like..but I wonder every year how Andrew Berry keeps his job.

Because he is pathetic and he is the GM...Thank him for the aftermath of the worst deal in pro sports history and look at HIS legacy

  • May be an image of football and text that says 'Dru Down 2h If you weren't with us at 0-16, don't be with us when we 0-17.'

  • "THEY ARE WHO WE (I)THOUGHT THEY WERE".

Guys, I've been a Browns fan for 70 years of my life. I finally learned to not get emotionally involved in Browns wins or losses- the losses will be many this year. Can we have another 0-17 parade? Really glad I dumped my season tickets. That performance today can only be described as a CLOWN SHOW. Horrible in every way. I've seen enough great qb play after just one game to say Watson SUCKS. Unless by some miracle- I can say this guys is the most overpaid bum in the NFL. washed up more than a beached whale. Told the guys everyone should do a shot for every interception Watson threw. Didn't take long, did it? Didn't help that the defense played like crap either. Penalties galore. I actually dozed off the end of the 4th quarter. ?

I turned the game off, had to clean the grill

  • that didn't take long.

after being projected at #28 power rating,

    the Browns are 32nd.

worse than dismal. All that talent, new coaches, changes....

    same old qb crises.

I hear that. And I agree almost 100%. Again though, fan view from 5000'. And that's not how you coach. You have to play the best players at each position (for the job at hand). That's what the HC owes the players. Sure, when the game is hopelessly lost you can sub in some backups to get them some playing time to see how they do. And the same holds true for the season. Once the season is lost you can give more time to backups. It's a little different if you've just drafted one of the best QB's in the draft who is to become your long term franchise QB. You'll be wanting to get him on the field as soon as you can....without rushing him in there before he's ready. So, he may go in there before he's technically better than the current veteran starter. (Sanders was drafted in the 5th round)

So, at this point in the season (the very beginning) the argument is about Who is the better QB. Not who is the most popular with the fans. Not who might be here next year and who may not. We're one game out of first. The new HC, with no loyalty, no ties to either player, has determined that neither Sanders, Gabriel, or Green had shown to be better than Watson.
