Well, if we didn't know better we'd think this would be a pretty close game between somewhat evenly matched teams.

Here's the QB GrudgeMatch: (not shown is fumbles, of which Mayfield fumbled the ball away 3 times) Again, evenly matched by the numbers. Each QB will want to show that he is the better QB, though Mayfield probably takes that to a higher level. It's possible that a really bad game by Watson could make it easier for Monken to choose Sanders to start the home opener the following week.

    image.png

Most of us don't care what Mayfield does, but there are the 'Baker Bros' who will be privately hoping for Mayfield to throw for 4 TD's and 400 yards while Watson stinks it up. Then they can come out and Rant it up. Because somehow, that will make them feel better.

Anyhow, what we need to see in Tampa is some incremental improvement over last week.

The biggest difference is the Bucs-Bengals game was a competitive contest while the Browns had to wait until Jax emptied their bench to have any shot at scoring a TD. Forget the grudge match stuff (it's easy to crush a team that shows up ready and willing to excuse itself to 1 of our 2 bad QBs. Gee, why would our defense try to cause turnovers or pressure the passer while we're awaiting the time it takes for our Oline to gel? Anyway, one of these teams has a QB that has led his team to the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years. The other hasn't stopped looking for a keeper at QB since they got Kosar in the 85 Supplemental Draft. We've had some horrible owners and bad FOs. For example, the length of time Paul DePodesta was here intefering with what the GM was trying to do.

This time of year here in Florida - especially near the Gulf of MEXICO it's pretty freakin humid. Not sure why this team didn't stay in FL to prepare for the game & climate. The home team will obviously wear the white jerseys while the lack of time of possession drained defense will be in Brown (unless/do they still have orange jerseys as an altenative?).

I wish I had more to say & lucky for you all - I don't after the next 2 thoughts. Let's hope our running game improves as this OL gets more used to playing together. Let's hope for a better defensive game plan and some type of leadership from our expeienced guys on D by example and communication.

  • Here’s the TV map for the game.

As expected, there’s little national interest in a couple 0-1 teams with not great expectations.

Most of Ohio gets the game. The exceptions are those of us in the southwest, our Buckeyes in the southeast, and my forsaken homies in Van Wert. Suck it Dayton and Marietta, and Van Wert.

The greater Tampa area gets the game of course.

Oddly enough, there’s a sizable chunk of Oklahoma tuning in to this game. Like, MOST of Oklahoma, except for the udders and the phallic part.

I assume that means Oklahoma still loves Baker. Can you guys think of any other motivating factor why Oklahoma would tune in to that game?

I was in Oklahoma. The musical, not the state.

I played the sheriff character, Cord Elam. Zero solos were involved, which was great because l suck at singing, and most of my parts were in the first act.

It was my senior year of HS, the spring musical. My Senioritis levels were high.

Our director was a highly religious woman who always gave us a good half hour gap between the end of school and the start of rehearsal, so of course l was getting baked before rehearsals.

It was fun, and after it was all said and done, she gave me an award for my enthusiasm and support during the production.

I’ve never actually been to Oklahoma, but l feel like someone there owes me a beer for how well l represented them.

Oklahoma is actually a decent place to visit if you've got a camper like me. Lots of scenic & peaceful spots.

Regarding the game, I was pretty optimistic the Browns could win this before the season started.

The way the Browns D played vs Jax, wow, it was horrible. I'm hoping that was just an aberration. If that continues, well it's going to be another horrible season.

I feel like I'm rooting for an accounting firm, not a football team. Salary cap BS, we hate it.

    Go Browns

lol. I fully expected us to be in the brown jersey (or, like you said, orange). I mean, does the road team get to choose now? That would ding the whole Home Field Advantage thing...

After seeing game 1, how is any sane person going to argue with you guys? We were inept in every facet of offense and defense.

I'll say one thing though, that TD to Boston...60 yards in the air, right on the money. Ya gotta make an NFL QB feel safe back there.
