  • This buys Watson another start for sure. He played well enough today and the D helped him more than the 1st game.

  • I ripped this team up and down this week leading up to this game, hoping against hope that I would look like an idiot and they would pull out an improbable win. I didn't really think it was a possibility.

Hats off to the entire team. I can't believe I'm fucking writing this, but hats off to Watson for actually looking like a competent starting QB, even if for just a day.

Hats off to the defense for playing well after a horrible opener. Hats off to Monken for getting his first win.

And condolences to the people on here who so desperately were hoping for Baker and the Bucs to annihilate the Browns today and who were not able to come on here and be insufferable twats. Maybe he'll actually pull off beating the Browns four years from now when he plays them again. A third time's a charm, right?

He actually deserves to start next week. Nothing I think about him personally or long-term has changed, but on the field, he played well.

  • Wow, so I was in a bowling tournament in Cincinnati, so I didn't see the game ( recorded it as usual). Listened on the radio driving home, I was worried about the weather delay ( remember the 2016 World Series?).

Sounds like a good team win to me.

I had predicted a Browns win here before the season, but after last week, I didn't think it would happen. GLAD they won.

    Go Browns!!!

Well, I'm shocked, I say. Watson looked like a semi competent starting NFL QB. And the defense played very well. Watson bought himself another start, but he will never be loved in Browns fandom. Play like crap this coming Sunday expect a chorus of boos.

  • Damned Watson... can't even get tanking right! ??

If the O-line had given him decent protection, especially in the first half, this may even have been a comfortable win.

He also threw an absolute dime to Boston in the endzone in the third quarter that the defender made a great play to knock the ball out on a fade pass

  • I'm happy that we beat Tampa Bay. I'm happy that Baker didn't throw for 400 yards & 4TD's. This way we don't have to put up with the Baker Bro Talking Heads, or The Baker Bro Browns Fans, or the Watson Hater Browns Fans / Talking Heads. We don't have to listen to any of that bull-shit. We can instead enjoy a win and look towards the home opener with just the slightest bit of hope.

I'd like to see our OL improve / gel / whatever, so that Judkins can have a nice game and get some love. I swear that he's a good RB that just does not get the kind of OLine help that other RB's are getting.

  • Here’s the highlights.

Watson was downright terrific today. More please.

The TD by Boston was the stuff of legend. He bounced 3 would be defenders on the way to the end zone.

How about Denzel Ward? Too soon to talk HOF? No one even throws his way, and they got him sprinting off the edge on opposing field goal tries now? Hats off Denzel.

I only got to watch the highlights, but our center looked good. Elgton Jenkins, but it’s Mr. Jenkins to you.

Szmyt might be the first kicker l have confidence in after 1+ years on the team. I’ll admit l had a crush on Hopkins for a minute. The mighty Phil Dawson is the gold standard.

Bahr and Stover get big love. Lou Groza too, before my time.

    Peanuts are legumes

  • Watson played well today.. He had one great game against the Rats in the past.. But consistency will be key going forward.. Next week we play the Panthers here at home and they just absolutely drubbed the Falcons who are 0-2.. 34-3. Let's see if Mr. Rub n Tugs can do it twice... Because I think next weeks defense (Carolina) will be a little tougher and more disciplined..

  • Hickman & Delpit each had a sack. There's no Myles Garrett, so you've got to try and create sacks. Graham had a crap luck sack. 🙂

Here he is, going in the wrong direction....but he gets the sack 🙂

    image.png

    This was a delightful win.

We can't run. There's no holes. But the D played better. Which kept us in the game. And our QB position played better...actually bringing the offense down the field for the go ahead TD late in the 4th quarter. Go figure.

It was good to see improvement over last week. Some will say, Well THAT was a low bar! Which it was, but we had absolutely NO reason to think we'd do any better. So, it really is quite a nice step forward. Now, we need the OL to play better. Perhaps DeWand Jones at RT might help??

I'll slightly disagee with "we can't run" - only because there were a few good runs by Judkins mixed into the frustrating inconsistency otherwise. I like your idea of considering Dawand Jones at RT if struggles continue off-tackle/outside (never thought I'd say this til he showed up in shape this year). Having said that, my memory of how he did in the pre-season eludes me. ANOTHER thought is giving the better athlete (Barber) the RT job and remembering Tytus Howard started games at OG and OT for Houston so that could be a more suitable niche for the former 1st round pick as depicted in cut and paste.

Carolina gave up 59 points (per souce below) in their opener so I hope we see that version instead of the one that graciously accepted all Stefanski's gifts yesterday.

It's Cleveland so all I care about at this point is if Watson can give us more watchable football. We're not spoiled here; so if he can't - they'll still be auditioning the other QBs they brought here. Last I knew, Watson narrowed his search of finalists down to NOT including Cleveland. Jimmy didn't take no for an answer so here we are...

Just this weekend, I'm reading Jimmy only has eyes for Arch Manning in the next draft. Hoping like crazy here the criteria exceeds Jimmy has a nice on-going close friendship with Peyton Manning & that entire family... Peyton looks like the ONLY QB Jimmy ever got right; and yet UT still went 0 for Florida - and didn't win the National Championship until the year after Peyton left (with Tee Martin playing QB). Not that winning the Natty assures NFL success for a QB; but it sure did sweeten the attaction of Kosar up and over just the local hometown hero thing. I adored him and Sipe...

  • selecting a number 1 pic this long before the draft is stupid

Everyone seems to forget about Anhdrew Berry : THE GM 1 ?

    it'a only one game....

the Browns have a lot to prove and a very long season ahead

It’s browns fans. It can not be helped.

With some time, the fans will realize we have a genius GM, and they will also realize why they are fans, and not working in the front office.

This team is loaded with talent, and is also the second youngest team in NFL next to Miami. (25.5 years avg vs 25)

There is no way a first rounder will be wasted on a QB in next years draft. We are lucky to have Sanders as a back up QB.

It’s time to stop obsessing over QBs in next years draft. Those days are over.

  • In honor of Boston’s TD.

You failed miserably to remember who the owner is and how he always obsesses over QB's. Arch is coming ready or not.
