I was giving a little credit to our defense after playing semi-professional ball last monday.

I posted this elsewhere, but if we keep up that scoring pace, it will be the lowest in modern football history. It works out to 139 for the year. The record for fewest points in a 16 game season is 143, held by the Indianapolis Colts. Hey, if were going to stink, might as well set a few all-time records on the way. 🙂

Amazing stat. I mean we are going to break all time lows that go back to before passing was introduced into the game of football.

It's modern football history 16 game season. 🙂 I'm too lazy to look up the exact year, and numbers- but the Cincinnati Reds yes, there was an NFL team by that name- set the all time record back in the 1930's. And that's how many points they scored- like 35 or so, that's for the season, not a game.

NO way they score 30 on us, we will lose 17-0

  • 17-3.

i like the games where we take the opening possesion and march down the field..... for a FG.

so we think, "eh, okay...we might do allright."

and then we do NOTHING offensively the rest of the game.

  • but seriously...

i don't know how....but i do think (i'd like to think?) we can beat Det.

  • Lions 34 Browns 10

  • Regardless of who wins the game, each team is going to come out of it saying "ehhhh we just beat the Browns/Lions, who cares"

    "

  • true.

    and

"we just saved a bunch of money by not having the #1 draft pick"

  • no joke, my defense this week is playing new england this week in fantasy and i picked up the lions. it hurts me to do it but come on, you all know it was a good move.

  • I like this game for many reasons. We are testing ourselves versus a weak but promising team. Some things i will be looking out for.

    * Can Quinn move the chain forward now that our OL will buy him some time to throw the ball ?

    * Can the receivers and/or TE's get separation and catch the ball ?

    * Can any of our RB's not named JL get a 100 yard game ?

    * Are we going to see successful throws that are beyond 10 yards (not even 20) ?

    * Can we score a meaningful touchdown ?

These 7 questions will truly tell us the state of our offense. Did I miss any points ?

OUCH! Can't say I blame you though considering the Browns ability to score this year.

By looking at the stats and playmakers on both teams it seems Detroit has a slight edge but if the Browns D shows up and we don't have any pick - 6's (both big ifs!) against us I can see this ugly game ending in a 0-0 tie.

didn't harrison have our last 100+ game? we need to be done with JL.

i've had detroits D as one of two D's for a while. They actually A- don't have HUGE blowouts all the time, and B- manage about 2-3 turnovers a game.

they aren't a terrible play. I also am starting them in one of my leagues (over Colts..playing Ravens).

also, my league figures return yards into team D (i dunno why), which makes Detroit a huge play. they get kicked-off to a lot.

I've seen more of these games than I care to remember. The offense goes into hibernation until we are down 21-3. I wonder how many times this has happened in the past 3 years?

  • In all honesty, I cannot predict how this game will turn out. They've had a decently tough schedule themselves, outside of Seattle, Washington, and St. Louis. It's not as tough as ours was, but it's not a cupcake-athon, either. They have offensive playmakers, we do not. I think we can have a better defense performance though, if they play like they did last week. The only bright side I see is that this game SHOULD give Quinn a chance to actually drop back without being instantly pressured for once in his career. Hopefully that will give him some confidence.

  • even the Lions are gonna stack the box against us.......

  • Honestly, I'd rather watch a replay of one of those 1950's championship games between the Browns and Lions. You know, Otto Graham? Bobby Layne? Paul Brown? Dante Lavelli?

Hard to believe these 2 teams played for all the marbles 4 times in the 1950's. 😒

  • I'm actually excited about watching this game. I'm picking Detroit 24-10. But I still think it's a more interesting game than some this week.

    Kickoff in a few!
