no, I am a steeler's fan from way back and back them every year. Are you proud you beat the defending Super Bowl champs without ever having become a defending super bowl champ?

how many years do you need to become defending super bowl champs? 100? 200? 300?

Notice to all bandwagon Steeler fans, this just in: The NFL just didn't start having championship games in 1974! They've had them every year since 1933!

Oh what's that you say? Those 40 something years before the Steelers finally won one don't count? What have you done lately? Oh that's right, you lost to a bunch of practice team players and waiver wire pick ups.

  • Defending Super Bowl Champions.

Those four words are not in any person's vernacular describing the Clevelend Browns.

This is not an insult just a fact I wanted to present for the Christmas holidays.

    Cheers!

Actually, on 7 different occasions the Browns were Defending Champions. We could go back and call every title game in history a "Super Bowl". The Super Bowl part of it don't mean dick. That is just a marketing name, like Defending K-Mart Blue Light Special champs, or the Insight.com Bowl champs.

In fact, I am surprised that the NFL hasn't sold the naming rights of the Super Bowl or the AFC and NFC Championship games. Rest assured, someday it will come. Then perhaps a comment can be made that "one thing you can't say about the Steelers is that they have never been the Jack Links Beef Jerky Bowl Champions.

  • You know, I thought that stomping the steelers asses and making them cry like little bitches last week would really cut down the amount of Stooler troll fans on this board, but for some reason it has made more appear. Don't feed the trolls people.

I suspect that the Browns will be a Defending Jack Links Beef Jerky NFL Title Bowl Champion before the next time the Steelers will be able to claim to be the defending RotoRooter NFL Title Bowl Champions.

  • @jully said:

well give me a year when the Browns go to or win a super bowl. when?

Give us the next year the Steelers will next go to a SB or win it?

  • @jully said:

What you should have said is the Steelers average an NFL Championship once every 12.83 years and the Browns average one every 7.5 years.

  • @jully said:

notice: The game has evolved into a highly competitive league since the merger and the name that owns the most is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

When the going gets tough the Browns sit on the sofa and watch all of the other teams in January / February.

If you don't think the league wasn't highly competitive in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, how about we let you try to tackle Bronko Nagurski. He was a 6'2" 230 pound running back. Or Marion Motley, he was 6'1, 240 pounds. Those guys were the same size, or bigger than the likes of Franco Harris.

How about we let you play blocking dummy for Chuck Bednarik. He was a 6'3, 235 pound middle linebacker. Ray Lewis is only a 6'1" 240 pound MLB. Bednarik could knock someone's head off better than Lewis could...ask Frank Gifford.

Or how would you like to stand in at QB when 6'4" 250 lb. Len Ford was coming after you. That is the same height and weight as today's rushing ends. Kameron Wimbley is only 6'3" 255.

(the difference is sizes is ONLY with the OL , and interior DL from the 40s to now. Only the guys that could put on fat. The "skill" players now, QB, RB, WR, DBs, speed rushers, even middle LBs are the same size as then.

  • @jully said:

Pittsburgh averages a Super Bowl every 7.16 years.. so you know..soon!

And the Browns at the point their dynasty was going high averaged a Super Bowl once every two years.

I suspect that the Steelers will not see another Super Bowl for 50 years.

  • [Pittsburgh averages a Super Bowl every 7.16 years.. so you know..soon!

    [/quot

What you should have said is the Steelers average an NFL Championship once every 12.83 years and the Browns average one every 7.5 years.

I don't think a Steeler fan like that could actually do math that sophisticated. You probably have to spell it out for them:

The Steelers have been in existance since 1933, and have 6 titles. 77 years of existance divided by 6 equals the 12.83.

The Browns have been in existance since 1946 and have 8 titles. Take out the 3 years of inactivity, and that is 8 titles in 61years or 7.625.

Now, if you actually go back to the origin of the NFL in 1920, and you take the 13 Championships the Cleveland area has in those now 90 years, you get on title every 6.92 years, the best ratio in the nation. (and actually, it is probably better than that since we could take out the 3 years in the 90s where there was no team, plus several years in the mid 30s when Cleveland didn't have a team)

While it is true that this area has been giving all the other cities in the country plenty of opportunities to close that ratio gap, no one else has quite done it. Only Green Bay which has a title once every 7.41 years comes close. Dallas could come a little close. They have had 6 titles in 50 years, or one every 8.33 years.

  • actually 4 of the championships were won in the AAFC, while the other 4 were won after the browns joined the NFL. As you may not know, the Championship game wasn't renamed to the Superbowl for some time after the browns joined the NFL. So technically the browns have 4 superbowl wins, but due to venacular, they are championship games instead of superbowls. the only difference is naming conventions.

  • I would be grasping at straws if I were you too! Merry Christmas, enjoy the down slide of your team

  • @jully said:

AAFC was a league of seven teams of which three were only good enough to merge into the NFL. you have to be kidding that the NFL would recognize a 7 team league and compare the champ to today's super bowl winners.

YOU have to be kidding that you are this ignorant about history. The NFL was only a 10 league team then. And the AAFC was 8 teams. So they were essentially the same size. If we don't recognize the AAFC champs, then we can't recognize the NFL champs either.

And again, you sound like a perfect candidate for a dose of Zyklon B. Oh, but you probably don't believe that ever really existed, do you?

That's the best you got? This just in, the defending Super Bowl Champions just lost to a 1-11 team with 3rd stringers in. LOL!!!

  • just the other day you were bitching about how you have always been a stand up guy on this board. guess it only took a day or 2 to prove yourself wrong.

  • How many honest championships do the Steelfags have? That's right, none. Zero. Zilch.

They have never won a championship without cheating or the aid of the officials.

Get back with us when you win an honest championship.

  • @jully said:

43 super bowls divided by 6 steeler super bowl wins = steeler win every 7.16 years on average.

43 super bowls and the browns have zero wins. the browns win a super bowl every NEVER years.

math is math. please get with the program.

Well, do you know Benjamin Disraeli? ( I know you don't, you are a Steeler fan) He said, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

The lie is that your self delusion that the Super Bowl is what you think it is

There haven't been 43 Super Bowls. There have only been about 38 that were actually pre-described as Super Bowls. Before that, it was Simply the NFL title game.

but, you are probably too dumb and stupid to know that history.

The damn lie is that you think that only those titles that were competed for after 1966 have any meaning.

Shall we begin history only in year 1966? How would you like that. You think that is when the Big Bang occurred?

If so, your sorry dumb ass wouldn't exist.

Perhaps you simply meant to say that since 1966, the Steelers have won a title only every 7.16 years.

Then what are you gonna do with Pittsburgh Steeler history prior to that point?

Are you gonna tear down Art Rooney's statue? Apparently his contributions to your team mean nothing.

Are you going to disrespect the memories of Hall of Fame Steelers like John Henry Johnson, Ernie Stautner, Bill Dudley, Walt Keisling? I guess their efforts no longer count...erase them from the team records. (We'll leave it up to YOU to tell their families)

That is what you are asking. Is that what you want?

The Steelfags only have two championships in the Current NFL. 2 of their championships were won when there were fewer teams.

And they had to win them by cheating.
