McNabb to Cleveland?

  • How about this:

If the Eagles truly want to transition Kolb into the starting role, we offer Rogers for McNabb. Their questionable defense gets instantly upgraded, and we get a QB who can complete a pass. I figure Rogers has to be worth a 1st round pick, and McNabb is easily worth that, so probably some sort of deal could be worked out, even if it took an extra pick or two. Rubin has proven that Rogers isn't an ideal 3-4 NT based on his (Rubin's) excellent run stopping ability, so IMO Rogers could be expendable...though I'm very excited to see him dominating off the end of the line.

We draft backfield in the first round and Colt McCoy in the 2nd and let him sit for 2-3 years behind McNabb.

I've come to the conclusion that will be deafting a QB no matter what, so this seems like a pretty good idea to me as opposed to paying Clausen or Bradford #7 overall QB cash (though I like both guys a lot). McCoy seems like an Aaron Rodgers kind of guy, where a couple years on the bench will do wonders for him.

    Thoughts?

  • i am against drafting a QB,especially in the early rounds.

    a stop-gap wouldn't hurt. I like all 3 qb's mentioned.

I'd be hesistant to trade Rogers, but it does seem like equal value, perhaps.

(i think Rogers would dominate in a 4-3)

  • Dan LeFevour would be your best bet. He is a proven winner and won't come with a huge price tag like Bradford. you could pick him up in the 3rd round.

I am not sold on Bradford, McCoy or Tebow at the next level. LeFevour has the "it" factor - he just wins.

LeFevour led CMU to a bowl victory in the 2006 Motor City Bowl. He was named the bowl game's MVP, winning as a redshirt freshman. Dan was one of 35 players named to the Manning Award Watch List in August 2007.[2] He was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks in October 2007,[3] and again in the second week of November.[4] Lefevour also garnered USA Today's Player of the Week for the week of October 16, 2007.[5] On December 1, 2007 LeFevour became the second player in Division I FBS history to pass for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season (Vince Young was the first). On September 12, 2009 at Michigan State, LeFevour passed Byron Leftwich to take over as the MAC all-time leader in total offense in a career. He currently holds Mid American Conference records for career completions, attempts, passing yards, passing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and total offensive yards. LeFevour is the only player in NCAA history with over 12,000 passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards and currently sits 2nd all time in total offensive yards. He also holds the FBS record for total touchdowns with 150.

FYI Bradford, McCoy and Tebow all "just win" as well...

  • I hear that if Favre retires, McNabb is a possiblity to be traded to the Vikings to replace him. They run essentially the same offensive system in Minn. as in Philly.

At best I would take Tebow in the 4th round if he is there. Not before.

  • yes but you will pay more for them and have to draft earlier to get them. LeFevour is the best choice that won't cause you to have to overpay.

Tebow is not an NFL QB - he's a passing fullback

    Bradford is injury prone

McCoy is great but he will demand huge money

  • I guess somethings come full circle....he couldve been our QB back in 99'

Yep - like Ben could have been your QB in 2004 - dumb da da dumb

Ben would not be nearly as good as he is now if he were drafted by Cleveland so that really does not make any sense. He was protected by a dominant run game and a dominant defense in his early years while he developed his skills. He would not have had that opportunity in Cleveland. We need a qb that created for himself when receivers are not open and one that can complete a pass downfield to a receiver who is open.

You pissburgh fans are still sore with the Browns cause they killed your playoff hopes this year? Get over it.

Well he won't get it based on his draft spot.

  • As much as LeFevour is getting talked up, I think he wont make it to the 3rd round. His stock is growing. The only issue with him would be his prostyle offense he didnt run in college. It will take about a year or so to get his 7 step drop down with the speed of the NFL. He will be good, but it will take a bit of time. Kolb most likely wont go anywhere. Mcnabb still has a little bit left. he didnt have Westbrook to dump off those little screen passes that he always takes to the house. He still did well, he broke some ribs and still came back from that. All in all his running game killed him this year. Id give a 4th rounder and one of our TE's for him, not " Moore". I cant wait to find out though who its going to be. Its like the nfl is year round for us crazy fans. God Bless you crazy bastards.

  • i'd like to do Corey Williams and St. Clair for 'ol Donovan...a starting 4-3 beast still in his prime and a starting tackle...good value for both parties, see if they bite. if not deal Rogers straight up.

as far as depth DL is about the only place we can spare someone of value. it would hurt losing that rotation and flexibility but we'd survive the loss...and definitely be better for it.

but a 4th rounder and a TE? seriously?!? you trying to get Heckert's replacement fired already?

that's a bit of a stretch. i'm sorry, but if philly would straight up take the deal i'd dance in the streets and repent my sins. St clair sucks, corey williams had a good end of the season but the past two years overall has been awful. We can hope though haha

  • Browns in market for quarterback?

Share Print It My T&R One thing became clear after listening to the Browns' new decision-makers this week: They want to do something about the team's quarterback situation. So it's very possible that the Browns will enter the 2010 season with their eighth starting quarterback in 12 years and seventh in the last eight years. When it comes to finding the next Browns' quarterback, you have to start with Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert. That leads you to three primary candidates -- Matt Hasselbeck of Seattle, and Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb of Philadelphia.

I'm from Philly, and trust me, we don't want Mcnabb. He's not accurate and doesn't use his legs anymore. He has 1 talent, and that's the long ball.

  • see what i'm saying. our perception in CLE is way different. they'd probably think they were robbing us with those offers.

he'd bring stability and a vet presence. he's my 1st choice as a mentor right now.

You just described DA. I would rather have Mcnabb than Anderson. Ideally, I like the idea of Kolb.

Corey Williams and Sean Rogers are better fits for the 4-3. either one would be a huge addition to the Eagle's D.

and i agree, St Clair does suck--tremendously, which was why i threw him in the mix. RT is one of our hugest needs and St. Clair is in no way the solution. i hope he never plays another down as a Brown.

but...as far as value on paper, he can play both L & R tackle and has a whole bunch of starts. adding him into the mix with Corey Williams more than sweetens the pie imo.
