Death Panel Demands "Obesity" Info in Health Records

Interesting points. Gotta say I've never looked at it that way before. I mean, I forget that a bunch of the chemicals we use we get from common things. It's a really interesting problem, I kinda wanna learn more about it.

MY EXCUSE FOR BEING CRAZY is this immobilization brace. the 26th i get rid of it...
i
think.
whay;s yer excuse for being crazy heck?
the giant corp farmers have giant expenses, and everything to lose. they cut costs and losses in giant mass prodution
all sorts of waysm and end up using unhealthy artificial fertilizers, dagerous toxic insecticides and
disease3 prevention sprays, and monsanto genetically mdifird seed
9growth)
and all the time, they are destroying their soil, so they add even more bad stuff later.
the giant food co.s aregreedy too - and the watered down, fillered, cooked/processed and super cheaf additives, like heck mentioned with
corn syrup, are without legit food value that occuurs in prododuce naturally.
like vitamines, enzymes and the cancer fighting lycopene in tomatoes,
tomorrow i'm going to start making my own vegetable and fruit juice wiyh mt juicer
for the healing heaqlth benefits.
hunting and pecking sucks. dammit.
the upside is,b i avoided taking a pain pill today.

This is the only thing Cal and I agree on. Cal's farm is awesome.
-
this year i went with an all natural fertilizer - seaweed annd fish emulsion concentrate, and an all natural biomatrix
wiyh amino acids... etc.
our soil is composted more every fall,
but we still use roundup on the soybean fields - it's the only way.
but we have 940 all natural tomato plants -
we keep selling out.
natural is good.

Well, I suppose that's true, Vapor. But we know what happens when we subsidize, say, corn. Lots of it gets turned into stuff like high-fructose corn syrup, because they have to do something with the surplus. And since it's subsidized, it's cheaper than sugar. So it's in everything, including all the sodas we're talking about.
So while corn isn't bad for you, it is when they process it into a sugar substitute because we've created financial incentives for them to do that, and for food companies to use it in their products because it's cheaper. Go to Whole Foods and you'll find the best produce around, and the best products. You'll also find them incredibly expensive when compared to the prices at the regular supermarket. Subsidies aren't the only reason for this, but they're a big part of it.
We could subsidize carrots and tomatoes and broccoli, but we don't. We subsidize unhealthy crops, which, in turn, subsidizes the creation of unhealthy foods. $25 billion a year for the big five - rice, wheat (carbs), soy (fats), and corn (sugar). (Cotton is the other, but you don't eat that, obviously.)
Why are poor people the most likely to be obese in this country? Because shitty food is a lot cheaper than good food. And a big part of the reason why is because of our horrific farm policy.
So how do you stop Coke and Pepsi? Well, I have no desire to stop Coke and Pepsi. But there's no reason to subsidize Coke and Pepsi to be cheaper than it should be, and less healthy. I'd rather subsidize fruit growers, or better yet, nothing at all. (You can pour lots of corn syrup into fruit juice too, and most of them do. This is why singling out soda is sort of unfair.)
As crazy as Cal is, we'd be a whole lot better if we subsidized what he grows, and how he takes care of his land, than what we do now.

I agree with you on this.

But here you go back to your progressive thinking of wanting to control everything that a person does with their own land and business.
What a shame.
-
No T, that's not how I read it. What he's saying is that the gov subsidies are what allows and even promotes them to violate their land. I pretty sure he's on our side in gov getting out of the farming business.
-
Yes, T, I would rather subsidize healthy foods, and better farming practices. That's called making a policy decision. It's not about wanting to control everything a person does with their land. You're just a nut who thinks anytime the government tries to achieve a public goal it's something we should fear.
Funny that you don't see the current policy of the government telling agribusiness to grow more soy, wheat, cotton, rice, and corn than they normally would as "progressives" telling them what they can and can't do with their land. But removing those subsidies, or switching them to subsidize better farming practices, and to make healthier foods more affordable, is some scary progressive nightmare.
It's not. It's called good public policy.

horse shit works really well, too. If I had a farm, I would barter with gorse stable to take their shit away for free. they get rid of their horse shit, i get fertilizer. of course you want to give it a year to break down before applying it.
-
the seaweed and fish emulsion... and biomatrix concentratesare working incredibly well.
i get ours from an Amish farb supplies stpore way out in the country called Yoders here in ohio.
you will prbably have to order it from places like E&R in indiana, or catalogs like 'totally tomatoes'.
under 20 bucks a gallon - 2-4 oz per gallon of spray.
our close freinds down the road have horses, my family does too.
compost is unbelievable in getting outstanding growth in gardens.
btw, our first farbers market, wesold out ofa lot of produce early.
the super selling items were tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and all natural wild blackberries.
There's more produce vendors this year, we are the only one with cherry tomatoes. Kids and adults rave
over them. We grow three different types - a sunsugar gold, a chocolate cherry, and a super sweet
I forget it's name.
They put any other cherry tomatoes on earth to shame, I think.
Really outstanding for snacks. It's fun to hand out samples of them - it gets huge sales...
ggg
a lot of buyers remember us from last year, when we didn't have many cherry tomatoes at all.

Yoders is south of massillon, off rt 30, way out in the country.

They're Amish... no phone...GGG
but if you ever make it there, they are great folks, and they really know their stuff.
