Unless Rob Ryan brings the kitchen sink on every down, which is a dangerous proposition, right now the Browns pass rush seems to be awfully weak. I believe that a pass rusher will be a priority for them next year. (Thanks Kam Wimbley....for nothing). Here are some potential top prospects for the pass rush role in the 2011 draft. Yes, premature to talk draft when this season hasn't started, but it was always going to take a couple or 3 years for Holmgren to build this team. Let's look at some possible future defensive players:

    Adrian Clayborn, Iowa

    Cameron Heyward, Ohio State

    Bruce Carter, North Carolina

    Allen Bailey, Miami Fla.

    Von Miller, Texas A&M

    Greg Romeus, Pitt

    Pernell McPhee (Nanny?) Mississippi St.

    Mark Herzlich, Boston College

    Robert Quinn, N. Carolina

    Marcell Dareus, Alabama

    Jurrell Casey, USC (tackle)

    Jeremy Beal, Oklahoma

Do any of these float your boat?

All I know is it will have to be somebody who is available in the mid-first because we are winning at least 7 this year!

Yeah being an OSU fan i think Cameron Heyward is a stud, i also like the DT/DE from Alabama Marcell Dareus who had the TD in the BCS championship game last year hes gonna be a beast better than Terrance Cody i believe, i like Robert Quinn from UNC as well...What i was thinking about as well is the two best Corner prospects that have come out in a long while are gonna be in next years draft Patrick Peterson from LSU and Prince Amukamara from Nebraska which makes me only hope all the more that Haden does become that legit shutdown corner....But good thing for us is that next year is one of the deepest years for WR's in a long time something we desperatly need

I've seen Heyward play quite a few times, he would seem to be a great fit for our team. We could be going QB on that first pick if the team isn't satisfied with Colt's potential

I totaly agree we need to find some rushers on dline and also a playmaker lb. The thing is we are real close to having a real good d. We need two lbs and a dominant de and were there. That's 3 players..

I'm stoke we play detriot this weekend. I hopee we have a solid showing in our dress rehearsal

Im still hoping we can pull a rabbit out of the hat instead of throwing the whole hat at the opposition this year as far as a pass rush is concerned..a second late and a sack short sucks especially CB blitzes particularly when it leaves abram " delayed reaction" elam or mike "i think im lost" adams or brandon 'where am i" mcdonald in man coverage with even a slug with bad hands, it quickly becomes a potentially dangerous situation with a minimal of an almost assured catch...

We have a serious nickel and secondary quality depth problem in general along with a problem disguising coverages/blitzes as the rams revealed.. lets hope its just preseason vanilla because if its not we could opportunistically get burned at just the right time all year...

We have been rebuilding since 1964, Why stop now? GO BROWNS!

From what Ive seen our secondary imo is as deep as its been in years. Wright, Brown, Haden, McDonald, Adams, Ward, Ventrone, Abrams have all looked good to me so far. I think when the entire Dline is starting that our LBs will provide a better pass rush than we see now. Still a weak point for us though along with WR. I dont understand why we didnt look harder at some free agent or draftable WR's. Carlton Mitchel has shown me nothing yet. I thought BR should have layed out for that TD pass the other night too. So far Stucky has looked better than anyone and thats a problem.

Yes we will need to find playmakers next year but our pass rush will be fine this year. Improved secondary play will help in that department. Don't forget we had 40 sacks last year and are only improved in all defensive positions.

While 40 sacks is nothin to sneeze at, the Browns still finished near the bottom of total team defense last year in terms of passing and rushing yards relinquished. i think age is an important consideration when

evaluating our line. A great majority of our d line is at or above 30 years old....In no way are they washed up but you got to consider a push on gettting some young talent up and running. As is, i don't think

we have a legit playmaker on our d line. I hope i am proven wrong in a big way

                          Wow, you can't be serious.

While there have been some Buckeyes who didn't live up to expectations (Archie Griffin, Art Schlichter, for instance), many Buckeyes have represented well in the NFL.

I'm not concerned with 2011's draft at this time, just surprised to see a comment like that.

When Rogers comes back, hopefully at DE (my opinion), our pass rush will be blessed with IMMEDIATE improvement. One guy, & usually 2, CANNOT block him. That frees up a lot of options & opportunities to get in the opposition's backfield.

Really? If OSU players suck in the NFL then why is OSU like 3rd on the list of most graduates that have made the Pro Football Hall of Fame with maybe a couple of others on the way, like Chris Carter for sure, Orlando Pace. It might also behoove you to look at the Pro Bowl rosters and see where those guys went to school.

imho, you shouldn't get too high or too low about what you see during preseason games. i don't think the browns d is going to look like this when the games count. it would be best to wait until the games matter and see how the d is then. i seriously doubt rr is going to show much before the season opener.
