Why not hire Jim Tressell as Browns coach
-
I think your problem is with the NCAA, not Tressell.
No, not particularly..... as coach, he STILL has the power to do the right thing, and chose not to, in spite of what the NCAA did.

All said and done, it was a pretty minor and harmless infraction. They got 5 games for it, I don't see why adding a sixth would be the "right thing" to do. These KIDS didn't kill someone, they sold their own stuff. People really need to get over themselves.

ya i guess selling your own big ten champion ship ring and other collectibles to help pay for your moms mortage is so very classless man these guys have no class wat so ever
get real dude stfu
They got tattoos.... If it was for them to help mom pay mortgage then they should not have gotten tattoos, instead giving it all to their mom.

Idk if they used the money to pay their mom's mortgage but they got in trouble because they sold possessions that they owned. Not because they got tattoos.
I think that rule is stupid anyway. I know the players get a full ride through college, which is more than adequate pay for their services to the school, but if they sell something that they now own what is the big deal? How is that any different then a non-athletic student from selling say a laptop or a stereo?
-
Yeah he is an average coach....who won five National Championships and more BCS games than any other coach and played in more BCS games than any other coach...
you judge of talent is about as good as your judge of fans....stick your head back up urass
He won 1 National Championship. He coached freaking Youngstown State, that's not even a FBS school so it doesn't count. The Big Ten is weak, he beats up on teams like Marshall then gets rocked by Wisconsin. And the same reason I don't want Cowher=Once a Steeler, always a Steeler....Tressel=Once a Suckeye, Always A Suckeye. I'm embarrassed he went to UA.
Why not hire Mike Haywood to coach the Steelers?

FYI YSU is a FBS team. As far as Tressel goes his realm is college football. If he wanted to coach pro he would have been somewhere by now. I think it's best to seek a coach elsewhere. I agree that OSU plays too soft a schedule and I'm a fan. I think the Big Ten by in large plays too weak a schedule that's where your BCS (Bowl Championship Slaughterings) come from. The draw back for the Big 10 would be...it would take a few years of getting knocked around by SEC and Pac 10 teams before they compete again. Don't get me wrong I'm a Buckeye fan but they're not doing these kids any favors by playing cupcakes plus if they pick up some harder games and actually compete some of the faster talents that flood the SEC might reconsider thus evening the playing field.

No, the problem is Tressell. Despite the NCAA not suspending the 5 players for the Sugar Bowl, the right thing to do would have been to bench the 5 players.

OSU is now 6-3 in BCS Bowl Games with one National Championship. That is the most wins of any team and also the most appearances. The three losses were consecutive from 2007 to 2009, and consisted of playing twice for the National Championship and losing to Colt McCoy on a last second TD drive. Jimmy T ain't going anywhere, and he is not an NFL style coach.

the most appearances
The reason OSU has the most BCS appearances is because they play in a cupcake conference and don't even have to play in a conference championship.
Let's take a gander at the Not so Big Ten.
Illinois - Easy win 75% of the time.
Indiana - Free win.
Iowa - Occasionally tough opponent.
Michigan - Has been a total pushover the last 3 years. Free win.
Michigan State- MSU looked good against the Big 10 teams. Until they played a real team. Alabama 49, Michigan State 7.
Minnesota - Free win.
Northwestern - Free win. You should be embarrassed if you lose this one.
Penn State - Usually a somewhat tough game.
Purdue - Free win.
Wisconsin - They lost to TCU. Enough said.
NOW, lets take a little look at OSU's 2010 schedule.
Marshall - Free win.
Miami (FL) - OSU got beat by one of the worst Miami teams in years.
Ohio - Free win.
Eastern Michigan - Free win.
Illinois- Easy win 75% of the time.
Indiana - Free win.
Wisconsin - OSU gets dominated by a Wisconsin team that then goes on to lose to TCU. Wisconsin loses all credibility.
Purdue - Free win.
Minnesota - Free win.
Penn State - OSU cruised to victory, and then Penn State lost to a Florida team that is the worst of this decade. Penn State loses all credibility.
Iowa - OSU barely squeaks out a win. Iowa starts strong and falls late.
Michigan - Don't get me started. Michigan looked like a high school team this year.

there's literally no way on God's green precious Earth you can make a logical claim that the Big ten is easier than the Big East or the ACC (not saying you did, just throwing it up there). I do agree with you to an extent. The Big ten has been down for about 5-6 years, while the SEC and Pac-10 have been on the rise. I have my strong reservations about the Pac-10 this year, but I guess the national title game might shut me up.
Here's the thing that literally frustrates me to no end. I don't understand why year in and year out for the past 4-5 years they constantly put the Big Ten against the SEC. I understand the BCS bowls obviously, but I guarantee if the lower tear teams play the ACC or Big East, people are singing a different tune. The fact of the matter is the SEC is just days ahead of the other conferences, but that will change in time.

No it won't. OSU or any other sorry ass Not so Big Ten team can schedule a game against the Florida Gators, Alabama Tide, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, and the South Carolina Gamecocks and the SEC teams will put on a clinic. Believe me. Michigan learned. Michigan State learned. Penn State learned. Hell, Wisconsin got beat by TCU.
Big Ten football is high school football compared to the SEC.

nothing lives forever man, especially in football. If you want to live that dream that the SEC will ride a magical cloud for hundreds of years, I won't stop you. But I'm pretty sure the 49er's, ACC, Big Ten, Miami Hurricanes, the Green Bay Packers, Army, and the NFC west might sing you a different tune amongst several others I haven't mentioned. I don't the SEC dominance stopping soon, but it's straight ignorance to think football power lasts forever.
EDIT: and Michigan beating Ohio State, had to quick add that.

Hmm, your theory would be great if OSU had barely won any of their BCS games. Guess what, they have won 6 out of 9 of them. How are they doing that if they are just lucky to be there? They won a national championship by beating a team many considered the best college team ever and went 14 and 0 that season.
As I said above, in their 3 losses, two were playing for the national championship and the other was losing to Colt McCoy on a last second TD drive. Trying to figure the logic that they shouldn't be there since their schedule is so easy. If that were the case, they must be getting lucky all the time in these big games.

Thats right .....money....and O$U = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the BCS and Big Ten and ABC and ESPN
Buckeyes sell , every where they go...ever wonder why these games are literally home games for their opponent?
Because O$U sells no matter where they play...fans line up to see them lose...and line up to see them win
O$U plays in a BCS game every year because they pack the house

They take the best teams from the BCS Conferences, that is pretty much it.
Your take has some merit, but the teams still have to earn the right to play there, regardless of their traveling brigade. OSU is consistently ranked high, year in and year out in both the pre-season standings, final standings and recruiting.

Well, enjoy that score thing while you rebuild. The Gators have had plenty of down seasons during this BCS run. I am a Gator fan BTW, as I lived in Gainesville for 3 years and still have family there.
See if you can bring something to the table besides that.
