    the most appearances

The reason OSU has the most BCS appearances is because they play in a cupcake conference and don't even have to play in a conference championship.

Let's take a gander at the Not so Big Ten.

Illinois - Easy win 75% of the time.

    Indiana - Free win.

    Iowa - Occasionally tough opponent.

Michigan - Has been a total pushover the last 3 years. Free win.

Michigan State- MSU looked good against the Big 10 teams. Until they played a real team. Alabama 49, Michigan State 7.

    Minnesota - Free win.

Northwestern - Free win. You should be embarrassed if you lose this one.

Penn State - Usually a somewhat tough game.

    Purdue - Free win.

Wisconsin - They lost to TCU. Enough said.

NOW, lets take a little look at OSU's 2010 schedule.

    Marshall - Free win.

Miami (FL) - OSU got beat by one of the worst Miami teams in years.

    Ohio - Free win.

    Eastern Michigan - Free win.

Illinois- Easy win 75% of the time.

    Indiana - Free win.

Wisconsin - OSU gets dominated by a Wisconsin team that then goes on to lose to TCU. Wisconsin loses all credibility.

    Purdue - Free win.

    Minnesota - Free win.

Penn State - OSU cruised to victory, and then Penn State lost to a Florida team that is the worst of this decade. Penn State loses all credibility.

Iowa - OSU barely squeaks out a win. Iowa starts strong and falls late.

Michigan - Don't get me started. Michigan looked like a high school team this year.

there's literally no way on God's green precious Earth you can make a logical claim that the Big ten is easier than the Big East or the ACC (not saying you did, just throwing it up there). I do agree with you to an extent. The Big ten has been down for about 5-6 years, while the SEC and Pac-10 have been on the rise. I have my strong reservations about the Pac-10 this year, but I guess the national title game might shut me up.

Here's the thing that literally frustrates me to no end. I don't understand why year in and year out for the past 4-5 years they constantly put the Big Ten against the SEC. I understand the BCS bowls obviously, but I guarantee if the lower tear teams play the ACC or Big East, people are singing a different tune. The fact of the matter is the SEC is just days ahead of the other conferences, but that will change in time.

No it won't. OSU or any other sorry ass Not so Big Ten team can schedule a game against the Florida Gators, Alabama Tide, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, and the South Carolina Gamecocks and the SEC teams will put on a clinic. Believe me. Michigan learned. Michigan State learned. Penn State learned. Hell, Wisconsin got beat by TCU.

Big Ten football is high school football compared to the SEC.

nothing lives forever man, especially in football. If you want to live that dream that the SEC will ride a magical cloud for hundreds of years, I won't stop you. But I'm pretty sure the 49er's, ACC, Big Ten, Miami Hurricanes, the Green Bay Packers, Army, and the NFC west might sing you a different tune amongst several others I haven't mentioned. I don't the SEC dominance stopping soon, but it's straight ignorance to think football power lasts forever.

EDIT: and Michigan beating Ohio State, had to quick add that.

  • What a surprise you root for Russia!!

Hmm, your theory would be great if OSU had barely won any of their BCS games. Guess what, they have won 6 out of 9 of them. How are they doing that if they are just lucky to be there? They won a national championship by beating a team many considered the best college team ever and went 14 and 0 that season.

As I said above, in their 3 losses, two were playing for the national championship and the other was losing to Colt McCoy on a last second TD drive. Trying to figure the logic that they shouldn't be there since their schedule is so easy. If that were the case, they must be getting lucky all the time in these big games.

Your take has some merit, but the teams still have to earn the right to play there, regardless of their traveling brigade. OSU is consistently ranked high, year in and year out in both the pre-season standings, final standings and recruiting.

Well, enjoy that score thing while you rebuild. The Gators have had plenty of down seasons during this BCS run. I am a Gator fan BTW, as I lived in Gainesville for 3 years and still have family there.

It has a lot of merit, because it's pretty spot on. But so is your take, too.

It's a cycle. tOSU is on top because they are always on TV. They're always on TV because they're on top. They get the big name bowls because they make the money. They make the money because they get the big time bowls. They have competitive teams because they can get top recruits. They can get top recruits because they have a competitive team.

It's a vicious cycle, but at the heart of it is the almighty dollar. You think if the BCS or NCAA was losing money on them, they'd still be where they are year in and out? tOSU can lose a game or two and still make a run at the National Championship year in and out. TCU, Utah, and Boise State, on the other hand, can run the table and not even get a bowl worth talking about, if any bowl at all.

Now, things are looking better for the TCU's and the Boise State's out there as of late. But do you think it's because the NCAA wants to put together a more "competitive game?". No, it's because Boise and TCU are drawing in big time viewers now. The NCAA and the BCS don't give two shits about the game of football. It's all about the money with them.

NOT AT ALL, NOT AT ALL.

Ginna changes the game. Florida would not have had so many scoring opportuinities, They wouldn't have had the benefit of Tressel going for it on 4th an 1 deep in his own territory. They wouldn't have been able to stack the line.

That game would have been TOTALLY, TOTALLY different.

Ginn would have drawn double coverage all night long and in addition to delivering a few big plays of his own, would have made it easier on others to make plays.

It would have been a totally different game.

You lost by 27 points. Ginn would not have been able to account for 27 points. This isn't the Big Ten, this is SEC ball. Each and every Florida defensive back had the speed to cover Ginn, there would not have been double coverage. Plus, Troy Smith didn't have time to even hit Ginn, he was under pressure the entire game. It was also Ginn's fault he got hurt, so he, you, or any OSU fan have no right to complain about it. Go Gators!

  • My only addition to this enjoyable argument is that Urban Meyer is a bitch who can't handle coaching.

And I like the guy. I really do.

They just wiped their asses with Arkansas and owuld have wiped their ass with Homo Auburn.

31-26 is hardly "wiping your asses." That's a one possession win. Ohio State would have no shot at beating Auburn. Top tier speed in the Big Ten is linebacker speed in the SEC. Get used to it. We play a different game. A better game. You beat an average SEC team, good luck trying to play with Bama, Auburn, and LSU. Oh, no wait, you already played LSU didn't you? Now correct me if I'm wrong, but you consider a 5 point win an "ass wiping." LSU beat you beat 14 points, so I guess they spit on you, wiped their asses with you, then left you out to dry. Then repeated.

    @king-ghoolie-lives said:

They wiped their ass with Oregon, who NOW, because OSU had a glitch with Wisconsin, get to avoid playing the best team in college football.

Haha good joke. OSU is the best team? Is that why they lost to the sorry ass Miami Hurricanes?

    @king-ghoolie-lives said:

IF there was a College playoff system and these SEC homos didn't have to play always in pristine Southern conditions, and benefit form OSU not playing for 48 days, the Buckeyes would win the National Title 7 out og 8 years. No problem, no question.

Oh, I'm sorry, but I guess we SEC "homos" play in the pristine Southern conditions because we are the SOUTH EASTERN CONFERENCE. It's not our fault the Buckeyes play in the shitty weather, it was their decision to play in the shitty weather. Once again, if OSU actually played in a real conference, they would have had a conference championship to play in. But they don't.

Don't argue with the SEC. You can't win this battle, look at the stats.

Your take has some merit, but the teams still have to earn the right to play there, regardless of their traveling brigade. OSU is consistently ranked high, year in and year out in both the pre-season standings, final standings and recruiting.

TCU fans showed up big time for the Rose bowl...Off year for Horns,Cowboys ? No matter Texas fans travel

  • If Ohio State played in a good conference they wouldn't be playing in a BCS game. Stop talking about last years Oregon team, they don't have the same players and Oregon would Destroy Ohio state now

Thank you. If the Buckeyes played in the SEC they might not even be bowl eligible.

  • I would like to add one more thing.

Will Ohio State ever play someone good in Non Conference? Stop playing the Marshall, and those bad teams...play some top 10 teams. You aren't Western Kentucky who has a excuse for playing a weak non conference schedule.
