I agree with your point about a CB, but the Browns are not going to tie up that much money at corner. UNLESS we can get a guy like Asomugha in FA. We have far, far bigger needs than another shut down corner in the Draft. BTW, that would move Sheldon Brown to saftey, and Wright to #3 cb, assuming he's still around.

I don't care what our pal Rich says- defense wins championships- but just look at the management team- I think it's a given they go offense, unless Green is already off the board, OR they think they can land an impact wr in the second round. (DA Bungles got lucky with Stinko there)

Yup we need a badass run stuffin' pass rushin' monster (or three) fer sure- but Fairley isn't going to be there @ #6. And look at it the other way Z, a great pass rush makes your corners look a lot better than they are, when they don't have to cover the opposing wideouts for ten seconds. Quick, who's the corners for the Steelers- see what I mean?

I agree about defense first. If Fairley, Bowers, Peterson or Dareus are there at 6 you draft them ahead of any offensive players. Those players will make an immediate impact. I love Aj Green, but those 4 players are more of a need for this team than Green is. If they are gone than you take Green, however I don't see any of those 5 players not taken in the first five picks so we may be SOL at # 6 for any of them..

Excatly so if Fairley,Bowers,Dareus are all gone as well as A.J. Green what are you gonna do take Robert Quinn a guy who hasnt played ball for a whole season with the #6 overall pick???

Personally i think you draft best player available as well as needs to so if A.J. Green is there we take him cause hes the BPA and fills a need, if hes not and say a guy like Peterson slips you grab him because hes the best player there and your not reaching for a need at Dline

Personally i think they will all be gone by the time we pick and we should trade back

    1.Carolina-Bowers

    2.Denver-Peterson

    3.Buffalo-Fairley

    4.Cinncy-A.J Green

    5.Arizona-Marceus Dareus

Okay now who do you take, Robert Quinn??? i would trade back and grab Julio Jones or maybe take Prince from Nebraska but he got embrassed by Justin Blackmon

Ya know, everybody and their uncle has the Broncos taking Peterson- and I just don't see it. The guy would have to be better than Dion Sanders to rate taking him that high. The Donkeys pass rush sucked last year, so even if Bailey leaves I don't see them taking a corner with the #2 pick.

Ditto the Bengals taking Green- they have Stinko for one more year, like the up and coming WRs already on the roster, and have had good luck picking up talent in the second round. And their defensive front was nothing to write home about.

Arizona needs a quarterback- period. Will they roll the dice on Cam Newton, or say Mallett? Stay tuned.

So IMHO it's entirely possible Green or another top defensive player could be there for the Browns @ #6.

  • I am more boring than Defense -- I want to trade down and take OL.

  • We need a wr more than anything.. it was the most glaring weakness of our team. Its aj green or julio jones with the 6th pick or a trade down.

Leonard hankerson in the 3rd round

  • Patrick Peterson is consider the best CB prospect to come around in a long time maybe since Deion, I dont personally like Mel Kiper Jr. but he said hes the best overall CB prospect to come out in 15 years thats saying something for Patrick Peterson, As far as Cinncy is concerned Stinko will be there for 1 more year but Shipley is a great slot reciever and really shouldnt be put into the #2 reciever position so they let Deismone Briscoe go to Tampa Bay and hes been doing pretty good...So what other options do they have Quan Cosby is more of a #3 as well. Andre Caldwell could step up maybe into a #2 type reciever role but does he really scare anybody nope hes not very good

  • Holmgren is offensive, Heckert is offensive and the head coach is offensive. If AJ Greene is there, they have to take him. If he's not, they might as well have a mass suicide.

Heckert and Holmgren coordinated last years draft and went defense first 2 rounds. That could easily happen again if were going 4-3.

The offense is very young with McCoy, MoMass, Robiskie, Thomas, Mack, Hillis, Hardesty, Lavaou, there's room to grow there. Look at the age on the D-line and linebackers, its evident and can't be ignored.

  • The heck is wrong with you people? Our front seven is well below average. Go look at our average yds given up per run.. not even AJ Green can change that.

This shouldn't be a question - we need DL help, and we need it yesterday. The 4-3 is a good start.. perhaps we can get one more good year out of Rogers.. but everyone else aside from Rubin flat-out stinks.

No one is arguing that- although I do think the defense went in the tank when Fujita got hurt, and Roth is a keeper. No doubt the Browns need a serious infusion of youth and talent in the defensive front seven. If we are going to switch to a 4-3 now would be the time because there's serious turnover afoot regardless.

It will come down to who's the BPA at a position of need when the Browns draft, and if it comes out equal, my hunch is the Browns will go offense. It's real early though- we're not even to the combine and individual workouts. A lot can change between now and April.

I am actually coming around to it now. Taking a DL. Pittsburgh gave up a total of 1,000 yards rushing ALL season. That is what wins games. Sign a FA receiver like Simms-Walker. Look at what Shurmur did in St. Louis without a decent receiver.

I'll get a raging semi if Fairley is on the board at #6.

On WalterFootball.com they have us taking Dareus from Alabama and I think he was a force on that D-Line for Saban so I would be happy with that.

  • kiper has green falling to us at 6..sure hope so

Would be a miracle if he does but with Luck no longer in the mix then the Panthers would be stupid to pass him up.

  • the worst thing any team could do is draft a player that is one dimensional

especially a guy like an OLB or a DE

you can look at any teams message boards and every team puts pass rusher up at the top of the needs list......but that is a fans misconception of how the game is played

anybody can pick a DE that runs a 4.5 and excelled in college at getting to the QB. the trick is finding a guy who can do more than that. a pass rusher is almost never the most important need for a team and almost always a fans pick for the best player available because sacks are so overrated

the browns need a lot more than a pass rusher. it starts from the inside out. the browns could use a DT that stops the run, they could also use some healthy linebackers and the biggest need is probably WRs

if the browns pass on a WR in the first round then id be willing to bet shurmur will be out in 2 years just like romeo and mangini

  • Aj green or bust!

  • We need playmakers at a bunch of positions. Just give me a difference maker on either side of the ball.

  • Patrick Peterson and Haden and Ward would be an amazing trio for years to come. I am watched darius and fairley for 2 years now and they are pretty badasd too. So I think we will be in a good position when we pick.

If we took Peterson it would be as a safety IMHO.

    Mel doesn't think so

Normally I think "The Hair" is full of it, but this time I'll have to agree. The Panthers take Green, and who's going to get him the ball? Clausen? He has the first five picks going almost exactly the way I predicted, but to be honest I've never seen Blaine Gabbert mentioned as a potential top 10 pick- frankly never heard of him before.

BTW, he has Green waiting there for the Browns @ #6.

Also heard more of Mel on late night ESPN radio, and his estimation is the draft is very deep in DE, DT, but only 3 WRs with first round credentials. That being the case if H&H see it the same way, about guaranteed they go offense first, and then hope one of the top DL falls out of the first round.

  • Would people stop suggesting we trade down already? That's usually not even an option.
