Am I the only one who would love to trade up for Patrick Peterson? He and Haden would wreak havoc in the AFC for the next 10 years.

I hope ur the only one. Not only would I not draft him but def wouldn't trade up.
What good does it do if we have 2 shut down corners, but can rush the passer or stop the run?

AFter taking a CB in the top 10 last year I really think the last thing we will do is take another one in the top 10 this year when we need the most help at WR (if we don't pick one up in FA) and rebuilding the DL. I am 100% positive that we won't trade up to take one in the top 5 when the only difference between Peterson and Amukamara are that Peterson can do returns and is a slightly better tackler and Amukamare might be slightly better at coverage (didn't look too bad at tackling when I looked at his highlight film). I can't wait for a new CPA to be agreed on so teams can actually start trading and signing FA's. If one doesn't get worked on before the draft we will definatly see us picking DL and WR in the first 2 picks.

1st round selection- PATRICK PETERSON CB LSU
Its a strech but he could fall to us at this spot. Every team drafting ahead of us is very poor on defense so which position do they draft. They are all in need of a CB and D-line. Not too many CBs get picked this high! Keeping fingers crossed. Alternate pick Marcell Dareus.
2nd round selection- GREG JONES ILB MSU
Hard hitter, sure tackler, yeah doesn't sound like the browns I know but this is the new browns, 2 def players first 2 rounds and both will end up starting
Alternate pick -Marvin Austin
3rd round selection- Benjamin Ijalan G/OT Nova
They try to sure up the right side of the line with an overall well rounded lineman. Alternate Pick Leonard Hankerson WR Mia

1st Robert Quinn DE North Carolina 2nd Marvin Austin DT North Carolina 3rd Curtis Brown CB Texas

no way hayward and matthews drop that far. hayward played himself into the top 15 in that sugarbowl game and matthews will go in the second.

Heyward = another Vernon Gholston

Hmm, I guess you're right about trading up for him. But if he were available at #6, i'd take him in a heartbeat.
The only players I really want in the first round are AJ Green, Nick Fairley and Patrick Peterson (much better prospect than Haden). Odds are, we won't land any of them. If thats the case, we should trade down and pick up Robert Quinn who should still be there at #10-13.

Don't be an anti Ohio State homer. Just because they play the same position doesn't mean Heyward is going to following Gholston's footsteps. It's like saying that Ohio State is never going to have another good WR come out in the draft because of Ginn and Robiskie.

The only reason gholston failed is because he was lazy which everyone said he wouldn't be in the pros but he still was also you cant just expect to run around people in the NFL which is the only move he had Heyward on the other hand is versatile since he can move around on the line and still be effect not to mention he has power and decent speed where gholsten just had speed

1st Robert Quinn DE North Carolina 2nd Marvin Austin DT North Carolina 3rd Curtis Brown CB Texas

I don't buy that a teams gonna draft a player that hasn't played football in 2 years in the first round. Character concerns and only 1 year of good production doesn't translate to a top 10 pick in my opinion. I think some draft guru's have him slotted way to high.

1.Trade down to 13 to the Lions acquire extra picks and get Julio Jones...Dont see AJ Green being there and unless Fairley or someone falls no thanks on Quinn who hasnt played in a year
2.Justin Houston OLB Georgia...Or Cam Heyward if he were to fall, also maybe Marvin Austin
3.Casey Matthews trade up if you have to grab him

Trade down to a QB needy team***, get a 1st and 3rd rounder in exchange for #6 overall pick.1. Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
2. Anthony Costanzo, T, Boston College (If picked, Curtis Brown, CB, Texas)
3. Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina (If picked, Sam Acho, DE, Texas)
3. Casey Matthews, LB, Oregon
Two points- to trade down, you need someone who wants to TRADE UP. Moving into the 6th pick another team will have to see a "can't miss" prospect. And as to a quarterback needy team, I don't know if there's a QB in this draft worthy of the 6th pick. If anyone's going to take a QB early, it will be the Cardinals. Carolina could use someone better than Clausen, but there's no one close to Andrew Luck this year.

How about swapping places with Lions like i mentioned so they can acquire ethier the DB they need (Peterson,Prince) or someone on there D-line with Suh how about Quinn, they need a corner bad and neither of those two will be there when they draft...Also they pick 13 one pick in front of the Rams to steal Julio Jones

Ever think the Lions are in a rebuild mode too, and won't want to give up picks? According to the draft value chart the Lions would have to give the Browns their second round pick in order to swap places.
Put Julio Jones opposite Calvin Johnson, and it's trouble for the rest of the NFC. -

I mean for god sakes Maganai swapped back how many times with the #5 overall pick and we didnt see much in return for that
-
Ill take trading down with anyone just before St.Louis picks because the only two i would want is Green or Jones im still praying that Green someone falls to us i just dont see it happening, so any takers before the #14 pick i would trade back with and grab Julio and never think twice about it

I love to speculate on the draft as much as anybody else. But I am really not sure on this year's draft. Everyone has Green as the top receiver coming out with Jones as the #2. That could easily change at the combine. I personally would rather have Jones, as he is the stronger and more physical of the two. Both can run up the YAC and would be successful in the WCO...so I'll be happy with either of them. But I would prefer Jones. I wouldn't be shocked if Jones was gone and Green was still available at 6 or the other way around as most people see it. But everyone that is talking about trading down (including myself in a previous post) may not realize that trading down to get Jones, may be a very bad choice...He won't last much longer than Green...and may be gone before him.
As far as my ideal 3 rounds...Jones in 1...Justin Houston or Jeremy Beal in 2...Casey Matthews in 3
Of course...things could, and probably will, change by the time the draft gets here.
-
Jones may very well end up picked before Green, I wonder about Green's elusiveness compared to Jones' quickness and elusiveness to get open.
Getting Houston or Beal in the second round would be cool, but I figured before they would be picked in the first round, or top of the second
before the Browns pick. Who knows. It's fun though, because most all of us will be wrong like every other year. The first rounder is so much easier...

My personal 3 round draft:
The reincarnation of Deacon Jones to rush the passer.
The reincarnation of Dick Butkus to stop the run.
The reincarnation of Jerry Rice to catch passes.
This was supposed to be a "wish list" right? Well, those are my wishes.

I just want to get everyone's opinion on who they think we will draft with the first 3 picks. At this point we have a good idea of where most people will fall in the first, seond, thrid round so just jump in and give your picks and opinions.
Round 1: A.J. Green WR: I just have a really good feeling that Green won't be off the board by the time we come up to pick. I really think that there is a 75% chance that he is still on the board. A lot of mocks have him either going to Carolina (no one is ever going to take a WR with their #1) Buffalo (I think they have alot more holes that need filled other than WR) and Cincinatti (They have already said that Ocho will be back next season and they have an abundance of good WR they started to play at the end of the season. Clearly the best WR to come out in the draft in the past 5ish seasons. If he is gone we pick up a DE/DT depending on who is left.
Round 2: Cameron Heyward DE: Another guy who I think is going to fall to the second. He got alot of bad attetnion during the season from not living up to last year but showed in the Sugar Bowl that he has what it takes to play in tough games and he could just be great in the NFL. Would definatlly have to fall though since he is still considered a late r1st to early seond round pick. Another pick would be Tank Williams LB from TCU but only if we stayed in a 3-4. If we miss Green in the first and go DE I think we pick up Jonathan Baldwin at WR who is huge at 6'5" and only had a drop off of production this season because of horrible QB play.
Round 3: Cassy Mathews ILB/OLB: I think this pick in the 3rd round is a no brainer for us. Some will say that we need to look at CB first or RT but I think this is THE safest pick you could make in the 3rd round. He comes from a family full of pro bowl football players and is really where his brother Clay was physically as maybe a Junior in College so he still has some muscle to put on. He is good enough to play ILB if we stay 3-4 and play outside in a 4-3 and either way you look at it we need to shore up those positions regardless of what defense we end up running.

A slight update on my original 3 round wish list/mock draft.
First: At this point I feel that there are equal chances of the Browns either getting Green, Quinn, Dareus and even Peterson. I have actually grown more to think out of these 4 the biggest with bust potential is now Dareus the DT from Alabama just because of his potential for injury. Next would be Quinn who I have grown to like more over the past weeks and will more than likely love to get after the combine, but his bust potential comes not really from his 1 season suspension from the NCAA but his athletic skill not being able to transfer to suscess in the NFL. I feel that Peterson and Green are the most solid that just might fall to us with Peterson having a bit more bust potential but only by a small fraction.
Second: In the second round I have given up all hope for Heyward falling to us. I believe that we will go DT if we get either Green or Peterson in the first, or Wr if we go Dareus or Quinn. The is a large list of WR who could be gone in the late first, or taken in the second who's stock will change in the coming months so I am not really set who we would pick at that position, but as far as DT goes is I think we will get DT Drake Nevis out of LSU. He is just dominate and falls because he fits at 4-3 DT and not at a NT or DE in a 3-4 set.
Third: In the 3rd I don't think we will take Casey Mathews becuase it seems that on most mock drafts his stock has fallen since the NCAA season has ended. I think he will be there in the 4th and that would be a good place to take him. In the 3rd we could really go a bunch of different directions. I know there is a good OT availible who played for Flordia named Marcus Gilbert and started for 30 games over the past 3 years and has played both tackle positions. A very good run blocker. There is also a punch of WR that could still be on the board that could make solid impacts and another good 4-3 DT from USC named Jurrell Casey. He had a solid year with 67 tackles 5 sacks and an INT. His film is good, he just seems to slide off of tackles and does a great job of finding the ball carrier. Just like Nevis he is expected to fall because his talents and size constrict him to be just a 4-3 DT and the 3-4 teams won't be looking at him... hopefully.
