  • What a great country huh? Despite (apparently) being dumber than a box of rocks these guys are going to be millionaires in short order.

Without sports these guys would be lucky to hold down a job at the local carwash.

  • What seems to be the problem? These guys aren't being paid to articulate the chaos theory or solve multivariable calculus equations, they're here to play football.

    And they're damn-good at it.

    Get over it.

When you can run a 4.3 40, beat a press covering corner, and jump 40 inches in the air over a safety to haul in an underthrown pass for a TD, then you can talk.

Good one... But you have to have a brain to do my job, probably yours too. 4.3 40 etc does you no good.

I actually do the same job as them. What I was trying to say is their physical gifts get them the millions, not their mental prowess, or lack thereof.

I'm a center, on the other hand. I actually have to have a brain.

    I wish.

But I agree with you, it's ridiculous what they get paid in comparison to those who make a difference everyday. It's all for entertainment, and its a shame.

But, if I can get paid for playing, I'm not going to turn it down. Knock on wood.

  • Well, let's see. I took that sample test & had 45, plus I'm 5'8", 64 years old, & 214 lbs. Now, I figure I could be a high pick, IF I were....

QB...10 lbs heavier, 8" taller, 42-44 years younger, & talented

    DB...same weight, 4" taller, 42-44 years younger, & FAST

WR...10 lbs heavier, 10" taller, 42-44 years younger & faster than that DB above

I found the sample test to be pretty easy & I have no college. I find myself wondering about some of these guys hurting their scores by spending too much time on questions on which they're "stumped". Of course, the flip side of that is their inability to make quick decisions. I'll let the "draft" pros decide on this one as there are some kids who may lack classroom skills but understand their game.

Yeah, I play for UNCC soccer, team Canada U-23 soccer, and got a scholarship to play for UNC Charlotte. Everything has been handed to me since middle school.

In high school I had a B- average, and even I scored a 40 on the wonderlic. I really do wonder how dumb some of these guys are with a score of 6.

With that said, it really doesn't matter what their scores are, as long as they're great at what they do. That's like factoring a med student's 40 time with how great they'll be in the profession.

With one exception- surgeons. Manual dexterity is way more important than genius intelligence. One of my (former) co-workers was great at cross-stitch and decided she was going to go to medical school. I thought to myself- "you're not smart enough". She's now one of the best surgeons in town.
