"Canada’s Liberal Party was in charge of the federal government at the time and set out on a determined course to cut Canada’s federal deficit and reduce the federal debt as a percent of the economy’s GDP"

More proof the moniker's given to our "politicians" conservative and liberal is a bunch of marketing bullshit. They are all raping us.

Yeah, the left vs right bullshit is just a distraction. It's sad that the political hacks can't see that.

Liberals and RINO's both, which are career politicians and need to hit the unemployment line.

Maybe its time everyone takes a closer look at the tea party candidates. Or you can believe the Liberal media and just write them off as fringe politicians. Think for yourself.

I wouldnt say we're prospering here due to cuts..I would say less damaged to the fact our banks had regulated lending practices in place at the time of the US housing bubble. In fact i would say prospering due to increase in exploration and mining.

Socialized health care here is fine, though it's not jump to the pump service it's more then adequate. If they charged 50 bucks a every hospital appointment it would weed out the heavy users who use the free care as a hotel room. But every time that gets brought up, left wing media runs crazy with it that we're not abiding by the rules.

Housing regulations more stringent here, it's to the point where home ownership is a pipe dream for some. I think minimum down is 10% and 30 year max mortgage. Interest on mortgages is not income tax deductible.

If the focus was on economic growth, they should be looking at reducing income tax, and abolishing the tax exempt goods. That directly puts $$ in the hands of the consumers to spend, if thats the objective?

I do NOT want Canada's hc - unless you only use it for family dr visits...

This isn't a discussion about health care. It's about a system that cuts government workers making $40/hr to push less paperwork to decrease the costs of running a business. In this case the business is government.

Leave it to Cal and the others to debate something that has nothing to do with the real issues (Palin, Obama's birth cert, Weiner, Gingrich's tab at Tiffany's). We are going to be bankrupt by 2025 and Cal is talking health care?

The point was a country is prospering despite having national heath care. Imagine what the US could do WITHOUT that expense.

Cal: Have a time believing that, Or at least it isn't an accurate assessment in my middle class Canada. Even Mayo clinic visits to the States are insured by Cdn HealthCare.

Kosar: Point taken...you Gents do have a poor system for waste when it comes to making changes.

                    Too many career politicians.

Also, government employees are severely overpaid even at the county level (here in FL anyway). I remember an old boss who was looking for a new engineer was having trouble competing with the COUNTY on the basis of SALARY.

Lambdo, do you live in Canada?

Will you enlighten Cal on socialized Health Care if so.

Hi Kosar, Yes i do...but you can't enlighten a black hole so not sure I can be of assistance to Cal....(jk Cal I do support some of your views). Personally I'm a fan of it and don't mind paying tax on a service that has direct effect on human life.

Post Office mandated back to work now, but without contract. Lots of unionized gov't service industries on strike here within a provincial level as well (teachers, nurses and dietitians) The pensions are too cumbersome and are coming back to hurt alot of these jobs i fear.

Beer is just fine here Bunker, if you don't like a cool refreshing 5% go slam some of that bud light water you boys hoard down there...
