You mean the same weak team that hasnt missed the playoffs in the last what, 8 or so years?

It's funny how you think you would make a better coach/player then anyone in the NFL. Keep rooting for the squeelers chubby.

I've been staying out of this sh.it show but here you are pulling me back in to the ring. I didn't get to watch the game but I did see the highlights and I did get to watch the Colts week 1. The Colts without Peyton Manning are far from a playoff team. The Colts without Peyton Manning are immediately in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes with Kansas City assuming Manning doesn't recover. If he does they're still selecting inside the top 5 and I'd argue the top two. A win is most certainly a win and you take them with a smile no matter what. However to IMPLY that the Colts hitting the field now are the same colts that haven't missed the playoffs in 8 years is so xxxxing dumb it gives me a stomach ache. Manning hid A LOT of the glaring problems with that roster. No manning neuters Reggie Wayne and all those "above average" receivers after Wayne are immediately average outside of Dallas Clark. You take the win this week but I wouldn't parade around celebrating it. Just like I'm not running around celebrating the shutout against the Seahawks. Last I checked the Steelers got murdered week 1. Take the win and move on, a one legged cripple could beat a Kerry Collins lead Colts team.

To a large extent I agree with your take. Outside of Mathis & Freeney, the Colt's D is very average, and Bracket (team captain and defensive signal caller) didn't even play. Gannon did comment the Colt's D is designed to protect leads, not play from behind. I was really happy that the Browns finally figured out a way to close out an opponent though. 🙂 FWIW, I think if the Steelers play an error free game Sunday night they will officially turn this year's edition of the Colts into a dead horse. The only thing that makes me hesitant to predict a Pittsburgh laugher blowout is it's National TV, and the Colts have their backs against the wall.

Manning does make everyone around him better when he's in. Makes average receivers Pro Bowlers, and makes garbage look at least average. BTW, my neurologist pal says eight weeks minimum before Manning will even be able to practice- they will do MRIs to make certain the bones have fused. My brother in law had the identical surgery, I don't look to see Manning back on the field much before the end of November, if at all. Yeah, the Colts could well be 2-10 by that time, their game against Kansas City in October could be the Luck Bowl. But I disagree about the one legged cripple. They did have Hillis bottled up for most of the game.

No offense but this is the issue with Browns fans. You think that because a guy has a great season, he is a hall of famer. Greatness comes from the ability to be great over a long period of time, not just for a season or a part of a season.

Hillis is a great prospect and is looking like he will be very good..........but don't anoint him just yet...........time will tell.

So basically you are saying that we can't get excited about any player playing well until they have had several good years? We are just happy we have a guy that we can rely on at running back. Sure that could change but right now its a fact. The only person to mention hall of fame was you! You are so full of it. The same thing could be said of the Steelers WR Mike Wallace. You already have him in your hall of fame..

Fair statement. I agree that the Colts without Manning may be in the bottom 5 teams. (But its not just him, they have lost other good players as well. They lost the heart and soul of their defense without Bob Sanders). Though I am not so sure that Kerry Collins is all that bad...and least no worse than about a half dozen or so other QBs in this league right now. His problem clearly is that he was brought in the week before the regular season, and this Colts offense is a very difficult offense.

I agree on Collins to a point but he was never very good in Tennessee with plenty of time to prepare. If I were the Colts I'd pick up a guy like David Garrard. As far as Sanders is concerned I would have never called him the "heart and soul of the defense' but he was certainly one of their defensive leaders. His injury woes are what did him in and I'm honestly surprised he's on a roster at all right now. As far as "Shedding a tear for the Colts" is concerned I was merely pointing out that the roster has always been mostly Peyton Manning. His ability on offense allowed the team to cover their glaring problems on defense. They've always been able to outscore, rarely have they defended to victory.

Yea, but note, like I posted elsewhere, before yesterday the last 3 Browns Colts game ended 10-6, 13-6 and 9-6 all won by the Colts. In those at least, they clearly "defended" themselves to victories. Aberrations perhaps, but they could and did do it.

I'm not trying to be a troll with this next statement but they were playing the Browns. The Colts have never been known for their defense and despite having a few solid years overall as a team defense most of the problems were covered up by Manning on the other side. Bottom line and for the sake of avoiding additional arguments about arguments the Colts are putrid without Manning. It's just the first time we've had to see it in great detail because Manning hasn't missed any games until now.

I agree. The Colts aren't the Colts we have known.

It might sound good to beat them, but if one uses them as the barometer, you aren't going to win many games.

A win is a win and extra good if it evens the record, but nobody should get too excited over this.

I think we should be excited about getting a win no matter who we were playing. The Colts are no where near the team they are with Manning playing but you play the teams on the schedule. No one felt sorry for us when we were starting Spurgeon Wynn and all those other wonderful quarterbacks we've tried.

I think we beat Miami this week...how long since we had a winning record??

I don't think you're going to beat Miami. You have no real answer for Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess is a tank underneath. They've had two tough match ups with the Patriots week 1 and the emerging Texans week 2. They're going to be pissed and ready to grab a "W". Your defense isn't going to have a good time with Marshall or Bess for that matter. I won't say it's not possible but I'll be surprised if the Browns pull it out.

  • now if only they had a QB to get marshal and bess the ball....

Henne hasn't been bad. As I said before two tough match ups to start the season. Brandon Marshall had a load of catches week 1. Henne was 30 for 49 which completion percentage wise isn't the greatest BUT he through for 419 and 2 td's (1 int) Marshall had 7 for 139, Bess 5 for 92. His performance week 2 was more marginal at 1 td/1 int and 170 yards through the air but the Houston defense is emerging. I don't expect a Cleveland win week 3.

  • He'll be fine every team will be keying on him and making Colt get his job done. They need to run him 25 times a game atleast he punishes defensive lines He's a BEAST.

I don't expect a win, but the Browns have shown enough against the Colts to say they certainly can win. Marshall is a matchup nightmare agreed (look for Haden to cover him), but he can't catch anything if Henne is on his back looking up at the sky. You could argue the Browns haven't faced a high octane offense yet, but I was quite shocked to see the Browns D in the top 10 in YPG allowed.

And in contrast the 'Fins D is dead last in that category. You don't win many games in the NFL surrendering 430 Yards per.

Whether or not the Browns win remains to be seen, but to say the Browns have no answer for Brandon Marshall is absurd. Right now, Joe Haden can match up with just about any receiver in the league. That includes Marshall and anyone else.

And as I said before, them being 'pissed' is irrelevent. It don't mean squat. I am pissed because the Browns have been so bad so many years now. Is that going help the Browns win? Hell no.

The inverse being that the Browns have played the Bengals and the hobbled Colts. The Dolphins played the Patriots week 1 and a very explosive offense week 2 with Houston. The YPG stat is absolutely irrelevant in this argument because it's comparing apples to oranges. One team played two elite offenses and the other played two teams that can barely get out of their own way. The Bengals being the better of the two. As far as Joe Haden is concerned he's certainly a good corner but Brandon Marshall is a elite talent with above average strength. I'd wager that Marshall still gets his and if he doesn't (credit to Haden) Bess will underneath. The Dolphins are far and away the best team of the 3 being discussed. They will be up for this game.

Marshall is such an elite player? How many Pro Bowls has he made in his 5 years in the league? Exactly the same number that I have, zero. Is he productive? Sure. He has caught a lot of balls. Is he better than any WR the Browns have? Well, yea, duh. Can Joe Haden handle him? Absolutely. It is Joe, I believe, who is the "elite talent" in that matchup. Marshall may get "his" 5 or 6 catches. The key will be "for what distance".

I appreciate the fact that you showed your work in coming to this opinion but you are way off. The Dolphins are not good at all. Trust me, I don't have the ticket and have to watch enough of their games down here. They may beat the Browns but they are not much better if any.

They haven't looked bad this season IMO. I'm not saying they are world beaters and honestly they may not even be a playoff team BUT they've done some good things in week 1 and 2. My point was you can't base your opinion on the Dolphins by their YPG given up or their defense for that matter. They played two elite offenses in week 1 and 2. They are better than both the Colts and the Bengals but as you eluded it is a winnable game for the Browns. I just don't see it happening.

  • Like everyone has said, defenses are gameplanning for him now, the O-line is depleted and we lost Vickers. Plus going to a new offense that is more pass happy, it will take a while for Hillis to adjust. As Hillis showed in the Indy game, he still has the ability to be explosive.

I'd have to agree with Homo here. I watched the Phins/Pats game and the Phins looked pretty decent. I was amazed that Daboll wasn't doing run, run, pass like he did over here.

I know we've beaten the Phins the last few times we've played them, but they look much improved and their offense is pretty darn good. Just be leery.

IMO, I see the Browns offense not being able to keep up with the Phins offense. I don't think the Browns offense will put up enough points to win this one.

    Hope i'm wrong.
