Rookie Sheard Was Also A Brilliant Draft Pick
-
I have loved the last 2 drafts. I didn't love the Ward pick when it happened, but love it now. I also still question the Hardesty pick. With that being said I am still not a huge fan of Sheard. He showed absolutely nothing until the Colts game. He did show a lot of improvement in the Colts game though, but I need to see it over a longer period of time.

^^^ that was more my point...
if sheard has a bad game against miami, there will be threads saying hes a bust. can we temper making these premature evaluations until we get more film than 2 games?
talk about jumping the gun....

I hope you aren't taking my statement as me jumping the gun. By no means am I ready to call him a bust even if he ran off a string of say 5 bad games. He is a rookie with limited off season activities to get him up to speed. I am just simply stating I haven't seen much of him as a pro to make me a believer and I did not follow him in college at all. I wouldn't even call him a bust after the season unless he was absolutely brutal. With that being said though I also won't call him the savior at DE after one good game ... or a string of 5 or 6 good games.

I only mention it, because of his play in college, AND watching him in a practice in Berea - he has very solid balance, and is quick - plays full on
every second of the play. Has terrific body control. He's a rookie - and the things he did in the last game, was just a start. I don't know of any reason
why he won't be a whole lot better later. And that means, to me, he's going to really be terrific.
The other thing I wanted to mention, was that Pinkston was a... fourth round pick? Starting on the oline with such a short time to
get into the NFL groove in training camp.... that can NOT be easy for an olineman. Apparently, as a rookie, he's a far better choice at LG than
Cousins, from the gitgo. That's a pretty nice choice in the round he was picked, I think..

I agree, let's start Little next week, no need for Robiskie to start. I think the guy is a big upgrade, and we can put Cribbs in the slot.
I hope they get the right side of the O-line in order.
I'm guessing this will happen. Little should start and Robo can sit although today in the Presser Shurmur called Robo a "real" receiver not just a blocker. Little is a talented Rookie coming off a year of not playing so he should be coming around by game 3.
Sheard over running plays is a good thing because over-committing can be fixed. It just shows that you can and have the ability to get free. You just have to learn to make the right decision when you do.

2 games 0 catches 0 yards 0 touchdowns that's a "real" receiver.

You say "until the Colts game" like he's been playing for years and the Colts game was his first sign of life. The Bengals game was his first NFL game, and people are shitting on him because he looked like a rookie. In his rookie game.

Heckert is hitting these draft picks out of the park and fans are still crabby like it is 2008. Don't understand it.
These guys are players: Sheard, Taylor, Little, Pinkston, Marecik, Haden, Ward, McCoy, Lauvao...
Asuming Little is staring by ... oh let's say next week ... that's 9 starters out of two drafts ... 6 of them with Pro Bowl potential

I agree that Heckert is doing a great job in the draft, and I really like who he's picked up. But 6 with Pro Bowl potential??? Either you have a muchhhh looser interpretation of the word "potential" or you are wayy too optimistic.

heckertt is doing a hell of a job. love the draft since he's been here.
sheard had some monster moments in preseason and i think he and taylor will be just what we needed (could still use another DE).
i want to see if hardesty can play in a game other than the fourth quarter and other than in goal line situations. we need to spell hillis at least once in a while for everyone's sake.

no...i was kind of agreeing with you in that you said you'd wait to pass judgment after getting some more games under his belt. my comment was a general observation of this board....everyone either sucks or is a beast based on what they did last week.
for instance...robo has no catches in 2....two games.....so he must suck. its very black and white in a grey world with many on here.

I also ment in his pre season play which was far from impressive and not typically against elite talent playing at a high level.
