First off you can't compare baseball and football. First baseball has a farm system, fotball doesn't.

2nd free agency in baseball and football is also much different.

yes football teams need to build through the draft but also need to bring in free agents.

You can't just build through the draft, you have to sign free agents that are a fit for your system.

I agree with your last two statements but this team just isn't there yet. Would you buy a head of lettuce if you knew you couldn't buy the meat cheese and bread for another 3 weeks?

  • Schooled me on the salary cap? Lmao....no...not really. I remember u ranting about spending money to torch our cap...that's about it

  • Malcom Floyd = Injured all year.

Steve Breaston = Has no knees left.

Sydney Rice = Injured all year.

None of those receivers are worth the money they are currently receiving - even Floyd.

Suh is the best tackle since Sapp, Haden isn't a top 5 DB...sorry before you get antsy

    1.Revis

    2. Troy P

    3. Eddie Reed

    4. Woodson

    5. Nnamdi

Comparing CB's to safeties is apples and oranges. At that point compare Sue to DE's ... he wouldn't be the best at his position anymore.

You should also factor in the fact that in a very pass happy NFL a stud CB is more important then a stud DT.

The argument between the 2 is stupid though because both are young upcoming studs at there respective positions and both will only get better

The NFL lumps safeties and corners together for stat purposes and I would say with the ones I mention it is more a comparison of Fuji and Golden Delicious. If you surveyed every GM in football right now and asked them Haden or Suh on your squad all but Heckert would say Suh..

Cleveland fans ran Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow out of town and how did that work out? Braylon may have dropped balls but at least he was a threat.

  • Yeah....braylon was such a threat he was let go by the jets in favor of another who hadn't played football in 2 years due to being locked up. He was such a threat that he never drew double coverages cause he has stone hands. He was such s threat the best contract he could get was a one year tryout. Nevermind he hated it here and didn't care to put forth effort. Nevermind he never attempted to work on his game or that he had a TO ego without the production. Yeah....he was awesome....the only threat I saw was the threat of him dropping another TD to lose a game.

We also have the same player in Evan Moore as is kw2.....minus the bum knees. He was a threat to get injured every play. Nevermind his diva status or ridiculous contract demands....

Lmao....we were a bad team even with them. So exactly what was you point? I think it worked out just fine cause we have cap room to improve the team without those 2 tools creating controversy

True but Mangini had a system he was trying to build of smart, athletic, and tough players. They didn't fit the mold. He got rid of them, brought in a bunch of jets, and hillis. Then he got the worst qb in delhomme and had to play qb carousel. At least that team showed toughness and drive.

This team looks lost on offense.

My point is MoMass, Little and every other wideout on this team is a #3 possession receiver. Holmgren hads the nuts to say in his press conference this week that, "they didn't really know what they had at WR so they were using this year to evaluate the WRs". If he did know what we have in Robo, MoMass, Cribbs, etc you want him running your team?

The Browns can't stretch the field, and regardless of Paddy Sherms thinks, it helps to have a guy that can at least draw attention of a deep safety. And if you're telling me that you wouldn't take 53 catches for 900 yards, yeah 17.1 a catch, and 7 TDs from a downfield threat (yeah Edwards's numbers last year) you are as crazy as Holmgren..

  • I never wanted fatass running the team.

So are u saying tannenbaum is crazy for letting braylon go? Honestly those numbers are pedestrian for a so called #1 wr. Considering who we have here throwing the football, Greg Jennings would have a bad year. Receivers do not make the qb. Cart before the hourse

Good point. Brady makes any receiver look like a stud.

  • Heckert had done nothing that is ground breaking through the draft..

He may have not missed on Joe Haden and TJ ward..

but where are the diamonds in the rough?? and please dont tell me pinkston and lauvano.. They wouldnt be starting for any other team.

What kind of production do you want from late round picks at offensive guard who came in with no career starts (meaning Lauvao and Pinkston). Either way that's a terrible point because so far they have not busted on picks through the first 2-3 rounds. Each player over the last 2 drafts so far have proven to be effective nfl players.

  • Btw MoMass may be a possession receiver and not be a great athlete, he does manage to get deep for big gains fairly often. And Little is a #3 possession receiver? That's gotta be a joke. He's got the potential to be a great flanker in this league.

Our WRs STINK, they are terrible. They'd have trouble making other teams top 3. Those numbers, however pedestrian, are better than anything on the Browns this year and the point is if you can use Braylon as a downfield threat MoMass and Little will be more effective, sheesh...NFL 101

The last 3 weeks his longest catch is 14 yards...really?

Larry, here is the only thing...................

No winner has ever been built without some good veteran FA playmakers.

We have a lot of money under the cap, and we are short on playmakers. Nobody is saying forget teh draft, but it isn't like we have been having success in the draft.

    C- maybe D +.

This regime has had success in the draft though. You honestly believe c-/d+ over the past 2 seasons since Heckert got here? Are you blind??

Haden is a potential stud, and Ward is a potential pro bowler ... while I am not a huge McCoy or Hardesty fan those guys could be solid starters and at the very least could add good depth. Lauvao could be a solid back up spot starter as well.

This years guys look like studs as well ... Taylor and Sheard are having very nice seasons. Little has been getting better and better and I think could be an absolute stud.

You guys want these rookies to come in with no off season and just dominate ... that isn't going to happen.

To rate the last 2 drafts c-/d+ is the stupidest thing you have said in a long line of stupid thing you have said this year.

    A. The NFL lumps DT/DE in the same catagory more so then CB/S

    B. I don't know why the obsession with Suh when we had no chance to draft him as he went before Haden.

    C. Heckert is not the ONLY gm that would take the stud CB or the stud DT. In the current pass heavy NFL CB is perhaps the most important position on the defensive side of the ball.

just another opinion....looks like an asshole to me.

tell me genius....since your so good at NFL101....how effective of a threat would braylon be with noodles running around like a chicken with his head cut off?

  • How many drop ball do our WRs have??

    ********************************************************************

That's stupid. Little is a rookie, and he has a huge upside. And judging him by an average of how long his passes are?

Have you ever heard of an offensive line? Well, that has a lot to do with how short the Browns' throws have to be.

Their offense doesn't run, with the injuries and Mack's surgery. Stop with the PWI.

1st half of the Oakland game Colt threw a beautiful pass down the sideline and Little couldn't separate or run the ball down. He's not fast so let's not act like he is a 4.5 isn't blazing...
