It's not where you draft, it's how you draft.
Somehow the Steelers have found impact players without worrying where they draft every year.
Win every week at all costs.

Completely agree.
The day the Browns start throwing games to improve draft position is the day I stop watching this team. Jags tried to win the game too, trust me(bad decision by Gabbert, MJD was open in the flat 1 on 1).
The Browns also won't lose out.
-
You better be enjoying the fuck out of this win. I have a feeling that division play is going to be very stressful for us fans.
-
its called pride. are telling me that if we somehow pull off a miraculous win against the steelers your gonna bitch about losing a couple draft spots?
-
Well, you are right, it was a nothing game that probably cost us a better player in the draft. But I've seen some improvement in the last two games and I think that's more important. And Heckert's draft classes are the playmakers on this team, which is really great. We're seeing the defence really starting to get better - especially on the D-line. Also, McCoy, Little, Cribbs, the new RB, are making progress. Even the coach. The right side of the line may have had their best game yet.
It can be discouraging when a team loses week after week. Sometimes a win is just what you need to make you feel good about yourself. Having said that, this could have been a statement game 24-10 if the McCoy doesn't give up the int. and the field goal is counted.

Agreed. OMG, if we hadn't had a botched snap the Browns would be sitting at a very ugly 5-5 right now, and with a win over a very beatable Cardinals team, one upset in the division (don't forget the Ratbirds have lost to the Jags and Seahags) I still think the Browns have a very realistic shot at at least 6 wins this year, maybe more if the defense holds up. That and a brain fart against the Bungles, and the Browns could easily be 6-4 right now, not 4-6, and be the poster child for winning ugly. 14 ugly wins will get you into the playoffs, and I'll take that any day over draft position.
Yup, by your logic, those Dolphins fans should be really pissed today, because of the big win- they just won themselves right out of the Luck Derby.

Back to reality:
All this did was cost us maybe 3-5 spots in the draft. For what? A worthless win?
Jags didn't even try to win it at the end by throwing, they could have ran it in easily but decided to pass.
Face it, we are going to lose out, so what did this game even mean? NOTHING, besides dropping down in the draft order and maybe missing out on the game changer.
Yeah, many people don't have this philosophy. Call me a bad fan, whatever you want, I don't care--all I saw today was a slide down in the draft because this season is washed up anyway. Anyway, many, many people do think the way I do, but don't have the stones to say it.
Enjoy your worthless, damaging good for nothing win.

You have to be kidding. You are the worst kind of fan. Go fook yourself. There were many positives today and you want to strip it away by talking draft. Grow the fook up.

Screw the draft position....win out is my attitude.
Learning to close out games and win is more important than a draft pick position.
-
Soju, you need to be called offside for that remark man - you have to win - it wasn't the last game of the season at 0-15! C'mon, you really think that they should just walk out there and run away from the ball and hope next year gets better, get real- it upsets me that a Browns fan can think that way.
-
A Browns win is always good.
Bottom line.
-
Just win, baby.
"Tanking for draft position" is something that might have been useful in an earlier version of Madden, but not in real life. The "game changers" can come from ANY draft position.
The Ravens found their downfield threat.. at the end of the second round, pick 58.
The Texans found their perennial All-Pro MLB ryans.. at the top of the second round.
And on and on. Tanking for draft position is stupid, because the negative effect in the locker room of deliberately losing far, far outweighs the positives of drafting 1-3 picks higher. Yes, I want Blackmon - but if he's gone at pick 2 which isn't implausible, we had no chance at him anyway.
-
I am very happy to see so many people on here that just want to win! HELL YEAH I am happy they won! My monday is better when the Browns win on Sunday! I am tired of coming on here an seeing people bitch because they lose one week and then bitch because they win the next week! WTF?!?!?!?!? Really?!
-
I'm happy about the win because I wanted to see Colt do his thing. With good protection and a decent running game Colt McCoy will be a very good QB.
-
There are good players available in every round of the draft, the key is picking the right ones. The Browns have not done a good job of picking players since they've returned to the league. Technically speaking, the Browns still have a "chance" at making a wildcard spot, though I just don't see you guys winning out. In terms of winning/draft order, finishing 8-8 or 9-7 would be better for the overall health of the club moreso than 3-4 spots higher in the draft.

EXACTLLY CORRECT A higher draft isn't a guarantee of getting a good player. Think Courtny Brown, Gerrard Warren, Tim Couch.............. They were all top 5 picks and they all sucked

Key words are PRIDE & CONFIDENCE. I like the pride these young men are showing & they need wins for confidence. With the kind of pride these players are showing, we'll be ok. They just never quit. The draft will be what it will be, but I sure won't hope for any losses.

Yup, the Steelers have had relatively low picks because they were good. Care to see what they did? Pola-mumu 16th, Timmons 15th, Hampton 19th, Mendenhall 22nd, Woodley 46th second round, Wallace third round, Harrison- undrafted.
Aaron Rodgers slid down to the 20 or so pick, Dan Marino was the last player taken in the first round.
Notice a trend there? IMHO finally with Heckert calling the shots and an eye for talent, we may catch up- but it probably will take another year or two. So don't go crying over a few lost draft spots.
And in case you didn't notice with TWO first round picks, the Browns certainly have the ammunition to move up in the first round, should they choose to do so.
Like you said, how many times have the Browns drafted in the top five over the last 12 years, and totally blown the pick?
-
It IS comforting that the Browns now have folks conducting the draft who actually KNOW talent. We'll be ok.

4-6 team with building confidence from all aspects of the franchise. Two fluke plays away from being 6-4. This is prob the same tool that cheered every game the cavs lost to get James how'd that work?
U want my opinion Browns 21-Bungles 18. I want to draft behind atlanta's spot!
