So Ghoolie, with you worldly wise knowledge, could you try to explain how, the San Diego Chargers are managing to stay in alongside the Browns for Draft position, Whilst having Pro Bowl QB,WR,TE and 1st Rd RB and still manage to lose just as many games as the Browns. To me it shows sometimes that having the weapons doesn't always mean you are going to Win games, It can come down to good coaching and play calling and the odd bit of luck now and then. I will though say the vast difference between the 4-7 Chargers & the 4-7 Browns is all there for everyone to see. but just wondered what your thoughts were in regards the Chargers and their wealth of Talent on Offence not being enough to Win.

Talent means little when your QB(Rivers) has more int's then TD's. Just like an average QB can have an all star type of year(Anderson 4yrs ago) a all star QB can have a bad yr.

Norv Turner is a choker. And will no longer be the HC of the Chargers after this year. And shouldn't be.

Who should replace him? The Usual Suspects? Past SB winners Gruden, Cowher, Billick. How about SoCal native Jeff Fisher? What asst. coaches? Rob Ryan could join Rex as an HC and do the Harbaugh brother thing. Brian Schottenheimer?Any other nepotism coaches?

How about this one: if Nick Saban wins another national title at Bama, he goes back to the pros with SD? The second time around at the NFL HC position is sometime much better. Ask Bill Belichick.

If Jack Del Rio gets canned by Jax, he could go to SD.

          Russ Grimm?

Gregg Williams, former Bills coach, now at New ORleans under Payton?

thanks for the obvious, you forgot to mention the unobvious, Rivers has a hidden injury and Turner is a crappy coach

and Gipper thanks for good astute observations

              Nice try, but no cigar.

First off, let me say this. No team is exempt from Human frailty. THere are no guarantees against having a shit season.

The Chargers are a MUCH, MUCH better team than the Browns, IF we played them ten games this year, they would beat us ten times.

This is a team that should have gotten to teh SB with as much talent as they have. What you don't want to face in your impotent attempt to debate me with success, is that this season is UNUSUAL for the Chargers. Call it an off year, a down year, whatever you want, but it happens.

The Browns? Can you tell me any Browns QB in the past 12 years that can boast the playoff success and wins that this RIVERS charged Chargers team has? Ahhhhh, I thought not.

Here is the difference, this season is not going to happen again for the Chargers. This caliber season WILL HOEVER happen for the Browns again in 2012. This caliber season for the Chargers IS UNUSUAL, but for the Browns? It is EXACTLY what the best experts predicted in 2010........... me being that expert.

Enter Norv Turner. As I watched the game and cussed Norv Turner as being even a dumber bastard than Marty, Rich insisted Turner would find a way to lose. LMAO, damned if he didn't.

You're analogy is a bad one. Teams with the talent level of San Diego don't often have losing seasons. The Chargers will be just fine. They will finish with a better record than the Browns, AND they will make it back to the playoffs BEFORE the Browns do.

              I'll bet 1,000 against 100.

I dunno. Methinks the Chargers could very well be on a major downhill slide. Now, a new coach for them could turn it around, because I believe you are right. Overall they do have better talent.

But then: we don't know how good the Browns talent is either because by all indices our coach makes Norv Turner look like Vince Lombardi incarnate.

Phillip Rivers playoff record is not all that great, although I would trade being in the playoffs most every year and losing early rather than not making the playoffs at all.

I didn't say anything about the Steelers or Patriots OL or their injuries. I was commenting on Philip Rivers playoff record which isn't that great. It's actually better than I thought. He's 3-4 in his career in the playoffs. Which again I would trade for in a heartbeat.

I can't argue with your logic. If I am being honest and I think you would agree if we took the fastest WRs for example against the slowest, the 40 yd and 100 yard difference in finish times would be miniscule, compared to you or I running the race. There is something in between a man's ears and in his heart that makes him stand out from so many with similar physical skills.

That seems to be the real talent ingredient we don't have; that is to say, leaders who can inspire players to be better than they are on paper.

If I am being honest again, it's sad to see this team getting kicked around so much.

WHen will someone who actually gives a shit get hired in the Browns FO?

I don't know whether or not we have these leaders on this team. At least, they have not yet emerged if they are there.

As far as our FO giving a shit...I don't think it is a matter of not giving a shit. Its more a question of capability.

In terms of Heckert, I will say that I think he has definitely increased the talent level on this team with his choices......which demonstrates how devoid of talent this team was before he got here.
