Let's Get Ready To Rumble! Colt Mccoy Vs. Robert Griffin Iii

The Browns Board

  • RG3 is going to kill it at the combine. He'll run a 4.3-4.4 40, show accurate clean throws,a laser for an arm and even score high on the Wonderlic. He's going to be so hyped up I think it's a lock the Skins or Phins trade up to #2 to grab him.

The Browns will stick with McCoy and trade down from the #4 spot.

i agree 100% he wont make it to #4

  • Now the Jeff Fisher was named HC at St.Louis....I gotta believe RG3 is his guy.

Thank you- He'll see a more athletic version of Steve McNair. He'll have to dump Bradford in the process- so the question becomes- what is Bradford worth to the Browns?

I have an opinion- but I'll shut up for the moment. 🙂

Im sure at this point Bradford means nothing but trade value for him (Fisher) at this point. Now are the Browns interested in parting with thier 22nd pick to get Bradford.

  • Nice...a new topic!

First, that article sucked ass. I've seen more persuasive posts in this forum...

My first reaction was "after getting burned by Vince Young?" Did not even think about McNair... In that light, yeah I can see Jeff going for RG.

As for Bradford coming our way... not feeling that on a leadership or a toughness level. I get kind of a "Phipps vibe" off Bradford... I prefer the "Sipe vibe" I get from Colt.

    Waitin' on your thoughts, hoorta...

  • Vince young is dumb and inaccurate....RGIII seems very smart and very accurate.

  • What I think is funny is that people that are pro McCoy and anti RGIII talk about how he played in the big 12 and put up gaudy numbers in a system setting against bad teams. Oh the irony because Colt McCoy literally is in the same boat, but for some reason Colt gets a pass? If you don't like Colt or RGIII that's fine, but you can't sit there and bring up the Big 12 and system QB's and then support Colt in the same breath.

so if we already have the one guy who in your mind is the same as the other guy, then why use the #4 pick on the other guy?

    am i missing your point?????????

  • yeah and he also said if picked #1 by indy he'd gladly sit behind peyton manning for how ever long.

which tells me either he's complacent and doesn't want to come into the league as a starter OR (IMO) he's just another dude looking for that first pick paycheck.

    This.

Get rid of myths and stereotypes with this guy.

Both parents in the military, well-traveled and educated.

Has a degree in Political Science from Baylor. Graduated in December, 2010, at age 20. Currently working on his Masters in Communication

    Dean's List.

    Academic All-big 12

Graduated 7th in his High School class.

Yes, Michael Vick is dumb as a box of rocks and had no male role model growing up and it shows. Yes, Vince Young is dull-minded and inaccurate.

That has nothing to do with Robert Griffin.

Warren Moon is in the Hall of Fame and Donovan McNabb played in 5 NFC championship games ... this guy is a better athlete and more polished prospect coming out of college than both of them.

Actually, it might help to not think of him as black and more of a mix of John Elway and Steve Young if that helps.

Yes, he could still fall on face, but it won't be for lack of smarts or discipline.

    Zombo

How the hell did Warren Moon get in the hall of fame?...I dont remember him setting any records or winning any super bowls unless he was just a token selection so the NFL was not accused for not having a black QB in the HOF.

    9× Pro Bowl selection (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997)

    3× All-Pro selection (1988, 1989, 1990)

    5× Grey Cup champion (66th, 67th, 68th, 69th, 70th)

2001 Enshrined on Eskimos' Wall of Fame

    1990 NEA NFL MVP

1990 NFL Offensive Player of the Year

1990 UPI AFL-AFC Player of the Year

    1989 Man of the Year

    1998 Pro Bowl MVP

    2× Grey Cup MVP (1980, 1982)

    49,325 yards passing, 291 TDs

It's Pro Football Hall of Fame, so they took into consideration his CFL contributions ... but the 50,000 yards passing... that's in the NFL.

He was pretty damn good. Marino didn't win a Super Bowl either ... team game.

    Zombo

I know, I liked Warren Moon too,,I just dont see how the CFL has any relationship to the NFL career he had.

I agree with you. Even the people, like myself, who want to stick with colt and pass on RGIII aren't sold on Colt as a franchise quarterback but realize that the weapons on offense are the Browns most pathetic position groups and we could make the most strides in that regard. Again at that Big 12 agrument, Colt had a prolific career in the Big 12 and has not done much in the NFL, yet you want to take RGIII who has had even less success in the same conference?

no no all my point is that you can't just make that statement which is a fair point when the guy we have now is literally from the same background. I could argue with you why RGIII is a lot better, which frankly I don't have the time now, but I still have my doubts based on all that. I'm just saying don't talk about how the Big 12 is an offense system conference against RGIII and act like McCoy didn't have the same thing going for him.

  • i gotcha jrb. they both are from the same conference but you'll agree are worlds apart in skill and talent given their style differences. AND yeah it would take forever to pick apart one or the other's pluses and minuses seeing as one is in the nfl and one is not. one was the 2nd winningest qb in collge football history. one can run, one can't. so on and so on.

we can do this dance all the way until hell freezes over but no one can deny that the browns need many many positions filled with this draft and qb isn't one of them.

Or he would value being mentored by one of the best QBs to ever play the game. Maybe he thinks he could learn something from him......

  • Zombo said:

    It doesn't.

It has a relationship to the Pro Football Hall of Fame though.

As for his NFL resume by itself, here's a list of players who threw for more NFL yards than Warren Moon:

    1. Bret Favre

    2. Dan Marino

    3. Peyton Manning

    4. John Elway

That's it, that's the whole list.

When he retired he was #3, now he's #5

    That's pretty impressive...

    Zombo

And if you add his CFL stats with his NFL stats, he beats out Farve.
