  • Tom Brady is, once again, in position to win a Super Bowl. If he and the Patriots do it, that would be 4 titles brought home by him. If he does he would join only 5 other players in the history of football to be the QB of at least 4 championship teams. The following is the class that he is attempting to join:

Sid Luckman QBed title teams in 1940, 41, 43, and 1946

    Otto Graham QBed title teams in 1946, 47, 48, 49, 50, 54, 1955

    Bart Starr QBed title teams in 1961, 62, 65, 66, 1967

Terry Bradshaw QBed title teams in 1974, 75, 78, 1979

Joe Montana QBed title teams in 1981, 84, 88, 1989

Others that came close with 3 title teams QB include:

    Troy Aikman

    John Unitas

    Bobby Layne

    Arnie Herber

    and of course Brady

  • If the Patriots win the title then Bill Belichick will join an elite group of coaches that have won 4 or more titles that include:

    Guy Chamberlain

    Curly Lambeau

    George Halas

    Paul Brown

    Vince Lombardi

    Chuck Noll

From what I am able to calculate, the only coaches to have won 3 titles are:

    Joe Gibbs

    Weeb Ewbank

    Bill Walsh

    and Belichick

There are some "dynasties out there that were accomplished with 2 different coaches including the 90s Cowboys with Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer, the 70s/80s Raiders with John Madden and Tom Flores, the 50s Lions with Buddy Parker and George Wilson

  • Needless to say, everyone mentioned in the above lists are in the HOF....except Brady and Belichick.

  • What does this tell us than. What volumes of information can we gleen from Brady and Belichick's offense?

  • If the Patriots win the title then Bill Belichick will join an elite group of coaches that have won 4 or more titles that include:

What I like about Gibbs is he did it with 3 different QB's. It shows he could put together a winner with different personnel which i think is a bit tougher than putting together a top team and then going a streak for 7-8 yrs.

Nearly every "dynasty" that is spoken of was accomplished with the same coach and same QB, going back to Sid Luckman and George Halas, OG and PB, Starr/Lombardi, Noll/Bradshaw.

Walsh/Montana did win 3, then George Seifert came in and won one with Joe Cool. The 1994 Steve Young title is really not part of the dynasty.

The 70s/80s Raider did win, as I say, with 2 different QBs and 2 different HCs, though Plunkett and Flores were together for two.

Aikman won with both JJ and Barry Switzer.

But Brady/Belichick fits that one QB on coach mold.
