Cleveland Curse Strikes San Francisco

  • The Cleveland Curse has struck again, only this time in San Francisco, where their special teams gave the NFC Championship game to the New York Giants. Interesting that San Fransisco had excellent special teams all season long. Brad Seely is a great coach, but it was his unit that fumbled two punt returns to give the Giants 10 points. Typical of the Cleveland Curse, it lays dormant all season long and then strikes in Championship games.

On a side note, Alex Smith will never make it to the Super Bowl. WTF was he doing in the waning minutes of the game?

  • Looks to me like it struck where it belongs. With 'modell's team'

  • San Francisco won 5 Super Bowls, Clevaland has yet to get to one. I fail to see how SF caught a so-called "Cleveland" Curse.

  • that's because you're an idiot.

  • So when a team loses their conference championship game, its the Cleveland curse?

  • It wasn't their special teams it was their punt returner along that lost it.

which is part of the special teams unit, which is coached by Brad Seely, who is in his first year in San Francisco after coaching special teams in Cleveland.

Certainly. No curse. Cleveland has 13 titles. SF only 5. Every town should want to be cursed with 13 championships....only Cleveland and Green Bay have that many.

I suspect they are only saying that because both teams that lost yesterday did it in fairly spectacular fashion with having certain players and the team blow things the way the Browns did with the Fumble/Drive/Red Right 88. etc.

  • Yeah that's really the only reason, that and the 49ers have Cleveland's old ST coach and ST lost the game for them.

Oh right. Where do they keep our thirteen trophies?

  • So SF's WR who fumbled the ball and let the ball hit his knee was because of the "Cleveland Curse"? What if Ted Ginn Jr was in the game (who happened to be replaced by Williams) and didn't fumble or touch the ball he shouldn't have? Would the "Cleveland Curse" still have happened or would it have been twice as bad cause Ginn is from Cleveland? LMFAO....Come one!

  • Good point. Ginn, their best returner, from Cleveland, was out for the game. Cleveland Curse in action.

I don't know. Perhaps in the stadium, perhaps in Berea, perhaps nowhere.

    Do the trinkets matter?

The titles are there in history. Northeast Ohio has won 13 titles.

Is this just news to you? It is a fact that is only 90 years in the making. (But, if you must know, the years that titles were won by NE Ohio teams were 1920, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1954, 1955, 1964).

  • SF special teams are head and heels above the browns' unit. i'd take seely back in half a heartbeat.

san fran has aq couple of divas on that team that don't know when to shut it. vernon davis great TE but what a self-centered cunt. after winning the game the week before it was all about him in his interviews. then he catches a td pass sunday and jumps on the camera pedestal. the kick returner denied ever having the ball touch his knees when the replays being broadcast on the jumbotron for everyone to see that it did. fuck 'em both. glad they lost. harbaugh didn't have the courtesy to congratulate an old coach and then dodged the postgame interview by fox. that team is going to implode on themselves. mark my word.

    a cleveland curse though? no.

  • special teams the cleveland curse?

yeah, that's all that has held your team back for the past 20yrs...............special teams.

    lol

No, with us it is ownership.

What has held you back for the past 20 years?

Might as well be 1764 for all the relevance it has now

What is your point? Perhaps nothing prior to the last nanosecond of your life span has any relevence now. Why would a thread called "Cleveland Curse strikes San Fran" have any relevency in any fashion unless it is viewed with an eye toward history.

In all reality, the ONLY NFL title that has any relevency is this next one. Otherwise, they are ALL history, be it the one from 1920 or the one from 2010. They are all just another brick in the wall. Learn something about that wall, lest it come toppling down on your head.

i'm surprised they allow internet access in the rubber rooms of bellevue.

  • How very poetic, however in 2012 tom bradys superbowls have 1000 times the relevance of Otto grahams championships."Learn something about that wall lest it come toppling down on your head" give me a fucking break were not discussing the ramifications of the civil war here, you're trying to imply championships, some of them not even in the NFL, won in a time when there was hardly integration in the NFL and the few who did play had to drink out of a seperate fountain, are still as relevant as the super bowl era. That is ludicrous.
