Once upon a time a GM did this deal where he traded like a 6th round pick for a 5th round pick in the following draft. Then the next year he traded that 5th rounder for a 4th rounder...and kept going until eventually I think he actually, 4-5 years down the road ended up with a first round pick. This happened back in the 80s I believe.

I think this guy was trolling us.

    1) Edwards was cut this year by the 49ers - and they still need a WR opposite Lobsterbush. That's how bad Edwards is (and always was, really) - he was signed to fill a need that the team still has, but was so putrid they cut him.

    2) Richardson at 4 is insane. Given Joe Thomas, Kalil at 4 to Cleveland is also insane. Neither will happen.

    3) Jeffrey isn't anywhere near Blackmon - Wright/Floyd are both above Jeffrey on all draft boards. I'm also not against Sanu in the second if we go RT at 22 [eg, if DeCastro or Adams(OSU) or Martin slip] after RG3 at 4. Randle (LSU) is right there with Jeffrey/Sanu. Yes, that Mike Adams - he's t20 on most boards after dominating the Senior Bowl, t15 on some.

I totally agree on your first two points, but Alshon is easily the number two WR on the board behind Blackmon. Talent wise, he's probably even ahead of Blackmon, but Blackmon is more polished and closer to a "sure thing".

Wright/Floyd are above Jeffery only because Sourh Carolina struggled with QB's this season, which ultimately affected Alshon. Had Alshon been able to come out earlier, you would have seen him as an easy top 10 pick. But he gained weight in the offseason and then Steven Garcia decided to be garbage. His numbers aren't a fair representative of his stats because not only did he have a bad quarterback, he had to compete with future Heisman winner Marcus Lattimore and was in Spurrier's Cock N' Fire offense that featured more bubble screens to slot guys than passes to Alshon. He truly was their big play receiver and that's all he was used for.

These top corners everybody is drooling over are the very same corners Alshon beat week in and week out. His highlight reel has them looking like high schoolers. Floyd/Blackmon/Wright can't say that. They didn't play the same quality of defenses that Alshon has succeeded against.

He's got the most talent and upside of any receiver this draft, he's just not as polished as the rest. He is the true downfield threat we've all been asking for for years. He'd be a steal if he were there at 22, but I can guarantee he won't be.

I'm sorry I know that Braylon hasn't played to his potential and was cut by the 9ers. But you can't call him a bust as a draft pick by the Browns for what he does after he leaves the team. It's irrelevant. Point taken, however.

  • IF we go WR in free agency, a guy I really like is Brandon Lloyd. I think he's one of the more underrated guys in the league and has some of the surest hands in the league. He's not a breakout guy sure, but he would give a good chance for Little to show if he has the potential to breakout or not. Not to mention I don't see him yielding a gigantic contract

  • Do we need a ProBowler on the Right side, you betcha we do. Would I draft Kalil if given the chance and put him there for that purpose? Yes I would. Would I draft Richardson without fixing the Rightside first? I still would. We won't get Kalil but if we had the choice of Kalil or Richardson and I had to pick one... It would be Kalil. But if Kalil is gone it wouldn't stop me from drafting Richardson. I wouldn't pass on Chase more than once, we'll be lucky if he's there at 22. If he is, pull the trigger. Two shutdown corners and the Browns go to top 5 in total defense in 2012.

yeah if we also get a DE to play the right side and a throw in a couple of LBs while you're at it and maybe even another safety. then we can talk top 5.

It's better to be smart and and patient than bashful and naive. We need to be smart with our picks, and if we don't get the player we feel best represents the value of the spot, we should trade down and get more picks rather than picking a player (who may not even be worth it), just cause.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • Exactly. Belichick is a genius.

Lloyd did pretty well with the Rams, with people like Kellen Clemens, his stats were not so bad. almost 1000 yards recieving playing with the Broncos (4 games 4 starts) and the Rams (11 games 10 starts) passing games is solid production.

I actually want to 49ers to try and get him. I doubt he'll command too much money, and for a year or two, could be quite the steal.

  • Richardson IS a can't miss talent... sorry but it IS FACT. When you have someone who totes the rock the way he totes it, it don't matter who you're running it against- he's gonna win. The kid has VISION, SPEED, STRENGTH, ELUSIVENESS, CATCHING ABILITY, AND HE'S GOT LOW MILEAGE!!! You can't ask for anything better.. Oh wait, I forgot he's under 6 foot tall! That's bad you might say, well technically, no it isn't! He shorter and harder to find behind a Big OL. By the time a defense recognizes he has the ball it'll be too little to late and he'll be long gone. He gonna be better than even Ray Rice. Ravens have the formula, Rice and Williams. Well, if we play our cards right we'll 1up them by marching out Richardson and Hillis- and if that happens...LOOK OUT!

He reminds me of a ray rice type of back. Smaller quick and runs with power, but I agree with most of the posters on here that I don't see the browns taking him with the 4th. I think it'd be awesome if he lasted till the 22nd pick tho.

  • i love the game, am intense and desire to always win.

does this mean i can play football? Choco

    ***************************************

    No.😠

But coaching an elite talent who doesn't give a frak, like Edwards, and coaching

another elite talent who has that fire, the intense desire to win, and LOVES the game......

coaching can't make up the difference.

In fact, I'd say that the player with the desire and intensity can often be far more productive

    even with less physical talent.

It's a very rough game of emotion. Without that emotion, you have a Cluckett. A warren.

Kosar wasn't an elite physical talent, @@.....

but his intensity, work ethic, and drive to win, and his qb intelligence made him a great one for the Browns.

BTW, I heard Bernie Kosar on the radio the other day - he was laughing about his forty time. He said it was

5.2... in the thirty.... He said his time with the ten yard dash was pretty darn good though.... but after that

    he got winded.... LOL

I heard that too and it was hilarious...I love Bernie even if he always sounds as if he'd just downed a 5th of jack lol

  • If Blackmon is gone by the time we pick ( maybe even if he is there, I will wait for the combine to judge this) I want to trade back and catch Wright. He is exactly what we need on this offense, someone that can get over the top very fast, demanding that the defense play the whole field rather than just pinning back their ears and taking shots at us on the 4-5 yard patterns while stuffing the run. With the added bonus of making the offense 3 dimensional it gives us ammunition to pick up a very good player at LB or DE, taking our defense that much closer to being a really good one

With a good speed receiver (or any real receiver threat) our o-line magically looks better all over, while our running backs actually get to the line of scrimmage before seeing contact, making them look better. and suddenly Colt has more time to throw to our now more open receivers, who are now getting YAC because the D isn't just sitting on the short routes waiting for their next victim.

I hate the idea of picking a RB in the first simply because it does not make the defenses change the way they play us, it just invites the defense in for more stuffing the run and taking shots at the short routes. And getting Colt III at #4 is just a waste when we already have a mobile BIG12 shotgun QB who put up great looking numbers in college, that we happened to pick up in the 3rd and is cheap as hell to play.

  • wright's problem is his size....he doesn't make a very big target.

he is just a little smaller than Wallace at almost the same weight and speed, and Wallace seems to be doing fine. I really think what he brings to the table is a dimension to this offense that we don't have making us all around better.
