Trent has more ability and talent then AP? Wow just wow.

A lot of scouts say that TR is the best running back since Barry Sanders. I don't see it though.

Honestly Barry Sanders is probably a better comparison. They both have/had that ability to bounce off tackles. Trent isn't as shifty as Sanders but I see more Sanders in Trent then AP.

lol this is getting ridiculous. Aside from durability and being a better receiver out of the backfield, give me one trait of TR's thats better than AP's.

Out of college, Adrian Peterson was measured at 6'1 1/2' with a 4.40 40-time and explosiveness that you never find in a big back. That, and he ran through linebackers and safeties like they were nothing. He was absolutely unreal in college, he should have won the heisman his soph year before the injury. I like Trent, but as an NFL prospect, he's not as good as AP.

Hell, as a prospect, McFadden was better than Trent.

I was defending AP my man. And he should've won the Heisman his freshman year. Less then a hundred yards short of 2000 while missing 1 or 2 games. He ended up second in the Heisman because freshman aren't supposed to win.

  • you got to be insane to pick a running back at #4. big Fing deal he did this and that. how has peterson led the vikes to the SB?

  • Some of you are sooo silly... are you telling me you wouldn't draft Jim Brown with the #4 overall? Get REAL!

So now you think Richardson has Jim Brown potential? Wow, you've been drinking the Trent Kool-aid heavily I see. FWIW, I'm old enough to have seen Jim Brown play many times- in person, and I've seen virtually all of his highlights. Trent isn't even in the discussion. In fact the only modern runner that had a chance to equal the great JB was Bo Jackson- before he got hurt. Bo had enough power to run over people- his steamrolling Brian Bosworth is classic, and until this year I had no idea how fast he was. Richardson can run a 4.4? Big whoop. Bo at 230 pounds was clocked at 4.15 second fastest (to Darrell Green) in the history of the NFL when they were able to track hundredths in a 40 time.

tell me you don't get chills imagining him in the orange and browns doing this to the Steelers and Ravens TWICE a year and shoving a stiff arm down the Bengals throat. With Trent Richardson, Colt continuing to grow and the Development of our WR corp and the shoring up the right side of the OL(Pashos is already gone- Thank God), the Browns have a real shot at sweeping the division!

Know what I saw in the video of Richardson? Another Ray Rice. Drafted in the second round FYI.

Finally, more than ever it's a quarterback league. Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Ladanian Tomlinson, and Jim Brown combined don't have as many championship rings as Joe Montana.

Regarding Colt- I'm afraid he's "grown" about as much as he can. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the more astute of us here sure have- H&H going after RGIII, and now with rumors circulating about Flynn- that should SCREAM to you the Browns have given a big no-confidence vote to Mr. McCoy.

  • I'm tired of hearing how much of a workout animal this kid is. We're not drafting him to workout. I don't give a shit if you can't bench more than 200 lbs...if you can ball, you can ball.

His on the field play isn't anything stellar. Most of his big hits are on defensive backs. He's not going to be half as effective in the NFL as he was in college, and most of his effectiveness in college was due to the fact he was playing for Alabama. He was outshone by his backup a couple times, just as he outshone Mark Ingram. Alabama has a very run-friendly system, RB's are flourishing there.

  • I never was high on taking Richardson but the more i think about it, i dont think id mind much if they took him. I think him touching the ball 20+ times per game would greatly reduce the pressure off of McCoy and on top of that i think our play action game could finally become effective.

  • I am really curious what people want the Browns to draft position-wise.

The mention of taking a RB at #4 after losing our starter in Hillis makes sense (minus the fact that Richardson was injured during the combine).

Then comes the option of Blackmon, but then people say it is silly to take a WR that high. OK... So, we will stick with SlowMoMass and Little?...

The only player I don't hear people get pissed about is Morris Claiborne... I appreciate the value of having he and Haden, but don't we need to score points to win games?

Are you going to tell me that Tannehill is a #4 pick?... I doubt it.

We have Dawson to score points, don't need anyone else 🙂

  • #4- Trent Richardson

#22- Kendall Wright, Stephen Hill, or Donta Hightower

    #37- Best OL/Chase Minnifield

OK, I can live with that- but I can about guarantee you the Browns are not taking Richardson @ #4. We'll go RB shopping in the second round just like we did with Hardesty (hopefully no walking ER this time).

See below, and compare Richardson's COLLEGE highlights to this guys PRO highlights. Pay attention to about the 27 second mark. NO comparison.

Bo was doing this against NFL caliber guys- running them over, or outrunning NFL corners when he couldn't run them over- not guys who will be sitting at home watching the NFL on TV Sundays.

Plenty of decent backs have come out of the second round lately- Jones-Drew and Ray Rice for starters. People don't think Blackmon is worth the #4 overall- however Calvin Johnson sure was worth the #2.

Caliborne is certainly the best talent after the two qbs, and would give the Browns their best starting tandem there since Minnifield and Dixon. But the Eagles and Jets didn't make the playoffs- and they both happen to have two stud CBs. Just sayin'.

Missing out on RGIII royally screwed the Browns as far as taking a qb. #4 is way too high to take Tannehill, and even if (big IF) the Browns could find someone willing to trade up to #4 and drop down into the mid first round, Tanehill won't get past the Dolpins, Seahawks, or Chiefs who are drafting in the 10 range.

Don't you read any of the threads I have put on here? A High pick RB is less of a risk than a high pick QB.

i agree. but i still wouldn't pick him at #4.

if i were heckert i would take claiborne or trade down and get the best DE. then WR. then LB. RT. RB. then whatever.

someone mentioned the jets and eagles not making the playoffs with their talent at the CB position. i'll guarantee you the eagles defense will play better this year after having a year of learning to play together. jets just suck.

with all due respect, likelihood of drafting a HOFer may not be the best metric for determining when to draft a position. i cant fathom lower rounds turning out HOFers at any position more often than 1sts.....

a HOFer would be nice, but we just need players. success and a HOF career are not mutually exclusive.

Again, to me, the big question is the "Bust" factor vs. the success factor when you are drafting that high. Here are the RBs taken in the Top 10 picks of the draft for the past 20 years:

    1 2010 1 9 C.J. Spiller RB BUF 2010 2011 0 0 1 4 30 181 844 4 63 426 3 Clemson

Now, there are a few busts in there...stay away from Penn St. RBs, but the fact is that most of these guys had pretty outstanding careers...so the success rate amongst RBs taken that high seems to be good.....better than for QBs.

  • At 4: The choice now is Blackmon or Claiborne. Richardson shouldn't be a part of it - I'd trade a 3rd for Tate in a heartbeat.

    At 22:

a If they don't get Winston from Houston in FA: Mike Adams.

b If they don't get Blackmon or Winston: Stephen Hill [Wright ran a 4.65]

    At 37: Minnifield

  • If there is no trade with Tate, expect Richardson to be the pick.

I still don't buy this. Heckert has never spent a 1st round pick on a RB. We will draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

  • There is a first time for everything.
