How Do You Feel About The Fa So Far?

I disagree with D'qwell Jackson and Dimitri Patterson being overpaid, they have both proved, especially Jackson, that they deserve the money that they are being paid.
I think that the Browns definitely need to seek out more high-profile FAs (although not many realistic choices are left.)
I don't know why we franchised Phil Dawson AGAIN, but that's the only extreme misfire I can think of.

I forgot all about not signing Dawson. We can throw that in the bad moves pile.
I don't think we need big named FAs but I don't like the fact were happy signing peoples mediocre backups. Atleast its better than giving away a draft pick for jayme Mitchell so I guess there is a bright side

Has to be more to the story than that. On paper it is a dumb move not too, but there has to be more to it. Just like in Politics, you think Washington let's us know EVERYTHING that happens behind closed doors? Of course not, and neither do the Browns need to. We just have to hope that the FO's #1 goal is improving this team to a level that makes them competative enough to be in competition for a Super Bowl.
I don't know why people think Holmgren goes home and sits on a $50 million dollar pile of money throwing up in the air and wiping his ass with it. I think he has some self pride and an ego to not be competative. Hell, why would anyone be in the NFL if they weren't competative. The the man do his job, and let time tell, it always does.
I will say that the schedule has me worried that a 4-6 win season is again upon us. But you don't know what can happen. I think we have some good athletes on this team that if our coaching staff puts a playbook together that caters to strengths, we could possibly play. But we have to make some signings if FA or do something in the draft to help this team right now.
Not sure what is taking so long on Tate or Winston.. shoudl have been signed 2 days ago.

Squirmurs offensive playbook and gameplan will be more of a deciding factor as to rather the browns are competitive this year or not, we will have enough offensive talent to keep things close and even win some if it is utilized correctly but squirmur most certainly isnt even close to the brightest bulb in the nfl OC/HC pack, as a matter of fact he is an incandescent bulb in a pack of ecosmart bulbs so i wouldnt bank on things looking any different other than squirmur will likely burn out fast and leave cleveland singing "i did it my way" and lost my job, rather than actually having to step out of his own non personnel matching vanilla plan to try and win with what he has until he can get the players he wants and needs to make his plan work..
Its not always that a team has no talent on the field as it is far more often that the talent on the field has no leadership, organization or proper utilization of their abilities for which they were drafted, this is why coaches and trainers get fired when they fail to make things work with what they have been given by the GM, and to make it worse in the browns case the lack of leadership, organization and direction starts all the way at the top and trickles down..

Not really surprised at our lack of movement in FA. I don't feel real great about this coming year but then again I never feel real great about an upcoming year. At this point if we can get a few legit weapons and a few starters from this years draft I'll feel a bit better. That's a big if of course.

I really think this is the last year of this FO. They look like the nerdy kids that are trying too hard for someone to play with them.
Bad moves
D. Patterson- WAY over-payed for a below average player
D. Jackson- Over-payed, but atleast he has production
B. Schaffering- If he didnt play for the Browns than he wouldnt be in the NFL
J. Greco- Depth
J. Parker- Old, undersized, not very productive. Atleast we didnt break the bank.
No moves
P. Manning- Im not saying that he would have signed here, but it looks like your happy losing if you say you wont atleast look into it.
P. Hillis- Letting the most productive offensive weapon we have walk is plain stupid. When he signs for 3 mil to be a back up for a medicore team, the FO needs to resign

I have 0 confidence in this FO. They sign 2 backup DEs that will combine for 7 mil against the cap, when we could have signed a proven pass rusher for the same price. (Carter and Abraham)
We have plenty of cap space so these signings wont kill us, but I dont see the commitment to winning that they H&H keep preaching about.

I would argue Evan Moore is the best on the team but having a TD per 6 plays that he was on the fieild total last year doesn't speak volumes to our front office.

Our lack of activity in the FA does not surprise me. But the # of holes in the team and the lack of quality is what worries me. This is what year 3 of the Holmgren project? And we are weaker than we started. That is the sign of a team going backwards esp when we are already so back.I dont see progress and that is what worries me. We are shopping smart and bargain shopping but we need quality too. Where is it? I can forgive Holmgren for not finding a QB in his 3 year term, butwe have no QB, no established WR and our TE's are project too. Now our RB is gone. The inability of an offensive minded person to find such vital offensive pieces for three years truly worries me.
If I was a season ticket holder, I would not renew my season ticket. That money can go towards more noble things like charity or beer or women.

Neither excited nor disappointed with our FA effort so far...
Stud FA's are out for paydays and rings. So we have to first build a reason for them to want to come to CLE. Then they will come.
And you build through the draft.
