Tannehill At 4 ?

The Browns Board

  • I don't think there is enough teams who are desparate for a qb to make a team grab him that high. No way in hell we get him at 4.

McShay says Browns better fit for Tannehill, Kiper disagrees and says Blackmon/Richardson.

Dolphins are a better fit. Clairborne is a better fit for us, cos we have a DC who has actually done something last year.

  • NO!!!!!!! I agree with Kiper on this one.

  • tomorrow we are going to hear that the colts should reconsider and maybe take Tannehill at number #1 and the Redskins must not be able to sleep now nowing the MyCock believes he is the next coming of Tebow and they could have not thrown away 2 xtra first rounders because they could have just stayed put at #6 and gotten the glorious Tannehill. All praise Tanehill the previously concussed bruised and battered WR who just shredded the almighty northwestern offense. Now Kirk Cousins is a prospect; smart, plays in cold weather, fairly accurate...week arm cause he hasn't lifted a single weight in his life...we can fix that...plus we can pick him up after we are done stocking our shelves with bigger needs.

  • i'd take cousins in a second over tannehill.

    They're pretty similar.

In that they are both quarterbacks?

    I'd say that resembles RGIII?

That also resembles Brady Quinn 😒

  • All I know is I want this kid's PR staff. They are amazing. This guy assembles a year and a half's worth of marginal tape, then goes three months without throwing a pass and suddenly, he's a top 10 pick? There is nothing about his kid that says he's anything but a long shot. He's got a slow draw, cycles through his reads... He's got a long way to go.

  • Cousins is far closer to being ready to step up and become

a wc offense qb. He would be in the second round.

    It's either Blackmon or Richardson.

And after watching Richardson on his pro day - it's Richardson, I think.

I'd think Blackmon and Martin.... or Richardson and Hill/whatshisname from ND @@.

This draft is going to be crazy. 😵

The WR from N.D. your thinking of is Floyd. IMO i think hes the best WR in the draft, hes just had some off field issues that have teams concerned. I would absolutely love it if we got T.R. with #4 and somehow traded up from 22 to nab Floyd. I seriously doubt he lasts until our pick at 22.

Agree on Floyd... I've had him over Blackmon ever since the Combine.

Slow draw??? Ryan fires from his right shoulder. His release is very quick.

And I thought cycling through read progressions was a good thing everywhere except the Derrick Anderson School of Quarterbacking.

Do agree that he is still raw. Given that he was only a starter for 1.5 years, that's not surprising. But it's the level of his performance with such limited experience that makes his upside potential so tantalizing.

Point is not who is closer now... it is who will be closer in 2013 and beyond.

Agree... it is going to be a wild one...

I'm not pushing for us to take Tannehill. I would not spend a top ten on him. But the kid is good and has potential to be a very good NFL QB.

  • I like Tannehill.

If we like what we see when he works out, I wouldn't hesitate a moment to take him. The bottom line is until you have a QB, you have to keep looking for one. That trumps everything else. You are kidding yourself if you think better parts make a poor QB better. They don't.

I'd select the kid and if in a few years it looks like he isn't the answer, you do it all again.

Plus, for those who want to give Colt another shot....he'll get one. Tannehill won't start out of the gate, which is good. If Colt hits a stride, then we have some quality trade bate in a few years when we decide which guy we keep.

Also...we have another first rounder, so whichever QB gets selected, we will indeed be able to bring in some parts that will help fill the puzzle. This draft has loads of good receivers and backs. I could see us getting both Wright and Martin with our next two picks, then look for a RT in round 3 if indeed we can't manage to bring in a big body via free agency. There are still several good players to be had.

If we like Tannehill, he has to be the pick. There is no reason not to take him. Remember, this is about what the Browns think of the guy. Not what you or I think of him. If they like him, he's the pick.

By "slow draw," I mean it takes too long from decision to release. He strides into his throws. I takes him a while to throw his weight up on his front foot. And he actually over-does it. He's really front heavy when he throws in a free pocket.

And when I say "cycles" through his reads I'm talking about how long it takes him to process what he sees. You can see him read-process-read-process. It's not natural. It's not instinctive. Luck goes through reads like his skimming a McDonalds menu - he instantly knows what he's looking at. Tannehill progresses through reads like someone handed him the French menu... I mean he knows French, but he's still translating it in his head.

Overall, he does nothing to impress me as a first round pick.

  • At the end of the day, it dont matter whi is quarterbacking for us if they do not have weapons. We are in a rare position to take a top 3 wr and top 3 rb in the 1st round. They will draft a qb but not until the 3rd round or so. After all the shananagans with how they tried to get rg3 and inquired about Bradford, they have to come back to Colt with full support.

  • The best player on the board will be Richardson. If they take this stiff QB over him, Blackmon, or the CB, then I'm dropping my season tickets. No kidding.

I agree. Tannehill is a stiff and Richardson and Blackmon are game changers.

Yeah I'm hoping its going to be Richardson myself, as to me he seems the one that will be able to make an impact straight away and without needing too much help from others, Tannehill might be looking good, but he is an expensive project QB to waste a #4 on him, with those extra compensatory picks we have got, let Holmgren try and work a miracle out of a lower round QB, Weedon also would be a waste as would have to use 2nd round to get him, and I dont believe many think he is Franchise material. So go with Colt this year with the couple good weapons added to the mix, and come next year if Colt is still lacking what we want, then try and go all in again if the Franchise QB is there that is going to make the difference.
