Draft Position Of Hof Players

We talked about the possibility of the Browns trading down and someone said that we were as likely to get a Superstar...which I interpret as a Hall of Fame type player...lower in the first round as we would earlier in the first round. That thought intrigued me so I checked it out. Here are the Hall of Fame Player by Draft position. (this can include NFL/AFL and Supplemental drafts):

Free Agents: 15 (several WWII era black players the NFL wouldn't take, but which the AAFC did).
By all indications you do get a much better chance at a HOF player at the top of the draft, especially in the Top 6.

The point of this is to demonstrate that it appears far more likely that the Browns would be far more likely to obtain a Hall of Fame Caliber player by staying put at #4 rather than trading down lower in the draft.
