Draft Position Of Hof Players

The Browns Board

  • We talked about the possibility of the Browns trading down and someone said that we were as likely to get a Superstar...which I interpret as a Hall of Fame type player...lower in the first round as we would earlier in the first round. That thought intrigued me so I checked it out. Here are the Hall of Fame Player by Draft position. (this can include NFL/AFL and Supplemental drafts):

Free Agents: 15 (several WWII era black players the NFL wouldn't take, but which the AAFC did).

By all indications you do get a much better chance at a HOF player at the top of the draft, especially in the Top 6.

  • The point of this is to demonstrate that it appears far more likely that the Browns would be far more likely to obtain a Hall of Fame Caliber player by staying put at #4 rather than trading down lower in the draft.
